  1. Good to see penny-pinching by ignoring Health & Safety is no longer an option and they kept the required lights on to highlight the exits. Although they could have saved money by turning them off and issuing everyone with their own candle.
  2. Pedantic note re the title of the post. List only includes teams from England, Ital, Spain, Germany and France not the whole world. Having said that are any teams from outside those 5 likely to be included. A few Russian Chinese and USA teams seem to be signing some big names, but mostly near-end-of-career players with low or no fee but big wages. South Americans? Don't think there's a lot of cash splashing about in there leagues, that's why they all come to Europe. The title could well be correct, but it's not what the survey says. Good to see we're a huge 13 places above Bournemouth, wonder where our nearer neighbours would rank on such a list
  3. Yep, if I had to form an opinion based on that programme alone it would be that yes, he did it, but not in the way and/or place that the Police presented as prosecution, so he's hoping that the lack of evidence to what really happened is going to get him off. Wouldn't want to be sat on a jury deciding someone's fate on such evidence, or lack of, though Was thinking the same thing. That's my one and only objection to capital punishment - you can't correct a mistake.
  4. Did anyone else watch the 2 parter Conviction:Death at the Station that concluded on Wednesday. Covered the Inside Justice organisation gathering evidence in order to decide whether to appeal for a fresh appeal on Kearney's behalf . Strange programme, seemed to leave more unanswered questions than it solved (maybe that was the point) , and a strange (if not to say concerning under the circumstances) "twist" at the end (being vague so as no to reveal spoilers for anyone still intending to watch it). Hard to make up my mind about it watching that, after all the organisation's role was to try and prove an unsafe conviction, not that he was innocent or find out who done it if that was the case. So much of what was revealed in court never got a mention. But what was shown seemed to be a case of the evidence being made to fit the suspect, not the other way round.
  5. Hummus, yuk!. Latkes sound quite tasty and easy to make. Cup of red wine I could manage if I can't find the right beers, have to be a big cup though. Menorah is definitely out, Mrs Wurzel has just had new net curtains, 7 naked flames is just asking for trouble.
  6. Unfortunately, being a sad plastic fan nowadays I'll be traveling no further than my own living room for the away EL ties. But at least I can try and join in with the fun by eating/drinking local away style food and (alcoholic) drink whilst watching the game. Milan and Prague leave no end of possibilities for the latter, but what should I be buying down the Offy for tonight's game?
  7. What's the blue oblongs in the flat area between the tiers? Swimming Pools?
  8. I didn't realise Big Lump (appropriate name ) was the one involved further up. I must have missed his "attack", it was a bit like watching tennis at that stage, head turn left to watch our attacks, back to the right to see what they were up to. Very strange group, far more comical than intimidating. What was going or near the end with the giant with the weird haircut seemingly consoling what looked like an old couple with weird hats? I was only in block 3 but my eyesight is **** nowadays
  9. There were at least 3 occasions when they seemed to be fighting among themselves which took a bit of sorting out. A very small "hardcore group" - about 5 of them lol - in black t-shirts (with the leader being signified by an additional black baseball cap) spent the whole game staring into the Itchen North, flexing muscles and making gestures. They looked like a rough gay club version of a Full Monty type dance troupe (but conversely weren't among the ones that took their shirts off). They were well watched but never seemed to be involved in the incidents that kicked off.
  10. Whole penalty was comical all round. CA was still trying to persuade the-official-on-the-goal-ine-whose-official-title-escapes-me that it was handball only to find the ref had awarded it behind his back. Then the CA/DT spat. Easy to say with hindsight that it doesn't matter but if same incident had happened while we were losing and was missed there would be plenty of "WTF is going on" chants and calls for Puel to sort the team out. Reckon CA was so keen to claim it as being so early in the game he still had the legs for the run up. If I was skipper I'd have made them rock/paper/scissors for it.
  11. They have. They built it after Pompey fans convinced them their fixture with AC would be a regular date on the calendar and huge numbers would be traveling every time. It is only open on the day of those fixtures and is accessible directly from Junction 6 of the M27.
  12. Describing a goal/pass/virtually anything that they have just seen with their own eyes as "unbelievable". A magic trick maybe, but nothing on a football pitch fulfills that description.
  13. Ok, Lerner wasn't at the "compete with Barcelona" level, but I think Villa fans will be well aware of what happens when a rich owner loses interest.
  14. Seems to me they (designers) have tried to incorporate the UA logo into the design of the actual kit, and failed miserably. If you just look at the throat to chest section the red v inserted into the round collar with the "arch" just below it isn't a million miles away from their overlapping UA design.
  15. I've always thought it strange that players are not allowed to gamble on football at all due to possible conflicts of if interest, yet a gambling company can sponsor a team.
  16. Do ManU know you're posting on our forum Wayne ?
  17. BIB That sums up what I keep asking myself. Why would anyone want to up sticks and move to another country where the way of life is completely at odds with their existing religion/culture/laws with all the conflicts and disadvantages that that brings unless they hope that eventually they may convert that country and it's people to their ways. Will no accept "They are refugees they have no choice" as an answer, a very small minority are but the vast majority have come here under their own free will. Will not accept "that's what we done in the days of the Empire". That was, rightly or wrongly, done in the name of big business and generally consisted only of "those in charge" moving there . There was no mass migration of, for want of a better expression "everyday people".
  18. Oooh that hurts. It may, for all I know, very well may be. But you know what my next question will be - "How did that something much bigger get there?" (Assume same response to any suggestion(s), 3 posts a day limit prevents me from continuing ad finitum)
  19. I don't believe for one single moment that an old bearded man in the sky created the earth/universe on a whim. But I just can't get my head round the Big Bang Theory either. I mean, what exactly was it that went Bang all those years ago. A friend who allegedly understands all that tried explaining it to me once. Didn't matter what he said my next question was always "but where did that come from?" I just can't get my head round how anything can come from nothing, but even if it's taken down to the tiniest atom that went bang my next question is still the same. Something (whether it be solid, liquid, gas) had to be there to go bang, so how did that get there?
  20. What's more, as previously mentioned, he took a step down to join us, still seeing it as a step forward in his career. He believed in us as much as we believed in him.
  21. BIB And that probably says more about Wanyama and mane than it does about Saints. Great news extending Bertrand, seems like we are ticking them off one at a time in order of priority. Long then Tadic next. Would love to see Fonte rewarded with security of a long contract but maybe he's getting on a bit now, no room fo sentiment in this game .
  22. Yep Bournemouth have cracked it . Home AND away both look superb, with WBA away splitting them for my top 3. All the others just get a "meh". I really like Aston Villa home shirt too but couldn't see them on the list ...... oh yeah
  23. He was playing for Bayern Munich. They were so dominant the only way they could make their domestic games competitive was their players agreed to only use only one foot. We're a 6th/7th place side, he'll be allowed to use them both for us. BTW some of his one touch (one foot) control of long balls hit to him was superb
  24. Bet I wasn't the only one had to look DACH up
