  1. Might explain why Norwich felt the need to shoot Hughton. Try to get Mackay on board before someone else does.
  2. Don't disagree with the OP's opening line, but he then does go off at a tangent. Gazzaniga needs to play more regularly to get condidence and wisdom, so loan him to a Championship or League One side that will make him first choice. Call him back if he is just sitting on the bench, and loan him out until he is valued by someone. Boruc is perfectly fine, but a keeper will get injured and needs quality backup. KD - time to retire and be a coach. We need a quality backup for Boruc and I agree with suspects named - Ruddy, Marshall even Stekelenburg. Lindegaard, Forster, Schmeichel, Begovic will all be unachievable options.
  3. Everton are in pole position to sign him. And they want him. If he had come on loan to us ... we would likely be in pole. The silver lining to this, Lukaku apart, is that Saints have garnered admiring glances and comments this season, and I can see other clubs wanting to send peripheral players out on loan to US. However, not sure we want to bring in loans. Our philosophy is to grow our own.
  4. The point is that he was COMPENSATED for being attacked in prison. Not condoning violence to anyone, but when did Bellfield compensate the Dowlers for the crime/harm he carried out?
  5. If we can get in a quality keeper for next season who can rival Boruc, then I would imagine Gazza will go out on a season's loan, to make him or ascertain if he can play at prem level.
  6. Lunchtime game, IIRC? We don't do well at those. Prefer the Saturday 3pm slot. Anyhow, Lambo to sit out the first half, while we press them to death. Then bring him on for final 30-45 to try to nick a win. Admittedly this plan is shot to pieces if we go in 3-0 down at HT.
  7. Is it mental illness really? Or as he describes it himself, too much money and not enough to do with his time? Discuss.
  8. Ok that's slightly different wording to his tweet last week, when the SMS expansion was described as 'behind that', inferring any place (2nd to 102nd) behind that. If he now says it is in 2nd place, then it seems to be a high priority after all. Maybe that is what 'Freddie' Krueger meant by 'maximising the income potential' - more seats to put bums on. I like the sound of that.
  9. And, ultimately, that's the case, isn't it. I can't see Burnley letting them go and I can't see the players upping sticks back down here to play for our coca cola side (they wouldn't be first choice any time for the Prem side.)
  10. That's a thought. I formally withdraw my comments, even endorse his and now ask that he recommend joining Saints to the young fella, who I would like to see at our club next season. There, did you hear the reversing warning as I backed up there?
  11. IN, but Vokes has to come too. Buy as a pair.
  12. You talk good sense. I would simplify it further. 1. you're a defender, not a creative player. Either play it long toward the front line or put it into Row Z.
  13. Good to know I'm not the only one who sees that. Fed up of Rooney being an autmotatic choice for England and others having to adapt their game to play to and around him.
  14. Lineker said his twitter would be hot with anger from Saints fans. It should be. His attitude was that the best players should play for the best clubs and that Lallana had met the qualifying standard for 'a top club'. If a serving manager had made those comments it would be deemed as 'tapping up'. Yes, he praised Lallana but not Saints.
  15. I HAVE sat down all season, and the only time I couldn't see was when idiots stand up to go get a beer, leave or go for a wee. Sit down, shut up and watch the game. From A Grumpy Middle Aged Man. I don't stand up at the theatre, I don't want to stand up at the footie.
  16. Oh no, I predict a riot! Scummers v BlueNoses at the Battle of Waterloo. Kinda glad we are going to friends down here now. I wasn't at the scene, m'lud. I have witnesses to my lullaby.
  17. The accounting concept is that you value them at the lower of cost and net realisable value. Think of Shaw and Chambers. Cost zero, NRV ... £10M to £30M. TBH, I'm not sure how players are valued in the BS. Interesting. This is why I would like to work in Saints accounting office, to find out.
  18. Yes, agree with all this. Well, all but Rooney. I wouldn't take him at all.
  19. Up: Leicester, Burnley and Reading Down: Cardiff, Fulham and Norwich
  20. That's pretty much what I was going to post. Even if he signs a new contract, if new owners were to come in and want to bring in a new manager, his contract will only be basis for compensation for loss of office.
  21. He knows too much about our style of play. I prefer it when we catch teams cold. He will be prepared for the way we play. Anyway, hope we can still win out!
  22. Sheik Mansour is keen to recoup some of his outlay from the fans. Glad its on TV!!!
  23. But he does. Woy says he's not afraid to drop big names. Do it, Woy.
  24. The good news .... the world loves Southampton. The bad news .... they're all plotting moves to take our players.
  25. Seriously, I would NOT take Rooney to the World Cup. He's a flipping bully. He demands the central striker role leaving Sturridge to play wide. He insists on taking the free kicks .. badly. I was delighted when he went off. And look how much better England were. Rooney, sell him to Scotland. Surplus to requirement. £300k a week. You're having a laugh.
