Aye. His latest incarnation (the Eskimo fella) wasn't quite up to the same standard IMO

Cheers all. Appreciated. Will check those out.

Can anyone recommend a decent pub/restaurant in the approx area covered by the map below? Looking for somewhere to have lunch this coming Bank Holiday Monday. Basic requirements are: good food, good ale and teenager (aka fussy eater) friendly. Also need somewhere that takes table reservations. Somewhere 'off the beaten track' would be a bonus. Cheers!

Were that ever to happen, I'd be concerned that he'd drown in his own love juice long before he got the chance to logon to Saintsweb

A bit like when the Daily Mail transmogrifies into the bastion of truth when it reports a story about a Prime Minister and a pig?

Has the club's philosophy on loaning out our younger players changed over the last couple of years? We now seem to be embracing the loan option more than we used to. I know there's been previous discussions on here citing the need to send players out on loan more often these days because of the reduced first team opportunities, but I'm sensing an underlying philosophical shift in the club's mindset here too. Here's what Les Reed said back in 2014: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?49397-Les-Reed-on-The-Footballers-Football-Show-tonight-(7pm-amp-11pm-SS1)&p=1899163#post1899163 And here's what Martin Hunter is saying today: A shift in club philosophy, or am I reading too much into it? (just for a change! )

Its also on the back page of The Star, so must be a done deal... #clincher

Do they mean a two year extension to his existing deal (so another 3 years to go in total) or a new 2 year deal to supersede his existing contract?
-
Reed answers the 'first' question with "I think, again,..." as if he's already answered a similar question. Just a hunch that the interview they've put up on YouTube is an extract of a longer interview and they've just put up the bit they thought was most interesting. Anyway, no doubt I'm in the 'thinking too hard about it' camp so pinches of salt all round.
-
I think that could be because the clip appears to be an extract from the middle of a longer interview and his answer seemed to be a reiteration and/or elaboration of an earlier answer. That earlier answer to a similar question may well have been more definitive than the one in the clip. In other words, we don't have the context of the full interview to judge the answer to the question in isolation. Possibly.

My natural state of mind on anything like this is one of pessimism. That way, if this turns out to be a 'get it out in the open' last roll of the dice by Reed to convince Koeman to stay and it fails, then I won't be as disappointed had I approached it with optimism.

Could that last bit not work to our advantage, at least in the short to medium term? i.e. what "big club" would want to take a punt on a manager who is likely to be lured away to manage the national team within a relatively short period of time? That said, if the Netherlands start the world cup qualifiers well, and indeed go on to qualify for the world cup, then it would be at least 2 years before the 'shoe in' would occur. I think it all points towards Koeman signing 1 year rolling extensions at Saints until such time the Dutch job comes calling. Unless, of course, after being snubbed by the Dutch FA a couple of years ago, Koeman's priorities have changed whereby he would now turn down the chance to manage the national team in preference for managing a 'big club' for the foreseeable future.

Thought this was worthy of its own thread, rather than being buried in the 'Summer Transfer Targets' thread. Edit: summer, not Sumner, FFS

Yep, time to stop supporting a club and manager that are so happy that Utd won. That's it. I'm done with Saints (Not that I was ever a fan in the first place)
