I dont know about being an academy player but isn't he at Southampton/Solent University doing Sports Science??? if he was there then he wouldnt be a full time academy player

There must be a few reasons why no premier league club has taken a chance on Rhodes as yet he has been touted for ages for a big move

I don't get this theory that all the players want out because they all believed what Cortese sold them and now he's gone they don't believe anymore. It was always going to be a massive task to get us in to the top 4 and if we had of get into the top 4 the chances are we would have replaced these players with bigger & better players anyway. Lambert left because it was Liverpool. Lallana has the lure of champions league football, Shaw has left for arguably one of the biggest clubs in the world for an absolute ridiculous wage. As with the already mentioned & Schneiderlin & Lovren they have been on international duty with players who play at massive clubs who will probably have been talking about the 'holy grail' of champions league. They also probably think playing for a top 4 club will help them cement places in international squads. I think unfortunately we have been victims of our own quick rise & more hampered this year because of World Cup. It would be nice to keep hold of Schneiderlin for at least another year. He stayed with us in league 1 when he was being told by the French set up to leave so fingers crossed.

I kind of get where you are coming from, however I really don't think we should be cashing in. Cork is a very good squad player as well as being a very good CM player he can also cover a number of other positions. The one thing that has let us down in the past has been our strength in depth and on Saturday I finally looked at our bench and thought wow that's better. It will only take a couple of injuries and/or suspensions and Cork will be in the 11 again.

Surely the squad will be Rooney, Welbeck, Sturridge (in for Defoe) & Lambert ahead of Carroll. I think Lambert will make the next squad or 2 but not get any game time and will be slowly phased out of the squad, this way Hodgson saves a big fuss if he doesn't pick him in the next squad after his Scotland heroics bu everyone will have forgotten about that in 2/3 squads time.

The 5 % is pro rata I believe we will get 2.5% as the 5% depends on how many years the player was with the club between certain ages. As we sold Bale at a young age I believe we are only entitled to around half the 5%.

I don't get this train of thought that if a player comes here for money they are not going to try etc If a player comes here for £60k he's probably going to play out of his skin to try and get a move to a big 4 or top European club who will pay him £100k a week. It's no different than a sales person leaving a £20k a year job to go to £25k a year job he's not going to stop selling just because he went there for the extra money, we are just talking bigger numbers
