England World Cup Squad - Lambert, Lallana and Shaw included
The Cat replied to Batman's topic in The Saints
Did anyone have a punt on Lallana, Shaw and Lambert making the squad before Xmas when the odds were huge? Obviously Glasgow did, but anyone else? -
What I don't understand is why people put so much time and effort into annoying people they don't know on the internet. Personally it doesn't bother me, I just scan past the stuff I don't want to read but I can see why others find it irritating.

"Rickie Lambert, he's going to Brazil" (imo)....
The Cat replied to tisspahars's topic in The Saints
No, but he was England-class. -
This can't be right, normally 250000 people turn out to greet such important buses in Portsmouth. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/local/ukip-bus-crashes-into-portsmouth-station-1-6025252

Ralph Krueger - post-match comments in hospitality suite

Completely agree about the other half time scores. Doesn't take much effort to stick them up there and with the mobile connection being erratic there's plenty of people who'd like to know them. As for half time music, ours is always so laughably poor I'd rather the tannoy wasn't improved. -
Plenty of other threads to discuss next season, leave this one to celebrating his achievement please.

Sky Sports saying Wickham could make the England plane.

On this form you could understand him getting a run out from the bench in a mid season friendly when others are injured, but anyone pushing for him to make the World Cup squad must have access to best drugs in the country. -
Fantastic to see 2 Academy graduates make the team. Such a boost for the players, club and the future.

I have a vague recollection of a SISA meeting when Andrew Cowan said it would cost 500k to upgrade it to a decent standard and they didn't want to spend that sort of cash on it. -
Sims has all the attributes to be a very good player, he's not so much a striker though. Jake Hesketh looks decent.

2nd half one when Baines blocked it with his arm looked a good shout from where I was sat. Everton fans were going nuts about a Lovren foul on Naismith that happened right in front of them, right up the other end to me so I couldn't tell what was going on. What happened there?

Defensively superb throughout the team, and that base gave us the solidity to hold onto the lead we were gifted. Read some Everton fans talking about Cork being far worse than McCarthy the other day, I doubt many would have that opinion after Jack's performance today. He was simply superb. Many Everton fans traveling down today would be appalled by their performance and they did look flat, but that was mostly down to us not letting them play. Our midfield snuffed out any attempts to play through the middle and crucially our full backs stopped theirs getting forward.

Both played well today, Clyne was especially good. Given that Shaw is still only 18 it's quite frightening to think how good he's going to be. Injuries permitting I can't see either of them playing in this World Cup although they could both easily be starting for England by the time 2018 comes around.

Made me laugh a lot, especially Terry Hurlock's shirt. What WAS he thinking?

Barry's written a preview of the game here http://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/southampton-v-everton-26th-april-at-12-45.66803/

Why would a team with no manager be trying to sign players?

Neil Allen muddling something up? I'm not having it.

Just came across this on ebay. Any takers? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SOUTHAMPTON-V-MANCHESTER-UNITED-F-A-CUP-FINAL-LP-FULLY-SIGNED-BY-ALL-SAINTS-/301133967617?pt=UK_DVD_Film_TV_Autographs_CV&hash=item461cfbb101

If any Man Utd fans are in the home ends I hope they get chucked out and whoever sold them the ticket is banned.

Defintely OTT. The only reason to wear a t-shirt supporting a teammate is if they've just been suspended for being racist to a fellow pro.

I remember 7 being Matty, but then either it could have been changed at some point or I have a sh1t memory.

No. Because I'd live in Hull.

Same as Monk although it was a difficult choice between Lovren and Richards. I'd also have Ekelund on the bench.
