  1. Dear Celtic, please ignore my last note, we still desparately need another striker now that Guly has torn his hamstring. Love, Southampton
  2. Given many thought Harding was MotM last week when he played RB, your reaction seems a bit OTT.
  3. No, its Aaron Ward-Baptiste. If OS has Ward-Prowse its a typo.
  4. Its Aaron Ward-Baptiste (not Prowse)
  5. Different because Ox's old man is a Skate bastard. If Shaw's old man is also a skate we may be fecked.
  6. The contradiction is that SFC OS says he signed a 3 year pro contract. As he isn't actualy 17 yet this is technically incorrect. If he has signed a pre-contract then it is not a contract. In law you cannot sign a contract before you reach the age of majority anyway.
  7. Something contradictory there, since players cannot sign full professional contracts until they are 17. Luke is 17 in July. We seem to have a knack of developing LBs.
  8. Surely Glenda has filled you in on all the details by now. What's that, Glenda didn't know. Oh my God!! Will this affect your prediction of 17th place finish? If so do you think we can now look for 16th possibly (lower mid table), or do you think we are more likely to be finish below 17th?
  9. I don't know, maybe it suited the club, after all if he had played maybe we would have lost out on his (over the odds) transfer fee. Not trying to deny the word strike was used, but I just wonder whether if SFC had pushed him he would have played. There was a lot of **** going on at the time, and I'm not sure what I believe from Burley or Lowe. All I know is that I would not hold it against KJ if he were to come back and put in a few shifts, because frnakly he was a great player and if he could bring some of that back to help us I for one would be very pleased. I'm not one for holding a grudge for the sake of it.
  10. The Carpathia arrived in NY on the 18th, 3 days after the sinking. The collision occurred late on the 14th but the ship went down 3 hours later on the 15th, and this is the date that the deaths are officially recorded. I don't recall anyone saying the crew were all Saints fans, just that they were residents of Southampton, Hampshire and even the IW. Why do they have to be Saints fans to be remembered, they were relatives and friends of people who were neighbours, workmates and colleagues of Southampton folk. I know in this day and age that we live in a society where some people do not give a feck about their neighbours, but not everyone is of this view and there are still some normal people around. What is hacking me off on this thread is the bile and insensitivity of some of the remarks and attacks on Alpine. I don't see eye to eye with him (and currently have him on Ignore) but in cases such as this he is making a reasonable case and the subject does not warrant some of the crass remarks by some people on here who reply in the way they do because they want to attack someone persoanlly, and instead just make themselves look stupid.
  11. IIRC the plague predated 1885
  12. As long as we don't lose we will still be in the Top 2, and if our fishy friends could do us a favour we may even extend our lead. Neither Cardiff nor Boro have easy games. I am confident that we will not lose, but won't go any further than that.
  13. You really are some sort of sick bunny, weirdo
  14. Clearly unlikely, but I would have him back like a shot if the opportunity arose. Had the sense to get out before Burley was able to blight his career in 2007, asked for a transfer, the "strike" was just talk, Burley would probably have played him in goal anyway. We got good money for the bloke (probably far better than was reasonable) and he is probably just the type of striker we could do with. 3 or 4 goals and all the forum warriors would eat their words. Will it happen? Will it feck.
  15. Just out of interest, where has this myth arisen that Puncheon had a good season in the Premiership? I believe he made a total of 11 appearances for Blackpool in half a season, and scored 3 goals. He has since made 2 apps for QPR. He has actually had a handful of good games in the Prem, maybe half a dozen in total. Reason they are after him now is because they could see that he might be half decent in the Championship. He really has not shown much as yet to suggest he is premiership quality.
  16. Because frankly it is not something that I have an opinion about, I can see arguments for and against, equally valid. Thats all. I had a at least one (distant) relative on board, my Great Grandparents lived in the area hardest hit by the tragedy and would likely have known many people who perished, but I am not Southampton born and bred and don't really feel strongly one way or the other as to whether this is something that the Football Club should be involved in.
  17. While not wishing to comment on whether this is something that SFC should commemorate, I think this posting shows a complete lack of understanding of such events, and the devastating impact this would have had on the community of Southampton. The loss of any lives in such tragic circumstance is terrible, but to dismiss it because it was carrying (a very small number of) rich and glamorous people and because most of the others were not actual residents of Southampton is just crass. A huge proportion of the victims were crew members, many of which were born and grew up in Southampton, and while many may well have moved to Southampton they were none the less still Southampton residents, just like many of those tragically killed in WW2 (why do you imply all of those killed in WW2 were born in Southamton?). The Titanic tragedy has nothing to do with the Hollywood renditions of the story, except that the reason such films were made was reflective of the huge tragedy. More than twice as many people died as a result of the Titanic IN ONE NIGHT, and in peacetime, as died in WW2 in Southampton. That number is mind boggling, and in no way is meant to diminish the memory of those who did perish in WW2, but some people clearly cannot conceive of the impact this must have had 100 years ago. The densely populated area around what is now SMS was hit vey hard and the impact of this event had long-lasting repercussions for the area for many years afterwards. It is wrong that it should be dismissed by people ignorant of the history and social history of their home. Should it be commerorated by SFC? I leave that to others to debate and decide.
  18. 9 caps all in 2011, only 2 as sub. Not sure he qualifies for work permit as that is based on last 2 years. Also don't know whether all of the 9 count as only competitive A team internationals are taken into consideration, friendlies are not considered.
  19. Agreed, if the time they took to sort out Marians work permit is anything to go by, I seem to recall that took a few weeks and appeals. Latvia were too lowly ranked by FIFA for it to be a formality. For Lee that is not an issue (Japan are ranked 19 I believe), but his number of caps would be. Can't quite recall the rules but has to be a percentage of last so many played that he was selected for. Found a link to the criteria: http://www.internationalworkpermits.com/football-players-work-permits.html
  20. Odd, will he be flying back again for his Home Office interview on Thursday? If so likely to be jet lagged for Saturday.
  21. No sorry, that is just so untrue. I have a lot of time for Bart and am not KD's greatest fan but Bart's howler at SMS against Blackpool was one of the very worst I have ever seen.
  22. 100% win rate in our last 1 away game
  23. Sorry but this is wrong in so many ways.
  24. I know the laws of football pretty well thank you very much, it happens when you qualify to be a referee. So stop jumping to conclusions and perhaps try understanding the rules yourself. If it was careless, which is the most any rational person could consider it then it should have resulted in a free-kick, but no caution. If it was reckless (which it wasn't) then it should have been a yellow. A red card is only applicable if the player used excessive force - quite clearly there was no excessive force, therefore it should never have been red. The reality is that it was a well-controlled tackle by Kompany who was very precise with his tackle and took the consequences into account, thus it was not even careless. Nani did not appeal, only the cheating thug and he managed to con the referee. It was actually a very well-timed tackle with both feet on the ground when contact was made with the ball. Sad really, would be a reasonable appeal by Man City, but as the FA do not accept appeals in >99% of cases it would be a waste of time.
