  1. Sunderland still apparently keen on Gallagher. Apparently we will want a decent amount of money for him if he goes.... I'd get him tied down to a new contract if it was me.....
  2. Forster Cedric Yoshida Caceres Bertrand Clasie Romeu Hojbjerg Redmond Gabbiadini Boufal
  3. Tbf, none of them are great in the air.
  4. In isolation, I wouldn't be unhappy if we got rid of Long, J-Rod and Austin, brought Gallagher into the first team fold with Gabbiadini - and bring in one other decent striker. Not sure it's great getting rid of 3 strikers though all at once.
  5. Forster Cedric Stephens Yoshida Bertrand Romeu JWP Redmond Davis Boufal Gabbiadini
  6. Just because people expected us to finish 10-14th doesn't mean the fans are happy with it...! Difficult one, but it's been more about the style and system which breeds negativity rather than the league position. And we could still finish 16th I think too....
  7. Indeed - there was quite a lot of panic around, seemed to take an age to get any stewards/medics up there too.
  8. Difficult to try and rate Gibson. Boro play in such a defensive manner, he could well be found out elsewhere (Not that I'm saying we shouldn't be looking at him but probably will be overpriced - £25 has been mentioned!)
  9. How do you know they didn't?
  10. It was a bargain which pretty much all saints fans said at the time, £38.5m is not that much these days, for someone who can win games on his own.
  11. Interesting discussion - just think we need to allow Hojbjerg to develop alongside Romeu, although he has to learn that he can't give the ball away in key areas once or twice a game. Not sure the answer is the three of Redmond/Boufal/Tadic as I put back in February...leaves us too exposed.
  12. Not sure how well informed Graeme Bailey is, but seems to get quite a bit right... Would be ok with McQueen as first choice, but certainly not ideal - Bertrand is another level above McQueen. However if it means we can use the money to invest in other areas then it would be ok. Guess it depends on the clubs ambition. If we're just happy staying up then it would be fine, if we want to push on and be a regular in Europe then he's probably not good enough.
  13. Always thought he will stay, and will leave the following summer. Would be nice...the guy has only just signed a 6 year deal, has been injured for half the season, and has just been made captain.
  14. Brilliant performance this season to stay up, congrats to the boys. Not sure how we do it time and time again.
  15. Why not just play a midfield/fwds of ----------Romeu Hojbjerg Redmond----Davis -----Tadic ------------Gabbiadini You could probably swap Boufal in for either Tadic or Redmond, and JWP in for Davis, Clasie in for Hojbjerg, (however if Hojbjerg is seen as a future first teamer then we need to stick with him and give him game time, especially at this point in the season where games are basically pointless. Playing Davis as a DM IMO is ridiculous, and just leaves Romeu basically playing in CM on his own.
  16. Isn't Sam Cunningham just a national journo who concentrates on us along with Alex Crook!?
  17. ----------------Hassen Cedric - Caceres - Yoshida - Bertrand -----------Romeu Hojbjerg------------ JWP ------Tadic/Boufal-------Redmond --------------Gabbiadini Time to mix it up - not fussed on Tadic/Boufal, but tempted too stick one in as #10
  18. http://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/championship-sam-gallagher-wanted-by-three-clubs-newcastle-to-splash-cash/story-30292259-detail/story.html This on top of Sunderland being very keen.... Wish we'd just get the contract signed asap. Would be a loss to not give him a chance, and can't cost much in wages atm.
  19. Met him a couple of times, absolute gentleman.
  20. However Redmond is considerably better, younger, bigger potential and not injury prone. Been one of our best players this season IMO, especially our best player in the second half of the season for me. If Austin could get fit, stay fit and get in the team most weeks then there is £15m in there for him, but unfortunately for him, he can't. Opinions are opinions though.
  21. Yep agree, so I would say my valuation of about £300m is about right.
  22. Although you could argue that for Saints his value is far less as he doesn't play much and when he does he gives the ball away in very dangerous positions. It's all completely subjective anyway.
