  1. I didn't realise Adkins' contract had been extended. He'd be relatively expensive to sack then....

    Sky tv

I've been with SKY for a few years. Rang them up a month or two ago and asked if they were doing any deals on ESPN, as I said I'd be prepared to pay a few quid a month for it, but not £10 a month (which I think is the usual price). After a couple of minutes talking to her manager, the woman on the phone said she would charge me £10 a month for ESPN, but knock £9 a month off the cost of our monthly SKY Movies subscription; therefore it would only cost an extra £1 a month. Thought it was a good deal so accepted. It's always worth giving them a call and see if they'll bargain.
  3. Could be interesting though. Maybe he thinks Paul Lambert is going to jump ship, so he only sees a slide ahead for them. Probably been tapped up.
  4. Whenever I've seen him on the telly, I've thought he was decent. Reminds me a bit of Reginald D Hunter, which is a good thing.
  5. It was a highly vomit-inducing episode. Cheats fans turning up wearing West Brom shirts etc. They made s0d-all effort to win that game.
  6. Suspect they will wait for the result of the play-off final, as if West Ham go up, that might be a Category B game price-wise, whereas Blackpool would definitely be a Category C. Assuming there are 3 price bands, of course.
  7. This is so true, I think it's a massive reason for Swansea's success this season, Vorm is superb. Similarly Krol at Newcastle. Absolute fair play to Kelvin for rejecting West Ham 3 years ago and for everything he has done for us, but a top-quality keeper is a must if we are to make an impact next season.
  8. There were many moments in individual games (Leeds away, Millwall away etc) which were really important. I however think the key period was pre-season. The players started the season fit (Lambert in particular) and with a style of playing they had worked on in pre-season that served us so well for the first 3-4 months of the season, and the lead we established in the League in those months gave us the scope to lose a few games later in the season. It was just fantastic to start the season as we did, when we are usually utterly hopeless at the start of the season. If we can get a few wins at the start of next season, it will be such a boost for the whole season and will keep the feelgood factor going.
  9. Completely agree. Plenty of good players in the Championship and League 1. The likes of Trotter at Millwall and Clayton at Leeds are good examples of this.
  10. I very much doubt that City would fund the wages of somebody like Adam Johnson. They part-funded Adebayor's wages for Tottenham as he is on something utterly obscene like over £150k a week. Johnson is probably only on something mildly obscene like £50k a week. City would expect a Prem club to meet that cost, I'd imagine.
  11. I think he could do quite well in the Prem. He obviously has ability. I've always quite admired him since his complete "so what?" approach when the side stands at Fratton were giving him endless stick when he was taking throw-ins etc. Wasn't intimidated in the slightest.
  12. He was on the whole a really good centre-back. He did have the odd bad game, but when he was good he was an absolute rock. Branfoot's best signing by a million miles.

  14. Back to the wonderful Maple Leaff. There was some Dub'n'Grub bash kicking off as we were leaving, looked like it might be quite a lively one.
  15. I think there's more chance of Cortese leaving before Adkins.
  16. I want us to go up, as Cheats fans will be incredibly bitter about it.
  17. Maple Leaff is open from 9.30am.
  18. Have to say, as soon as the final whistle blew that day, I ran straight down the steps and sprinted back to the Maple Leaff for a few beers. Couldn't be doing with clapping the team after their pathetic second-half "performance" on that day against a United team who had nothing to play for, and I had even less inclination to want to hang around to watch adults crying in the stands, FFS.
  19. I have re-read what you said. Regardless, I fail to understand why people faff about on their phones when other games are on. As Adkins says, "control the controllables", you can't control other games' scores, but you can help Saints by singing yourself hoarse and cheering them on and making it intimidating for the oppo.
  20. Have to say, I wouldn't trust Nugent to do us a favour.
  21. Just re-read what you said. About checking in on Facebook etc, this wasn't on getting in to the ground, this was through the last 15 minutes of the game when we were losiing and really needed to give the team a lift.
  22. What other scores? QPR v Tottenham??!!!???
  23. I thought Chaplow getting injured was a big turning point in the game, we had been pretty dominant from half-time onwards until he got injured.
  24. Personally I was far more offended by being surrounded by a number of fans who spent much of the game mucking about with their mobile phones rather than vocally supporting the team. It totally baffles me why people travel all that way to faff about with their iPhones and Blackberry phones when they can do that any time of the week.
  25. Suppose it makes sense given how soon the play-offs come round.
