  1. Seems to me that our drop in form has coincided with Targett not being in the team and Koemans insistence on playing with a slower attacking option or options
  2. Tactically naive. Let's go back to the system that we already know doesn't work. Wow how much do you get paid??
  3. Reminded me of Crystal Palace away. Bertrand cannot be played in a more forward position. It doesn't work. Targett was a big miss tonight along with Clasie. Tactical f**k up once again. Forster back to his worst
  4. Naive from Koeman. We have been playing well Because of Targett. Classie was also a big miss
  5. From a Pelle flick Chelsea hit us on the counter and equalize. We may not have lost because of one mistake, but it didn't help. Forster should have dealt with the cross.
  6. Two interesting points you make. Pelle was brought on to hold up play. Did he do his job? We have used Bertrand on a number of occasions in an advanced role and he just isn't comfortable. Targett is the better wing back.
  7. This will probably be our hardest game of the season. Really looking forward to this game.
  8. Got his body shape slightly less open, didn't open his up left foot up enough, didn't follow through towards the goal, wasn't positive or comfortable. Oops!!!
  9. Got a good feeling that Gardos will come back a far better play. His mental strength and determination is impressive.
  10. I expect us to push on this Summer. Could be a very exciting time
  11. ScepticalStan is the epitome of what is wrong in the world today and in football. Nothing and nobody seems to be given time. Successful has to be immediate. JWP will never be blessed with electric pace, but that's not his job. He isn't an out an out goal scorer, but will need to contribute in a season. He is getting stronger. What JWP brings is awareness and game intelligence. Some players go invisible in a game. They are players who do there job. They are the players who do the bread and butter. Being in the right position, tracking back, shadowing, blocking, delaying, denying, pressing, the simple pass that keeps the ball moving. JWP is not yet the finished articled, but when he is we will have another big player that all the big clubs will be desperate to pay loads of money for.
  12. Football is a numbers game. Whatever system we are implementing, players are doing their jobs better. Great example of this was JWP tracking back with Siggurson in the first half. Whilst he didn't get a touch, he got in the way and distracted Siggurson in a very dangerous position. He didn't give him the time to score.
  13. Schneiderlin and all that glory!!! 1 point away.
  14. Great reading what you wrote a while ago. Looks like my comments are bang on. Let's hope Targett is brought back on the wing as he's better there than Bertrand and Bertrand is moved to left side of the back 3
  15. The biggest problem I have with referees is their inconsistency.
  16. Have a word with Koeman! Wanyama excellent? wanyama gave away silly free kicks, misplaced passes and Koeman was absolutely furious with him by the end of the first half. Clasie and VVD excellent
  17. Captain Chris I think you've summarized what I saw. In fact used my words 'tinkering and disjointed'. Mane and Long had to adapt to Pelle playing No. 9 and it didn't work. Playing 3 centre backs was correct, but we were light in midfield and Bertrand doesn't seem to enjoy playing a more forward role. We got away with this one.
  18. The Wicken Arms and you never know maybe you'll bump into somebody between from 17:00
  19. Saint Charlie I love this post! This is why we should always include the keeper when talking about a formation. The importance of 1 in all systems.
  20. Forum member makes spelling error at 2am in the morning. The shame.
  21. Were you at the game? Without the ball every player is a defender. No team can carry a player in the modern game.
  22. I watched Tadic most of the game. That might be a good shift for Tadic, but somebody has got to get hold of him and show how to defend and close down properly.
  23. Chez you watched the same game as I did. Arsenal had more than enough chances to win comfortably. The fact that they didn't is down to the brilliance of our keeper. So why did we allow Arsenal so many chances. Yes there was great running by the Arsenal forwards, but a lot of our problems were self inflicted. How many times did we lose possession in great positions allowing Arsenal to counter. My biggest problem is why did Tadic start. Yes he can score or create something, but he doesn't close down space or players quick enough. He allowed Arsenal too much room down our left flank. He allowed a dangerous wall pass at the end of the first. When Targett came on, he gave Tadic a lesson in how to defend. Yes I'm pleased to come home with Saints achieving their first point I've seen at the Emirates, but why did we change the system to a 4-2-3-1. Tadic should not have started instead of Targett. In my opinion this allowed Arsenal to much space and we were defensively less compact. My second problem was with the taking off of JWP who was playing well and bringing on Juanmi?? Yes I thought Juanmi did well, but by removing JWP meant that we had no dead ball specialist. Romeu did some great work. Holding the ball in tight areas. Creating space from nothing, but then he would give the ball away cheaply and he needs to improve in this area and that header back into our box in the first 5 minutes. All in all a great night, thanks Frazer!
  24. I took over a Ladies team who lost the first 3 and were bottom. After 3 weeks of training we then won the next 7 matches and ended the season 5th. At the same time I trained a men's team who won 2 from 14 and ended the season 3rd from bottom. As a trainer you can improve a team, but if the players don't have the quality it will always be an uphill struggle. Another good example is Formula One racing. You can be the best driver, but without the car you will win nothing. Do we have bad coaches or a lack of quality? I think it's the latter.
