Problem is that during the 2 week break a large number of players will be away playing up to 3 games, so no rest and no club training.

Not sure why you think Semmens is a loser. Chairman can only operate within the limits set out by the owner(s). Ultimately the owner(s) are to blame. Not saying Semmens is all good but he is constrained by Gao and Ms Liebherr.

Signing Bertrand up for a new contract after today's performance would be a big mistake. I've thought for a while that he is past his sell by date, today confirmed it. Dreadful display, hopeless defensively and offered very little meaningfully going forward.

Appalling display today, apart from a few minutes after they scored. We were hopeless, complete La k of energy and ideas. Our inability to keep the ball was absolutely shocking, winning the ball and then giving it away immediately. Worst culprit today was one of my favourite players, Armstrong, but Bertrand, JWP, Minamino, Bednarek, KWP all shocking. Expected it from Redmond but then he hardly touched the ball anyway so didn't get the opportunity. I've hardly ever criticised Ralph, but it is beginning to look as though he is unable to motivate this team any longer. I still don't think we will go down but it's diffi ult to see where points are going to come from if we play like that. Really hope that Bertrand doesn't sign a new contract based on today's display, he was very poor.

I would agree with you to some extent, but if you listened to what he actually said, you would realise that he was being more specific than "standard manager speak" especially with regard to the Fulham references. Still I only put it out there for illustration of the point the original poster made, the hard of thinking on here can't see it, but that's par for the course for some of them.

Noted in interview before the Citeh match (Tuesday?) that Ralph said that we were in a relegation fight and that Fulham were looking good (words to that effect). So to return to the original post, Ralph is certainly looking nervously over his shoulder. I am confident we won't get relegated, but anyone who isn't aware of the possibility that it could happen is just bullshitting or dense. I don't think one or two of our hard of thinking posters actually understand the difference between being aware of the possibility and thinking we will be relegated, from past experience some certainly don't have any understanding of "what if" and can only deal with facts and hard evidence.

Thing is, it was OK for a while, and there were undoubtedly some highlights, but after the LC Final he turned us into a turgid nightmare of a team. It was awful. First half of the season he was living on what Ronald had done for us. Disliked the way people took the piss out of him for his speaking, but in the end he had to go, we may have survived with his football, but there was no fun to be had. Still it was better than what followed.

Following the tragic death of Markus the ownership of the Club passed into the probate system of Switzerland, and the Club, like other assets of Herr Liebherr was run by a trust (not sure that is the correct technical term). It took nearly 2 years before KL obtained control. Once control was gained things changed dramatically and quickly, but to credit her with 2 promotions is a gross misrepresentation of the reality.
