  1. Dream on. A player with Lambert's attributes PLUS pace would be worth over £30 million.
  2. Lambert would definitely be snapped up by a Prem club if we go down. Which would be a massive miss for us, as he would get 25 goals next season in the Championship.
  3. I always thought Dickson was a decent player, certainly better than Harding. He was one of our real contributors in our promotion run-in two seasons ago. That cross he put over for Lambert at Leyton Orient was just fantastic; also scored the crucial 2nd goal at Plymouth which effectively sealed promotion. Have never understood why he hasn't been given more of a chance.
  4. People who eat during a game baffle me.
  5. That's interesting, and I guess could partly explain how difficult Saints have found it to sign players in this last transfer window, if potential recruits didn't think they might be getting much in bonuses.
  6. I wonder what Villa fans do if there's a goal scored in the 19th minute. If they score it, do they refuse to celebrate and just carry on clapping? Or if they concede the goal, rather than berating their own players, do they just carry on clapping? The opposition would surely be humbled by such polite appreciation of their goal.
  7. Gary Neville may be an insightful pundit, but I'm not convinced he's all that as a defensive coach. Certainly, some of England's defending since Hodgson got the gig hasn't been all that great. Sweden's two goals against us at Euro 2012 were embarrassing, and the Ukraine game last week again was dicey defensively at times, particularly down our right-side, as it happens.
  8. Darren Kenton? Wonder what happened to him.
  9. Les Reed will be the next manager.
  10. I think he looked absolute class, albeit not the right-sided midfielder we were in need of. So we may well be stuck with Puncheon until January by the look of it.
  11. I think the best away Saints support I've ever witnessed was on a snowy Tuesday night in West Brom, the game when Prutton missed a sitter in the Redknapp relegation season. We had about 3,000 up there, and made a non-stop racket all night, though in hindsight I wish we hadn't sung "Harry & Jim are Red and White" for about half-an-hour.
  12. Highly amused by the Cheats fan on Twitter earlier today asking Agent Al Fahim if he could (quote) "help get Pompey back-to-back promotions like the Scummers got", to which Agent Al-Fahim replied "What are back-to-back promotions?" Genius.
  13. I have to say that Souness is also very good indeed when SKY have him on as a pundit. Interesting also to compare Jamie Redknapp (who is quite a decent pundit) with his father, who was predictably a heap of shooiitte on MOTD on Saturday night.
  14. A bit of Googling this morning leads me to think there may be the possibility of a live stream of the game on the Net.
  15. Ince probably is the better player, but if he's anything like as disloyal as his father, he wouldn't be with us for long.
  16. Or "with this stuff" , even.
  17. Are you lot going to be coming out of this stuff when we're in the, erm......, Champions League?
  18. I thought Adam Blackmore was from the Midlands. He's an excellent broadcaster in my opinion, talks a lot of sense and also seems to be able to get inside info from very high up within the club. He seems to be one of the very few people who Cortese will talk to.
  19. The loan is supposedly to fund new signings. It is a bit odd; the other shareholder (the Russian chap) is seriously minted, so not sure why they needed the loan.
  20. Most schools broke up two and a half weeks ago. I know we live in a digital age with smartphones etc., but I doubt Cortese would sanction any deal to sign a player without being in the country to approve the terms and necessary paperwork etc.
  21. Must admit, old bean, that does seem a bit harsh on Richardson. I think my mind was made up on De Ridder in the last 30 seconds of the 2-2 home draw with Blackpool when he didn't play the ball across.
  22. Just checked. Looks like I wasn't completely wrong (warning, some people may find this link incredibly dull......) http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/vatfinmanual/vatfin2320.htm
  23. I might be wrong about this, but I have a feeling that the clubs make more profit out of charging it as a ticket tax rather than adding it to the face value of the ticket price, as the ticket tax is possibly exempt from VAT, meaning that the clubs don't have to pay 20/120 of its proceeds from ticket tax over to HMRC in VAT. Apologies if this is incorrect, probably should have checked on the HMRC website first.
  24. Genius. The tackle by Massing is possibly the funniest foul of all-time. Made even better by the look of innocence immediately afterwards. Thanks for that Scott.
