  1. Every forum is a small cross section of society, and in every part of society there are people moaning about ridiculous things. It will never change.
  2. Here's Viafara's at Pride Park in the play off game. I like the bit when Burley is telling the players to calm down while we all go nuts in the background. http://www.dailymotion.com/us/relevance/search/derby+southampton+rasiak/1#video=x1zu25 Annoyingly some bloke seems to have uploaded all the goals from that game apart from Rasiak's.
  3. Imagine if he'd laid it to the right and Guly had scored. There would still be fans celebrating in Old Trafford now.
  4. If we'd scored a 3rd at City that day I'm not sure I'd still be here. Celebrating Lambert's goal took more out of me and had my heart pumping more than a decent bike ride.
  5. It almost defied the laws of physics!
  6. 2m40 into this is all I can find. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6-_BIF0td0
  7. I do get frustrated by his passing at times but he gives us so much defensively that I'm more than prepared to overlook it. Without the protection he gives our defence we would surely have conceded more goals this season.
  8. Rasiak's second goal at Derby in the play off semi. The whole stand seemed to be moving under my feet.
  9. Brilliant performance, and unlike last season we got the point we deserved this time. I watched it in Kelly's where I saw someone wearing a Saints shirt with "Cortese 1" printed on the back. Really.
  10. Looked on MOTD like the ref wasn't even looking at the ball when it was bounced, in which case he's presumably relying on the linesman to make a decision. This could have all been sorted with video replays before the ball hit the back of the net.
  11. Sheer class. I've been saying he's our most important player for years, but then what do I know?
  12. Kelly's has the best set up apparently. I've only seen the Liverpool game in town. Royal Oak was pretty busy and their stream kept dropping out. Went to the Angel which was unsurprisingly empty and had an ok-ish stream, but nothing better than the sort you'd get at home. I'm probably going to try Kelly's on Saturday.
  13. I might not bother watching now.
  14. Adidas sponsor on a striped kit. It would sell ridiculously well. All part of Cortese's plan to massively increase revenue outside of matchday income.
  15. We've used this bloke a couple of times. He's good, cheap and a laugh too. http://www.checkatrade.com/SureFinish/
  16. They started knocking down East Street carpark this week. Morrisons is going to be built there. That in itself is hardly exciting but it will be better than a decrepit car park next to a grim old shopping centre that's been closed for years. More needs to be done around the Bargate. It's one of the most well known buldings in the city but outside it currently is the bus station, the closed Bargate shopping centre and a mothballed Jongleurs. It would be the perfect place to develop a decent sized music/arts venue. The Guildhall is so bad for sound that a lot of bands actively avoid it. As for Liverpool, I've always liked it when visiting but then apart from the obvious tourist sights and the areas around Anfield and Goodison I haven't really explored too far. I know it's the Wirral but I had a frankly bizarre weekend in New Brighton the year we drew 0-0 at Anfield in the last away game of the season. People singing UDA songs in pubs, kids dealing pills on street corners, 50 year old prostitutes hanging around in hotel toilets. I haven't been back there since.
  17. Matt said his chip was premeditated after he was Albert do it the week before. He didn't know Schmeichel was off his line when he had the shot, he just hoped he was.
  18. Another quick anecdote: A couple of years ago when it snowed Matty walked up to his local Co op in Baddersley to get some milk and bread. He was in the queue and noticed an old lady looking at him. She turned and said "I recognise you from somwhere" before pausing and saying "did you used to collect my bins?" Matty, not wanting to offend the woman, said "err, yes" at which point the old lady turned around to the checkout assistant and said "I thought so, but he doesn't half look like Matt Le Tissier."
  19. Or I could have just written "what Gemmel said" if I hadn't gone off to make a cup of tea halfway through writing my post!
  20. Ferguson said he was a great player who always gave Man Utd problems and scored lots of goals against them. He went on to talk about the chip over Schmeichel which sent the keeper into such a rage of embarrassment that after the game he spent ages kicking everything in the dressing room. He also praised Matty for his skills, touch and loyalty. Said that Man Utd did consider signing him on more than one occasion and that Matty featured in their scouting book. Xavi filmed his piece with a (fairly lousy) translator in Glasgow while they were there playing Celtic a few weeks back. Ed Chamberlain said that Xavi was so determined to film the piece for one of his heroes that Barcelona broke the media embargo they had set at the time to allow him to do it. He mentioned that he grew up watching Matt's goals and was a huge fan, congratulated him on his career and signed a Barcelona shirt that Ed presented to Matt onstage. Going back to the chip against Man Utd , Ed Chamberlain passed on a story Gary Neville told him where he said that for a couple of weeks after the goal Schmeichel was still cross about it and Paul Scholes would wind him up in training by just randomly shouting "LE TISSIER" during practice matches. This would end up with him getting chased around the pitch by a grumpy Peter Schmeichel.
  21. Loved it. Agree with everything said above. Ed Chamberlain was an excellent choice as host. Fair play to Crossley for traveling down from Sheffield for his 2 minute cameo. Awful penalty from Matty! He seemed genuinely touched by the tributes and the reception from the fans there. Those of us who saw him in his prime were truly lucky people.
  22. The "Nathan Dyer, he robs from the Skates" song got an airing. Can't see why anyone would boo him.
  23. If refs got paid more and got less abuse we'd have better officials. What do the top ones get paid? £30k or something? Fair enough that's a decent wage but only the elite get that and to reach the top of their profession takes years of being roundly abused every week in person and by fat, idiotic, think-they-know-it-alls sat behind keyboards the world over. I applaud anyone who steps up and wants to do it because without them we wouldn't have a game to watch.
  24. Looked that way to us down that end. As for the 'goal' me and my son had charged down the steps and were celebrating by the barriers when we belatedly realised it had been disallowed. Oops.
  25. Good points. And to their credit they only got in a bad muddle once when Lovren was booked for that foul right on the edge of the box in the second half. It's rare that a new central defensive partnership gels so quickly. Testament to their attitude, commitment and all the defensive work done on the training ground. Probably also helps that Pochettino was a pretty handy centre back himself.
