There are four things that VAR can check and intervene on: Goals. Red Cards. Penalties. Cases of mistaken identity. The Adams kick to the head would never be looked at as a potential penalty because it was in our own penalty area! VAR could have intervened with Walcott this week (no dependency on the ref 'blowing up' first), but they will only intervene (by sending the ref to view the challenge on the pitch-side monitor) if they feel the failure to award a straight red card for serious foul play is a clear and obvious error on the part of the referee.

Given both wide men were swapped at the 60 minute I suspect the changes were pre-arranged and made with Saturday in mind. Agree that Theo still looked full of running. I think his ability to drop deep, collect on the half turn and then drive with the ball really gives us something.

Wouldn't surprise me. Over the past few years the main European clubs UA have had are us, St Pauli & AZ. The AZ deal was ended at the end of last season and last month St Pauli announced a mutual termination at the end of this season so it seems like UA are trying to exit pre-existing deals.

Why are the fans predominantly in the Chapel stand?
Mozz replied to saint lard's topic in The Saints
Similar logic with the space outside the stadium as well. They made use of the external space between Kingsland and railway line for ticket check, id check, temperature check and catering, as well as associated queues, with the exit gates left open for entry to the stadium itself. Would be a lot harder to replicate in the Itchen. -
E-mail came through about half an hour ago for me. Looks like the questionnaire is a generic form as it is now also linked to (https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=lLzlreLDlEWb99G8hzyqJbDIJPulRhtEvcpWv95l7G1UN1kxRDJKVkQ1MjhMMU5CQkY2RDdUMEpZSSQlQCN0PWcu) from the return to stadium info page (https://www.southamptonfc.com/visitor-info/return-to-stadium/return-to-stadium)

He does have previous in doing so. Away to West Brom in the Pellegrino season (shudder) he had one in a very similar position to the second one yesterday and scored by going low to the keepers side.

I'm pretty sure that the previous partnership ceased a few years ago. A quick look at Sure's twitter suggests they currently have sponsorships with Man City & Chelsea.
-
No need, he's a free agent at the end of this season.

Sort of. There's a bit of an odd marriage between the points system and ultimate subjective decision. Summary of the process on the previous page.

Bit late to the party with this, but re Sangare and work permits transfer fee will be part of it but likely not the full story. The process is that if a player has played a relevant percentage of competitive internationals then the "governing body endorsement" for the work permit is awarded automatically. If not (the case with Salisu & Sangare) then a panel of three (a "legally qualified chair" + two with "relevant experience at the top level of the game") make the decision. The panel is guided by an "objective criteria", a points scoring exercise that includes things like the size of the fee (presumably where Ralph's comments have come from), level of salary, league player is coming from, whether played in continental competition etc following which they conduct a "subjective review". If the player scores above a certain level in the objective exercise then: "the Exceptions Panel may grant a GBE, but is under no obligation to do so". If the player scores below this level then: "the Exceptions Panel is guided to refuse a GBE unless it is satisfied, following its subjective review, that the player is internationally established at the highest level and that his employment will make a significant contribution to the development of football at the highest level in England". As such with the comments along the lines of "shouldn't the club have known it would be turned down"; probably not as may have thought it would be granted following the subjective review as it would have been with Salisu and "couldn't we have increased the fee"; yes, but this would likely not have tipped Sangare above the points threshold and would still be no guarantee of success. The full criteria and process is available on the FA website if anybody is having difficulty sleeping.

After renewing I filled out the form and requested a hospitality voucher. Hadn't received anything but figured this was due to the uncertainty around the return to stadiums. Last night I received an e-mail containing:
-
Given potential fixture congestion (rounds 2/3/4 are being played over the first three mid-weeks of the season) I can see mass rotation from both teams.
-
Presumably, but those accounts won't be published until March/April next year.
-
In The Athletic this morning Dan Sheldon reported Saints hoping to sell him and that Lemina & Carrillo won’t be reporting back for pre-season training due to quarantine periods (both in England and potentially elsewhere if/when sold)
-
Yep. Wouldn't dismiss The Athletic as not being reputable due to being "internet journalism" given the amount of writers from national/local print/television media they've picked up since launch.
-
Pretty sure there won't be day passes for this one. They knocked out two back at the beginning of the restart and by my count this will be the second Sky broadcast home game that hasn't also been put free to air on Pick.
-
Was the inference in "wasn't just looking around" that he may have been training? If so presume not Salisu as pretty sure he wouldn't be able to until he has a work permit. If not then ignore me!
-
They've actually made it a heck of a lot more confusing than that as doesn't seem to link to an individuals new or existing BT account in any way. Have to go to https://matchpass.bt.com/, select the specific fixture the code has been sent for, enter name/e-mail/address/code, then will be apparently be sent an e-mail at some point this afternoon with a username/password that will allow access to the match only (no other programs or channels) via BT website or apps.

I wonder if Ralph trusts Obafemi more with the off the ball side of his game plan. It seems that since December Adams gets chucked on as a sub a fair bit ahead of Obafemi, but whenever Long is out injured it's Obafemi who gets the nod to start.

St Pauli unveiled their new kits today and from the above I'm guessing this is the collar (and by extension potentially the 'template' for the entire shirt).
-
Something I noticed that people may (or may not!) find interesting; on the new Season Ticket page on the OS the section dealing with the £35 incentive voucher for adults renewing and using their 19/20 season credit has been headlined "Saints £500k Thank You vouchers to Season Ticket Holders". If we take this to mean the overall value of vouchers to be issued is around the £500k mark and divide that figure by the £35 value of each voucher it equates to a current adult season ticket base of ~14,285

Worth noting that Fulham have the option to make permanent so even if his performance levels are at a point where we might want him back it could be out of our hands: https://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2019/august/08/harrison-reed-arrives-at-fulham

I presume we’ll be the BT game as according to this in the beeb we are the only replay taking place on the Wednesday https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51287818
