Since when was Stoke the pet club of any hack ? Probably not since Stanley Matthews was a wee boy.
-
The most laughable aspect of this story is the idea of Kenwyne Jones coming back to Saints. I sometimes wonder if these lazy hacks actually have any idea, and even realise that KJ used to play for us and went on strike for a transfer. The idea of Lambert at Stoke is just plain daft, why would someone with the skill and touch of Lambert go and play for a team that just relies on height and muscle. Fecking joke.

Harry Redknapp to be named manager within 3 weeks
VectisSaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Of all the unemployed managers out there (except Hoddle) why would anyone think that bringing back Arry is a good idea. I guess some people have short memories. This would be the same Arry who got us relegated before, who had no idea how to turn a losing team into a winning one. This would be the same Arry who was a complete wizard at sorting out the defence, bringing in those great defenders Olivier Bernard, Andreas Jakobssen and Calum Davenport. Too many people believe what they read in the tabloids that Arry is a great manager, he isn't. He is also unemployed for a good reason, because he cannot develop a team and only succeeds by buying in players in the transfer window. Even his partial success at Spuds only highlighted that he did not know how to organise a defence, Spuds succeeded because they were great at goingforward - sound familiar? I don't believe for one nanosecond that NC would even contemplate having saggy chops around, they are an even worse fit than Lowe and Arry, as different as Chalk and ****. Redknapp would be just about the worst possible option in our current predicament (OK, Burley would be worse, and possibly Portvliet, oh and Wigley) but you get my drift -
Le Tissier: "Cortese is not a nice human being"

Don't think journos would be able to keep up with Turkish's posts, let alone lazy journos. I've always suspected not much to do during the day if you are in Telesales, except listen to people putting the phone down on you, by the post count Mr T has confirmed my suspicion. Sadly its quantity rather than quality. -

I know its not a league game, but I've heard we are going to wear the white kit away to Leeds. This is to confuse any Leeds thugs from Cheltenham who will not know who to punch. We have to make sure our keeper wears the same colour as theirs as well. I think the all-white kit will prove to have been a sound investment as a result.

Yoshi is probably our best CB, and paired with Fonte looks very assured. He must never ever play RB or LB again, playing a CB as a WB is just plain stupid, and poor Yoshi is not the right man for that job. Of course nor is Jos, who would be even worse. But what are the options if Fox really is injured (and useless) and so is Richardson? One of the youngsters or Dickson? Or maybe it would be better to play Punch as a LB until we get a proper one in (I thought when Richardson got injured that NA would drop Punch into defence and bring on Guly). I think Punch could do the job if he was detailed to do it, my only concern would be his lack of discipline (and I don't mean getting booked, just ability to concentrate on the job he is given). Another alternative may have been to push Steve Davis to defence and bring on JWP in his place. We are screwed at LB at the moment, and there are some options, however unattractive they might be, but Yoshi and Jos should not be considered as optional LBs under any circumstances.

I was not unhappy that Hammond went, I think we have better and apart from Cork's injury we are not really short in this area. I wasn't surprised to see Harding go, but letting him go without getting a replacement was a big mistake. We could certainly use his experience now, either instead of Fox (much better defensively, but not as good going forward) or at least as an able backup while Fox has a little rest. Better option than Yoshi who although very good at CB cannot play as a LB or RB. Letting him go like we did makes me almost certain that we had someone lined up but the deal fell through, whether that was Buttner or someone else is another matter. I liked Harding and I am sure he could have coped in the PL, without necessarily being a star.

At what point on this forum do we think we have a problem
VectisSaint replied to Miltonroader07's topic in The Saints
i think this forum has had a problem for some time. I don't think the transfer window will help the forum problems at all. -
Who isn't behind the team already, other than a few cyber warriors on here, some of whom don't go to matches anyway. You get a very different perspective on here than if you actually go to SMS.

This really doesn't add up. If he needed rest then how come he played 2 full games for the Jocks in the last week. If he has an injury such as this then he should not have been released by the Club, the same as Fergie or Arsene would do if there was an injured Manure or Arse player.

