  1. I hate to say it, but that ref really wasn't very good in the game up at Walsall. He turned down a penalty request for us in the second-half that was a fairly blatant handball. Also gave Walsall most of the 50/50 decisions. Hopefully he's just a homer.
  2. I heard this last night and just sighed. If he is coming out with this sort of tosh in the dressing room, you get to a point where you start to think the players will just ignore him and do their own thing.
  3. Would expect the home sections to be heavily populated with Saints fans for this one.
  4. I think they've had some decent features on there, e.g. the report on Brighton's new ground a few weeks ago and the stuff on Plymouth's finances, and I found the Murty / Steve Fletcher stuff quite good, But yeah, overall it's not a good programme. Far too cluttered. Shame, as James Richardson is very good. Perhaps he should present the programme on his own from a cafe reading a newspaper like he did on Gazzetta all those years ago.
  5. Seconded.
  6. But the sum made from the Cortese ticket tax is probably a drop in the ocean compared with these losses. As others have alluded to, it can't just be the likes of Lambert and Fonte who were on big money last season. Kelvin Davis' decision to turn down West Ham may now make more sense, for example.
  7. It does make the decision not to have a sponsor this season look somewhat financially extravagant.
  8. Rofe was commentating (very well again) on Solent last night, and seemed to know of the ref. He said that he'd been reffing in the lower Leagues for over 10 years and was a good solid ref, albeit not having ever reffed in the Prem. Top bloke, Rofe. He commentates so much more sensibly than Uncle Dave, made some good insightful comments, thankfully not along the lines of "Well, what Southampton don't want to do is concede a goal here!"
  9. I think clubs in the Championship not already receiving parachute payments from the Prem get something like £2 million - £3 million per year at the moment from the current deal. It's quite a significant increase from what teams get in League 1, which if memory serves was something like £500K. I know the Bournemouth Echo were getting pretty excited about it recently when they thought Boscombe were going up.
  10. Yeah, completely agree. That was an amazing day, plus quality pitch invasion.
  11. Agreed. They're a very good side. I can see them going the rest of the season unbeaten; we just have to hope there's lots of draws within that run.
  12. Adkins wasn't the manager then, but Wilkins was at the club, so if Wilkins didn't pass on that info to Adkins he's a plank. If he did and Adkins chose not to take notice of it, Adkins is the plank. Albeit a lucky plank.
  13. Well, put it this way, the hysteria on this board since the Charlton game at the potential prospect of Lallana being out for the rest of the season is endemic of the extent to which our results depend on him being fit and playing well.
  14. I would echo this. I also think that Huddersfield have got a very good nucleus of experienced players, and unlike us are not over-reliant on one player.
  15. He's "Jonno Quick".
  16. As could Butterfield. But I think that should only really be in an absolute emergency, and I'm glad we've got another CM.
  17. They are very telling stats indeed.
  18. Not sure if this name has already come up (apologies if so), but I noticed in today's paper that Warnock is mouthing off that QPR loaned Martin Rowlands to Millwall, and they've only picked him once since the loan started; Warnock isn't happy as he was led to believe that Rowlands would get some games. He's due to return to QPR next week. I've always thought he was a really decent all-action midfielder, and in his early 30's, he wouldn't be unnerved by the edginess of a promotion run-in. I think he could be well worth a punt. Not sure why he hasn't played much for Millwall, I know their midfield is normally paked with athletes and maybe he's a bit too old for them now. Would be fine for us in our predicament though.
  19. Cool. I liked him, he was a little bit mental and very menacing.
  20. When I rang the ticket office a couple of hours ago to buy 2 tickets, I was told by the guy that there are not many left.
  21. He was good for Swindon last season. Decent signing for Huddersfield.
  22. You can always support Poole Town in the FA Vase semi-final first leg on that day.
  23. Good news for me if they shift it, can't do Saturday games but can do midweek.
  24. Is The Bell still a big Celtic pub?
  25. Why can't we pick a much slower anthemic song with a short chorus for a ditty? Slower songs have much more impact and our lot aren't very good at learning songs with lots of words (e.g. the Lambert song) I'm sure others can come up with some good words, but how about something like the chorus of Vienna by Ultravox as an example?
