  1. If you want to use whoscored stats as a guide then Ward Prowse averages 6.67 per game and is 160th best Premier League player whereas Phillips rates 6.51 and is 210th in the list. McCarthy is Saints best player this season according to those stats. This either goes to show people don't know what they are talking about or the stats are a load of nonsense but I'm not getting involved in that debate!
  2. I think that a PCC has a different job to Cressida Dick. For some reason there are some counties with elected mayors who don't have a PCC and their role is done by a deputy mayor which I believe is the case in London. The overwhelming majority of the country have a Chief Constable and a PCC like you say. The PCC role is quite low key though. They hold budgets, run things like estates and have input on some agenda but the real work is done by the Chief Constable who sets the tone for the force. It's a bit like Gao and Hassenhuttl, haha.
  3. Re-vetting the whole of the Met Police would take an extortionate amount of time. It's laborious enough vetting new recruits let alone another 32000 current officers on top of that. Forces reduced staff in their vetting departments when recruitment was low because of government cuts. When the uplift of new officers was brought in it caused some real problems and some forces prioritised vetting new officers over re-vetting existing ones. In Hampshire we re-vet everyone after 10 years, maybe more often for people on higher security levels. Not sure if it's the same elsewhere but it probably is.
  4. Annoying because we were doing well at 1-1 and they were getting frustrated. Stupid tackle by Ward Prowse, not sure it was worthy of a red but he gave the ref and VAR more to look at than necessary. He was never going to win the ball so shouldn't have slid in.
  5. He's did one bad pass that I can remember but otherwise has done everything that could be asked. Safe hands in terrible conditions and 2 saves with his foot, the one from Chillwell was excellent.
  6. We need more composure when we have the ball rather than giving it straight back to them. Their movement is causing our 2 plodders in midfield a few problems when they attack with pace. McCarthy has been good, so well done to him so far.
  7. Of course I wouldn't rather play them at full strength. I think we probably have different interpretations of what 'there for the taking' means!
  8. Not really there for the taking though are they? Still player for player are better than us in every position, plus a better manager, better subs etc. Their team is a bit weaker than normal which gives us slightly more of a chance. That chance is still small though.
  9. There's also the people not queuing who have been exposed as morons. I had someone say they couldn't come into work because they had no petrol but they only live 25 minutes walk away. Also another person who I know for a fact lives reasonably near a train station which is on the same line as the station that's right by where we work. Probably would have taken them 50 minutes door to door. When did people get so fucking lazy? Just walk, cycle, or get up a bit earlier and use public transport. It's a bit inconvenient but just get the fuck on with it.
  10. That's so grim. Best of luck to you all.
  11. Really sad news. Never really knew him but had friends who did and chatted with him a few times in the concourse at St Mary's and seen a few gigs. Dead Rabbits are a great band by the way. Should be much bigger than they are.
  12. Yeah, he was fine against West Ham although that's the only time I've seen him in the flesh. KWP did pretty well today apart from when he had to cross with his left foot, at which point his technique was about as sound as my golf swing when I used to hack the ball around the municipal.
  13. They announced the attendance as 28002. Stadium looked busier than for West Ham but still plenty of spare seats knocking around. We desperately need Stuart Armstrong back to link play together and provide some drive in the final third. We were so predictable today. At least Djenepo tried to run at them, pity his final ball is often wasted. Now could be the time to start pushing Livramento forward in training and working on having him and KWP as the right side with Perraud and Djenepo on the left.
  14. A dull match between 2 teams who seemed hell bent on having a "who can play the worst pass out of defence" competition rather than actually putting together some coherent attacking play. Eventually we came up trumps with a terrible piece of defending that got punished like it deserved to. We huffed and puffed but never really looked like scoring. 3 of the starting front 4 were completely ineffective going forward although at least they did their jobs in pressing the Wolves defenders into making mistakes and turned the ball over high up the pitch especially in the first half. A crap atmosphere, tepid football and people wearing shirts of other random premier league teams in the stadium really didn't make for a particularly enjoyable afternoon.
  15. The public get to vote on all sorts of things and quite clearly can't be trusted. You only have to look at the sort of polls which often suggest they think Bohemian Rhapsody is the best song of all time when in fact it's a smug, overblown, irritating, pompous piece of wank. If they can get that so spectacularly wrong there's no hope.
  16. We don't have any lorry drivers to deliver the materials so that will have to wait.
  17. Reading the Leicester forum they all think he's crap and that Bertrand isn't much better. Seems so far that we did pretty well getting rid of both at the right time.
  18. Oh, that's a bit crap. Glad he's on the mend. Hope he stays fit and gets some games this season.
  19. Thanks for the update. How's your nephew getting on this season?
  20. To be honest the sort of people who go in there are the bingo bus lot and I reckon being on a 12 hour round trip with them would be similar to the experiences some prisoners of war had.
  21. Brentford v Liverpool is loads of fun.
  22. This article in Private Eye explains some of the problem.
  23. Yeah, so if the 16's aren't playing some could have been put up into the 18's to fill the bench.
  24. I did wonder if it was something to do with teams playing Champions League getting their games out the way early to allow more recovery time but Man Utd are playing Wednesday not Tuesday.
  25. Weird because I'm reasonably sure today's U16 game vs Palace was called off a few days ago. You'd have thought they could have put a few of them on the bench.
