FM 2010 hints, tips, cheats & gems of players / tactics
sambosa75 replied to SO16_Saint's topic in Computer Games
If I buy FM10 today, will it be free of all the bugs they usually have when they first come out or will I still be required to download all the patches for it? -
Best of luck. Of course we'd have all preferred O'Neill but realistically was it ever really going to happen? Adkins has a superb record and S****horpe have had nationwide plaudits for the football they play. If he can carry that on with us and keep encouraging our passing, attacking-style football but installing a bit more consistency in us this will be a fantastic appointment. Welcome to the club Nigel and best of luck.

I think the reasons people are underwhelmed is because S****horpe sort of discovered him by accident. That said, during his short managerial career he has done a very good job and seems quite an intelligent bloke also. A bit of an anti-climax to some of the names that have been bandied about but in my opinion, a damn site better than Paul Hart or Phil Brown. Would have taken Alan Shearer above Adkins however and think he may have been up for the job and in an ideal world we'd be celebrating the second coming of Kevin Keegan or going mental at having Martin O'Neill.

Great post and I am most definitely in agreement on this. Imagine the effect he'd have on Rickie, Puncheon, Lallana etc... I also agree that bringing him in would basically mean nailed on promotion. Tactically at the highest level he himself has admitted he has limitations but as far as motivating the players at his disposal, he is up there with the very best of all time.

Sheffield Wednesday 24hrs from administration

Good news for us. They will be a fantastic investment though when they are going cheap for someone to pump some money in to. They'll be fine but hopefully will struggle as the season goes on leading to a take over in the summer. -
KK has promoted every club he has managed. He would have us playing great football and would get the absolute best out of players like Lambert, Puncheon, Lallana and Schneiderlin. He will most certainly do for a couple of seasons. Who cares if he gets bored after a couple of seasons and does a runner? I'm confident he'll leave us in a much stronger position when that time comes than when we are right now. This would be a great move. He's a sentimental old sausage as well and will probably quite fancy a return to Southampton so he can be close to his daughters who I understand still live in the area. I dont know if she still does but one of his daughters used to work in the SMS ticket office.

Perhaps you'd take out 5 minutes to check my previous posts to see I have never claimed to be ITK. That said, if a mate that I know well happens to see someone at the aiport who is in the frame for the vacant managerial position at the football club that I support, I dont think me posting it on a Southampton FC message board is the most outlandish thing in the world to do. Given the fact that odds have also been slashed this afternoon when an announcement is due tomorrow I think it also happens to add a little more creedence but still, really witty post all the same. So, er, well done.

I hope to god you are right.

My mate has just updated his status on Facebook saying he met Phil Brown at Southampton airport about an hour ago. He really isnt the type to lie about this. Doesnt post on here so is unaware of all the other rumours apart from what he hears in the pub. I just cant see it being anyone else now. If 5 Live say its already signed and sealed and will be announced midweek then what other reason could he possibly be flying in to Southampton for? Very concerned...

To be fair, if Steve Clarke come with him I would be feeling reasonably positive about this. Maybe we could talk him in to putting his boots back on as well!!!
-
He thought working at Newcastle with the likes of Rob Lee, Alan Shearer, Shay Given, Nolberto Solano etc.. was beneath him. I really dont think he would enjoy working with Hammond, Puncheon, Barnard and Jaidi. No disrespect to who I've mentioned but I think Gullit would get frustrated with their limitations very quickly.

Chasing shadows against Rochdale at St Mary's... FFS.

Please god no to Brown. He is a tosser of the highest order and I dont think he has proven himself as a better manager than Alan Pardew. For Cortese to sack Pardew he needs to replace him with someone who has a higher standing than him. The only person I can think of who is available is Martin O'Neill. Pay him whatever he wants and give him some money to spend on transfers and he will get us successive promotions in my opinion. He just might fancy a project like Southampton as well...
-
I dont know whether to laugh or cry. If Pardew hasnt satisfied Cortese with this clubs performances in the past year, how the hell is Paul Hart going to manage it?
-
I also went with Martin. Jaidi is definitely a handy player at this level when coming up against absolute lumps but from what I've seen of Martin he is a bit more mobile and has time on his side so he is only going to get better. At times on Saturday when Jaidi had the ball there were obvious passes on but he kept persisting in hoofing the ball as far as he could. Martin is young and might make one or two mistakes but he's got potential and the best way to bring that out is to play him.

For the very reason that it is risky. It could turn out to be a match made in heaven but on the other hand could be an unmitigated disaster. We've not got the best track record with South American players have we? That said, its worth a punt and a 5 month loan with an agreement in place to take him permanently is probably the best piece of business we could do. I'd even go as far as to say this is an even better deal than simply buying him and hoping for the best.

Took me a while to Digestive this news. No longer did I think we'd be the Custard Cream of the League 1 crop. I was going to have a glass of Bourbon to drown my sorrows and rip my Hobnob off in frustration. Personally I'd rather have Gary Baldi as the club's owner.

I know someone that works at Abbey Road studio... should ask him to go out and give us a wave! Anyone else noticed someone has written 'PONCE' on the wall?!

Not a patch on Duncan Spedding...

Markus Liebherr - a true Saint. You didnt need to do what you did for this club but the fact you had faith in us and didnt take the easy option with a Premier League club shows the man you were. Once a Saint, always a Saint. Rest in peace. I too am in favour of the Markus Liebherr Memorial Stadium or at least a statue. This guy is as important as anyone in our history.

Newcastle away or Pompey home please.

Not a bad write up but commenting on how uncomfortable Dickson looked but not commenting on the woeful, totally inept performance of Jason Puncheon? I thought Dickson looked decent. Seems capable of crossing with his left and right foot and seems pretty comfortable in possession. Puncheon on the other hand had an absolute shocker in my opinion.

What I dont get is every body focussing on not signing this player or that player and getting in to a tizz about it. We've lost a couple of loan signings since last season but I would rather rejoice in the fact that we havent sold any of our important players. Players like Davis, Fonte, Lallana, Schneiderlin, Lambert etc... If I was Ian Holloway, I would be trying to rape our squad right now but the fact is we havent been bullied in to letting any of our players go. As far as I'm concerned that is better than making any realistic signings and is something that should be celebrated as opposed to moaning about not signing Nathan 'bloody' Tyson as our back up striker!
