  1. This seems to be this year's instalment of Cortese's present to the manager, Papa Waigo, Guly and now Ramirez.
  2. Not forgetting WBA, Newcastle and Man City. Bolton and Blackburn had also done well recently until they crashed last term. I don't recall the Baggies spending a lot last time they came up, I suspect Toon did but can't be sure, of course Citeh were the ultimate spenders, although they mainly brought in experienced foreigners rather than lots of PL experience. Then there was that other team, names begins with P, don't know whatever happened to them after their free spending on experienced PL players :-) There are plenty of examples that prove both sides of the argument. Acid test for Norwich and Swansea will be this season now they have lost the managers who were inspirational for them, I suspect both might struggle this season (hopefully).
  3. Is kidnapping worse than tapping up? :-)
  4. Davis also had 22 PL appearances for Fulham and was not relegated with them either.
  5. Based on NOT having Fletchers back, I would predict 3rd, and then they would lose in the play-offs. This is based on the premise I always stated but you were too thick to understand that the Scotland team is only brought together for a couple of days before every game and does not have the continuity that league teams do, and also on the understanding that I always made clear that there are always withdrawals before every game, which is very unlike league teams. I stand by what I said, based on those assumptions Scotland would struggle (to get out of) L1, and I suggest they will struggle tonight against Oz. Prove me wrong on the L1 theory, of course you can't, its an opinion, and its as valid as yours, so stop being a little ****. International football outside the Top 10 or so is very poor quality, and is usually as boring as **** to watch, and exciting matches against teams such as the Faroes or San Marino fighting for a result to end up a meaningless 4th in a qualifying group must be the most soul destroying way to play football, as Danny will find out in the not too distant future. But as I said before good luck to him playing for his adopted (Grandmother's) team, I really do wish him all the best, but please don't try to make it look as though it is some sort of sporting pinnacle.
  6. My God, its bad enough having people on here worrying themselves silly about Saints, now people are worrying about the lack of quality signings for Spuds as well. next we'll be upset because of the lack of quality signings at Man City and Arsenal. Why anyone thinks Spuds will still be Top 4 with AVB in charge is way beyond me, without Joe Jordan they are ****ed.
  7. They tried to shorten it to just the initial letters, but seems like COCup wasn't well received.
  8. After the window closes
  9. The point of pre-season fixtures is to prepare the team, not to get the crowds in. I'm sure there is no plan to lose money on these matches, but it really doesn't matter about attendances (or even results) its about conditioning the team for the season ahead. Not sure the club have really achieved this either, but difficult to assess until we start playing competitive games. Very surprised they played last evening, surprised anyone turned up, much more exciting watching Mo and Usain at the Lympics. Huge numbers of empty seats at Villa Park today suggest that even committed football supporters were otherwise occupied with a once in a lifetime event rather than meaningless pre-season fixtures.
  10. Actually first time I posted the text did not show up, it was white on white so I had to edit it :-)
  11. I think it does

  13. Jack Rodwell from Everton apparently, subject to medical tomorrow, £15m.
  14. He cut his hair.
  15. Maybe thats where NC has been, finalising this season's signing from Serie A (I wish)
  16. Doesn't make any sense though does it, centre backs do not prevent long range "worldies". Of course we need CBs for the season, no one seriously thinks otherwise and I'ms sure they will arrive, but it is just as concerning that we seem unable to take our chances up front. Our strikers and attacking MFs (apart from Sharp) are so out of form its not true and Lee is still not ready to play. We have no cutting edge at the moment, no amount of new CBs will change that fact. Still its only a friendly :-)
  17. That's not important, they are all foreign players, therefore they are Gods of the footballing arena and we should be in awe of their prowess.
  18. Not over keen on the new shirts, but so what, I don't think it will change just because a few are not keen. The thing I would have done differently would have been to have black shorts. I don't really care for a look that is almost "all red".
  19. Careful Chez, I said similar yesterday and was ridiculed. You are not allowed to have individual views any more.
  20. I think that's what I said in my post, thought it was quite clear. I'm not really worried about anything at the moment, what is the point? Relax, but then with a username like yours I guess that would be difficult.
  21. Actually there were very few shaky defensive performances last season, at least none that I saw, apart from Blackpool at home, but that was largely down to Bart. Jose had a few off days, and we were not great home to Reading, agreed. Seemed pretty certain when we were out in France a couple of weeks back that 1 or 2 CBs would be in before start of season (which is still more than a week away), this came from NA and also the young players when interviewed (check on SaintsPlayer). Stephens is clearly highly thought of as a CB, and apart from one dodgy pre-season game I am told looks good backup. It really would not surprise me if nothing happens until a day or so before the window closes, it is the way transfers work these days, very few transfers have gone through so far in the PL. Whether we play Jos & Jose or Rio and Terry at CB against Man City is of little consequence, if City turn up they will win whatever CBs we put out. J&J are more than capable against Wigan. The concern is that one or other is injured in early game. Thats all. Frankly more concerned about our goal-scoring ability at the moment, apart from Sharp none of our other strikers seems to be able to find the net. Chill.
  22. Its not negative Alps, but it is stating the obvious. Everyone, including NA, knows we need to add at CB.. In any case, even if we had signed someone I am 99% certain Jos and Jose would start against Man City. As long as we strengthen before window closes we will be OK.
  23. Murthy? Just a thought.
  24. I agree it is horrible, especially on android, but fizture list is simple to find and at least meanr I could read Wolves repkrt.
  25. Sorry that you find it difficult to deal with lots of words or o.es that are too long. Says lots about you. You have no effective argument so you use insults instead. Prove that Scotland could win L1 with their current bunch of mediocre players and I might listen. Otherwise bury your head in the sand and contine to believe they are world beaters. Hopefully soon we will have some proper.football to talk about instead of 3rd rate teams. Ps, if you've reached this part of my post, well done, school will be very proud of you next term.