Le Tissier: "Cortese is not a nice human being"
VectisSaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
So, anyone going to the Evening with MLT on Thursday at Cowes Haven YC and fancy asking him to elaborate on why Nic is a not very nice person? -
I see the old anti Matt Oakley brigade have been released again.

60% of our defence yesterday did not play for us in the Championship. Well done you for predicting the future. People can make any situation fit the things they said without actually considering any facts.
-
You apparently, and a few others with your conspiracy theories. Could it be that somehow our targets did not materialise? We were certainly going for 2 CBs when we were out in Switzerland. We have also signed one since. We were also clearly looking to sign a LB until Manure turned his head.
-
Nice try, but we already played Wigan, and were awful against them, probably our worst display so far against a truly awful team.
-
I don't understand the logic of replacing Gazza with Boruc and not at least keeping him on the bench. Are we sure he was not injured? I think Boruc would be my first choice but just seems odd after Gazza has played well since he replaced KD. Unless NC insists on KD being in the squad.

Maybe a few sleepless nights this week will have the desired effect on GB.

You just beat me to it, my daughter sent me the link 2 hours ago, it was £100 then, now £460 and 9 days left...

Just because a club pays millions doesn't mean he was good. Don't get me wrong, I liked Beatts when he played for us, but often a player works well in a particular environment but doesn't translate well elsewhere. Even Mick Channon struggled when he went to Man City (not to mention Torres at Chelski). Some managers get more out of players than others by playing to their strengths. It cannot be denied that Beattie had a poor first touch, compared to SRL who is actually a very gifted footballer. They were/are both top strikers of the ball, and both are deadly from the spot, but I would take Lambert any day if given a straight choice - he brings much more to the team.

Le Tissier: "Cortese is not a nice human being"
VectisSaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
This stuff from MLT and Mr Peach really is so dull. So Mr Cortese is "not a very nice person". So what, who cares, even if its true (and being not very nice is very subjective). Roam Abramovich is not a very nice person, I suspect the people running Man City and Blackburn are not very nice, we have lots of not very nice people running football clubs, look at the whole host of them down the M27, gun runners, and other ne'er do wells. We have not very nice people running businesses, we have not very nice people running the country, we have some not very nice people who are footballers and some who were footballers. Our previous chairman was not very nice either. There are lots of not very nice people out there. It would be great if everyone was very nice and we all loved each other and world peace broke out. Life's a ***** sometimes. People who are successful in business are often ruthless, I am sure there are some aspects of Cortese's business and even personal ways are not to my taste or many others. Its a non-issue. The fact is that Cortese was instrumental in saving the Club along with the man that we all think was a very nice man (though very few of us actually know that for sure) and within reason as long as Cortese continues to run the club in a way that makes us more likely to be successful we should let him get on with it. If he was to start biting the heads off live chickens on the pitch, or using our cash to fund the KKK or something similar then maybe we would take all this stuff a bit more seriously. Please can the one or two individuals involved just shut the **** up unless they have something substantial and substantiated to say that would mean that this man is not a fit and proper person to run a football club. If you don't like the bloke, thats fine, we all have people that we don't like, but most don't go around **** stirring and making themselves look foolish. -
Its not just new posters, unless you are one of a small elite band you may as well not bother. The forum is hardly worth bothering with these days, every thread gets hijacked by the same small bunch of bores who end up just arguing with each other. If I could work out how I would cancel my subscription renewal (although I think it was only recently renewed).

No, but he is the Japanese Marian Pahars

I was planning to go along and boo Hoddle. Seems like I have missed out. First home game missed since last Christmas.

Agreed, I think this would be Corteste's nightmare, not dream. he may be a good defender but is the sort of person I would hate to have anywhere near Southampton. He is a total ****, and even now an acknowledged liar according to the FA following the Terry hearing. If we are fantasising (because that is what this is) i would rather have Baines now.
