  1. I swear that he's raised something like this before? Not sure what the fuss is about, as I saw it as old news. Good to see Gerrard has called him out though. Let's hear some names then Harry...
  2. I spoke to a contractor a few weeks ago, who said this was being installed at the stadium over the summer. Pretty reliable source as he was checking the quality of the electrical installation.
  3. The standard of English should tell you everything you need to know about this article. Probably written by a Work Experience kid, as everyone who can - has fooked off to Brazil.
  4. I won't be satisfied until I hear stories of Krueger whipping out a Zippo in front of a player and burning the offer. He has to up his game and go one better than Cortese...
  5. Wow - £20 off. Going to take some time to claw back that £1k 'investment'.
  6. Some people really take the rivalry far too seriously. Sheringham was a terrific player to watch, the sort of player you pay to see. So what if he played for our insignificant rivals at the back end of his career.
  7. I'm not renewing now. Not expensive enough.
  8. 1. Flowers 2. Dodd 5. Ruddock 6. Lovren 3. Shaw 4. Case 8. Schneiderlin 10. Lallana 11. Rod Wallace 9. Lambert 7. Le Tissier Manager: Chris Nicholl I've just included the players I enjoyed watching the most. How Rod Wallace doesn't get in more teams I'll never know - he was brilliant for us, a joy to watch and eclipsed Le Tiss on occasions.
  9. When you make snap judgements about people when you know little about them, this is is usually attributed to 'projection'. Do you think you are a bellend, or maybe you think other people think you are. Something to consider...
  10. It's comments like this that keep me coming back to this thread. Well done, sir. Simple but effective...
  11. I used to have that as a kid. It was like a 2nd skin until I grew out of it!
  12. Hmmm. Have we had a bye in the 5th round then? Otherwise, really not worth thinking about til the end of the game on Sat...
  13. I agree, he offers nothing. I'd rather have Kevin 'I should have 50 caps' Nolan in the squad than Cleverley. Cork or Osman would also be a better choice, at least they keep the ball well.
  14. I guess it does, but not by loads. You win £1.8m for the FA Cup. It's now about £1.3m a place in the Prem. I know you'd have to add up all the Gate Receipts and merchandise and all that lark, but it's not masses of difference, esp if you finished 2/3 places higher.
  15. Some clubs are bigger than others, Some clubs are bigger than others, Some clubs coffers are bigger than other clubs coffers...
  16. I wouldn't say wanting to wear matching socks is OCD. Shows an orderly brain, although if you were that organised it wouldn't that long to find some - surely?! Superstition is all ingrained in us somewhere. I like to think of myself as a complete atheist and don't believe in anything like ghosts or anything else dreamt up by humans in literature that's now turned into beliefs. However, I still 'touch wood' occasionally and there's probably other things as well, more to do with routine than anything else. I don't think we can completely escape it and it's pretty harmless, unless it's checking things every 5 mins. Which makes me wonder, did all of you lock the door when you left today?? ;-)
  17. I wouldn't want Lallana taking penalties, his finishing is far from the best attribute of his game. If he was fit, I'd have Lovren taking the pens.
  18. Agreed. This is summed up by the game v Charlton on New Years day 1990 at Selhurst Park - great interplay from Le Tiss and Wallace (backheel from Le Tiss was sublime). Rideout was also good for us around that time and never understood why we let him go. Did we just think we could cash in, as we had these youngsters anyway?
  19. If the SF is partly Kitson, then he definitely says he got paid in full. He may have been talking about wages he was owed up to that point or some other lump sum he was owed though. That is a true roll-call of honour. It brings a tear to my eye, just what these heroes have done for us and all the South Coast.
  20. From what I read of Dave Kitson, he got paid completely in full and isn't owed anything anymore? Was he in that list that was kicking around a while ago? If he is partly the SF, then he said he played hardball and unexpectantly got paid in full.
  21. Is there a decent vintage of meths you could recommend then?!
  22. 1. Create a better dialogue with the fans - Fair enough, as long as it doesn't get to 'fan on board' state of affairs. 2. Ditto with businesses in the area (note only about a third of Boxes seem to be taken compared to 100% in early years) - I would say that's more to do with the economy than Cortese's dialogue with local business. 3. Get rid of the 15 min parking charge - Tediously small. 4. Convert back to stripes - I just don't get this. I'm 36, when I was first supporting Saints we didn't have stripes til I was 12! 3 kits in a row, spanning 10 years and we didn't have stripes! What's the fuss?? 5. Review some of the previous new signings eg Forren, Mayuka, possibly Ramirez and Osvaldo - Every club in the land makes bad signings, the new CEO will too. As long as you get more right than wrong, you're doing a good job. 6. Assist with supporters travel expenses for some longer away games - Agree that the use of the money from the Prem was a farce, but are we getting it every year? 7. Get rid of the £2.00 charge for pay on the day tickets - Saint Garrett has nailed this on the head. 8. Embrace the clubs history. Forge stronger links with Ex Saints individually and the Ex Saints organisation - Agreed. 9. Review possibilities of Concerts at St Mary's - Not particularly important and could only happen in the off season and may jeopardise our fantastic playing surface. 10. Continue progress with the Academy and continue the progress the previous Chairman was able to achieve - Agreed. 11. ...and probably most important..keep Katharina Liebherr sweet' - Agreed.
  23. I'm half way through the 2nd book and although the (Pompey) fans protesting outside the training ground is a massive giveaway it's Kitson, plus the move to Stoke is pretty evident - there is also so much that doesn't fit. As others have alluded to, it must be collection of stories and not just the ones he actually says are his mates. Things like won trophies and played for a big club in Premier? Kitson's won a Div 1 medal and that's it. I wouldn't say Reading and Stoke are big clubs, just like I wouldn't say we are either.
  24. Spot on. The only thing you're missing is FF's agenda against the club. If these players want to leave and play in Lge 1, they will have to forgo the rest of their current contracts - on wages they're not likely to get close to ever again. Barnard for instance is reportedly on £14k a week, he'd get maybe £3k at best in Lge 1. Why not sit a year out, earn the money the club has promised to pay you and get another club next year. Whilst it's about playing football, it's also about earning a living in a short career. Especially if you're a lower league player like these 3. They all contributed to our rise and have been rewarded as per the contracts we agreed, I'd do exactly the same thing.
  25. Not sure. Think I saw him on the common with his dog a few years ago. Presume it was him as the dog was giving him the runaround and he slipped on his @ss twice.
