  1. Personally, I think that the sentence is harsh and aimed at setting an example more than anything ! Not saying that he deserves sympathy but individuals with lower public profiles would have certainly gotten a lot less ! The main charge of 'digital penetration' was with consent, only the age of the girl was an issue ! Wrong, wrong, wrong, I accept but a very severe punishment for the actual crime IMHO. I have just donned my flak jacket in anticipation of serious abuse !
  2. I just love this place ! I posted that Dalek was losing his touch by prematurely announcing that we were safe (clearly taking the p!ss !) and the thread has expanded into the realms of applied mathematics ! Lubbly, jubbly
  3. Not only saw him play (awesome) but actually met him (just shook his hand) and he came across a lovely fella ! RIP Johan
  4. Herewith the view of a Muslim journalist and author which I consider backs up my assertion that Muslim families can do more to repel radicalism ! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3507086/Why-no-one-admit-way-western-Muslims-raise-children-fomenting-terror.html (I am aware that this was published in the Daily Mail which will predictably be treated with scorn by the usual suspects but her credentials stand up to scrutiny) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yasmin_Alibhai-Brown
  5. I'm not suggesting that it never happens but feel that as a community more needs to be done ! It might have been nice to see a march of Muslim mothers in Brussels, holding candles and demanding a stop to the atrocities. There have been over 200 Belgian returnees from Syria, do their families just say " welcome back son, how are Raqqah and Alleppo at this time of year, oh my, you've lost a bit of weight" ? I refuse to believe that many of these dark activities go unnoticed, especially in the known enclaves ! Ps. I know I'm being a bit flippant but I think it helps to make my point !
  6. Report suspicious activity, educate and encourage their children to be aware that radicalism is evil ! I'd be incredibly surprised if most residents of Moelenbeek and Schaerbeek were completely unaware of what was going on around them !
  7. What proportion of Germans were Nazis in 1939 ? The 'silent' majority did almost nothing and (circa) 6 million lives were lost ! IMHO non terrorist Muslims need to do more to solve the problems within their midst !
  8. Having worked there for 15 years (although not an expert) I would absolutely concur with this view !
  9. You're slipping mate, until it's mathematically certain you should not take things for granted
  10. A bit close to home for me, 2 of my grandchildren right now are at school in Zaventem (about a mile from the airport and no doubt heard the blasts!), my son is at work about 5 miles away but has no idea as of now how he can collect them later ! His mate left Maalbeek station 10 mins before the bombing and said his office building shook just after he got in ! Scary at the best of times but even more when you know people and all the streets being shown on the telly !
  11. Just his character I reckon, no ulterior motive re. wanting away etc.. It was more noticeable today as he was responsible for the key moments in the game but he's never been anything other than just a bit miserable !
  12. I reckon the key is to keep it very tight early doors as they looked a bit nervy in the 2nd half v both Newcastle and Palace ! Strangely we will have more players than them on international duty so I really hope we don't pick up injuries !
  13. I noticed yesterday that he limped off at the end (helped by Dave Watson) and I reckon he took a knock not long after we used our 3rd sub ! Hope he is ok for Leicester as we will surely miss him !
  14. The problem has never been Shane Long or his ability, the problem has been that some arseholes on here wrote him off immediately just because of the price tag ! You see what you get with him and you get what you see and if anyone can be bothered to research, you could find a hundred other players who cost more money and delivered a helluva lot less ! Fact is that it's best to sit back and see what develops before slagging people off, just saying like .....
  15. With the Skates losing 0-3 at home as well, he has obviously crawled back under his stone for the time being
  16. He'll still be celebrating and too p!ssed to waste his time on here ! If the Newport results prove to be the difference between them staying in the 4th div or not, then the guy deserves honorary membership of the Saintsweb hall of fame
  17. I guess the Newcastle game just got a bit harder with Benitez being appointed, just on the basis of 'new manager syndrome' ! Hey ho, we are safe anyway but it would be nice to get a few more points on the board !
  18. In this day and age it is surely not beyond the wit of man to resurrect this ! Solid, high quality barriers per row, strict control on numbers, copy the successful German model is all that is required ! Plusses would be a) increased capacity b) better atmosphere c) lower prices. The only thing holding it back is politics as nobody wants to be associated with previous disasters but for me that is nonsense ! Bring it on....
  19. Bet he scores !
  20. Well peed off, in Cape Town, every other PL match live on TV apart from ours ! Streams non existent so have to suffer this thread plus live score.com ! Grrrr...
  21. TBF, still equal top 22 points behind the leaders Oh, and 11 points from the play-off places !
  22. In the sunshine in Cape Town anticipating the live match on TV COYS
  23. Reckon he'll go to a 'massive' club which represents his ancestral home ! Price could be a slight problem but surely he will end up at Pompey
  24. I met a Skate on the Isle of Wight once, was a long time ago, mind
  25. Can't believe we've got this far and nobody has mentioned the spelling of kangaroo:)
