Why would it matter if we hadn't?
-
Yep, any promotion pay rise was probably countered with a relegation drop again. But then this is QPR... so who knows!

He last signed a contract as a Championship player and is currently on £28,000 p/w if you believe... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2910450/Charlie-Austin-60-000-week-deal-stand-QPR-striker-indicates-wait-summer-deciding-stay.html http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/charlie-austin-set-to-earn-over-50000-a-week-as-qpr-bid-to-secure-strikers-longterm-future-with-new-contract-9852902.html http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/443141/EXCLUSIVE-Villa-prepare-15m-bid-Chelsea-Liverpool-target-Charlie-Austin

If we didn't win the FA Cup wearing yellow and blue in 1976 would these Saints fans still have a fixation that every away kit from now on has to be yellow and blue? Did our away kit future come down to a coin toss for who out of Saints and Man Utd would play in their away kit? Saints didn't always wear yellow and blue away kits before 1976, should they really have to after 1976?

Hull City would probably have paid us a loan fee to have Ramirez on loan. As would Inter Milan, Juventus and Boca Juniors for Osvaldo. So that is recouping some of the money as well, plus some of their fees from Roma and Bologna would probably have been for appearances/goals etc which neither has a great deal of for us so we wouldn't have paid the full price.

Krueger: The Europa League is not a negative for Southampton
Matthew Le God replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
No we didn't. - Saints were last in Europe in the 2003/04 (playing two games vs Steaua Bucharest early in the season) - Saints were relegated from the Premier league in 2004/05 -
Grealish looked out of his depth against our midfield when we beat them 6-1 a few weeks ago. Grealish - 19 years old - 13 Premier League appearances Ward-Prowse - 20 years old - 74 Premier League appearances The difference in experience between them shows, plus Ward-Prowse is playing for a significantly better team and has stronger competition for his place.

Yep, in our Championship playoff campaign of 2006/07 he scored 19 goals in 43 Championship matches. Hardly a disaster.

Entertain me... what did I say in this thread that was wrong?

St Armstrong's post was based on a tweet from an unrelated Twitter account, not the actual Bild account. He even admitted that here... http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?54403-Bayern-want-Sadio&p=2197308#post2197308 At the time of my post they was nothing on Bild's Twitter account or website about Mane linked with Bayern. Nothing I said was wrong. I didn't say it definitely wasn't in Bild, just that at the time of my post there was no evidence of it on Bild's internet output.
-
All I said at around midnight was that it was not on their Twitter feed. Which was true at the time. Then 11 hours later it appeared on their website. Nothing I said was incorrect.

No mention of it on their Twitter feed... https://twitter.com/SPORTBILD This Twitter account claims Bild have said it. But that isn't the same as Bild actually saying it... https://twitter.com/BL_Latest/status/608385598580256768

I could go on Twitter now and write... "Southampton want Messi & Ronaldo" Just putting "On Twitter" is ridiculous! What is your source? Who on Twitter said it?

If you trace back to the article that is based on, it is a case of the Metro plucking a story out of the air. No mention of Saints in the recent story the Metro links to... http://as.com/diarioas/2015/06/08/english/1433746650_725606.html The only link is to an old Metro rehash of a Mirror story from March... http://metro.co.uk/2015/03/18/southampton-plot-loan-signing-of-real-madrid-wonderkid-martin-odegaard-5110410/ It is shoddy and lazy journalism.

So you were itk, that he wasn't itk.
-
Useful for when the club is looking for main sponsors from 2016/17 onwards.
-
Ings wasn't free, they have to pay Burnley a compensation fee.
-
He didn't.
-
Why? Do you not agree striker generally get better with age until they peak in their late 20's? Vardy at 28 should be at his peak and yet a player 6 years younger that you think is worse (Ings) scored more than twice what Vardy did. What do you think Ings will be like at 28? You then used Welbeck at Sunderland as an example. To prove what exactly? As Welbeck scored more in that loan spell as a 19/20 year old than Vardy did in a season he should be at or near his peak.
-
What does that have to do with anything? He was a teenager when he was at Sunderland, not 28 years old as Vardy is. In any case... Welbeck scored 6 goals in 26 Premier League games for Sunderland. So he did better than Vardy did this season!
-
Because a striker at 28 years old should be in his peak years... not scoring 5 league goals in a season. A striker you deemed not as good (Ings), scored 11 league goals and is 6 years younger. Another striker 3 years younger (Austin) scored 18 league goals. Both of those played for relegated teams so Vardy can't even use playing for Leicester as an excuse.
-
Ings scored 11 this season and is 22 years old... to Vardy's 5 goals at 28 years old. Both were in teams in the relegation battle, but Ings was more impressive. Austin is 25 years old, played for a relegated side and scored 18 top flight goals this season. All three were having their 1st season in the Premier League, Vardy was by far the least impressive and isn't close to the level of player we need. What are you claiming 28 year old Jamie Vardy has "clearly got" to "progress to the next level" as a centre forward, isn't he leaving it extremely late? Lambert in his first season in the Premier League scored 15 goals, compared to Vardy's 5.
