Nixon - Surprise departures tweet
the saint in winchester replied to Convict Colony's topic in The Saints
A couple of people in the ticket office, probably. "Behind the scenes". -
Yes, agreed, and our competitors saw that as well. IIRC Liverpool were interested in Lovren last pre-season but we won the race to sign him,. They are likely interested in him still ..... or, as some have said, it's paper talk re-hashing interest from a year ago.

This is the point. Remember when we sold Bridgey to Chelsea and they gave us Graeme le Saux in PX. He was still class. I'm sure Cole could get better offers, but if we insisted to Chelsea that Cole was part of the deal for Lukey then I would be happy. Surely better than a cheap foreign import or Billy Jones from West Brom.

Could we make use of a clapped out old motors for a season or two? Rio Ferdinand? Ashley Cole? They would have to stay within reasonable wage expectation, though.

Spurs fans, judging by listening to Danny Kelly (Talksport) and their fans calling in, seem to think Poch is not good enough for them! They think he is a new starter that got lucky at Saints, can't speak English and is a one-hit wonder. Of course, we think differently. Personally, I think Poch would be wrong for Spurs as they need a yes man who will kow-tow to Levy and be prepared to accept any player that Franco Baldini buys for him. Like everyone else, I think Poch would last maybe a year, if he's lucky. Spurs are hardly a step up from Saints - 8th place to 6th. If Poch wants to move on, he may be better moving back to the Continental Europe. Sherwood has said the target for the Spurs job is Champions League, so top 4. I don't think that is possible. I hope Poch sees it that way, too.

I think Cardiff have bigger issues than the colour of the shirt. The high level of spending on players on were not up to par, the tyrannical despotic chairman, the public slanging match between former manager and chairman, the hiring of an inept current manager... we would sympathise with you on these issues...but having to wear a red shirt? No. Irrelevant. Playing in blue won't get you automatic promotion next season. Control the controllables, as philosopher Nigel Adkins, used to say. ps. You have subscribed to this SITE.

Finally some one sees the way I see it. Yes, a player's value could increase at the world cup but it could also fall due to injury or apathy.

Did the PA announcer take the opportunity to play KC & The Sunshine Band's "Please Don't Go" last Saturday? It's our anthem for the summer!
-
THIS. You are all planning how to spend it but in reality little will be available.

Benitez already has a job! Napoli?

Danny Fox joins Forest - Permanent

But a free transfer?! He cost us £1.8M. Surely we could have recouped some of that fee. -
Osvaldo likely to be turned down by an Old Lady ..... Valencia may be interested, if the price is right .... http://talksport.com/football/valencia-keen-sign-southampton-star-14050990487

Good grief, am I the only one that has a thing for Mollie King?? Mind you, I wouldn't turn Rochelle away either.
-
Phew. Don't title it 'Kolo' - I thought we were going after Kolo Toure!
-
I thought this article was about Steve Davis, snooker's Mr Interesting? He was good in the 80s and 90s but probably better at the commentary now.
-
Although I like the sound of top players who have done well this season - Bony, Marshall, Welbeck, Lukaku - sadly, I don't think that even if they were to move on, we would be able to outbid and offer better terms than 'the big boys'. Having said that, we are the 8th best side in this country, so hopefully we can attract some quality players.
-
Would you take £7m for Osvaldo?
the saint in winchester replied to Glasgow_Saint's topic in The Saints
Terms were agreed at loan stage : they take him on loan, pay his wages, and have the right to buy for £15M. If they choose not to take up the option, fine, but I don't like this approach from them. It's like we agreed to sell a car, they test drive him and say they are only prepared to pay a fraction of the agreed fee. I don't want him back, but on principle we decline their offer and make him available to other bidders. -
£5M I would, yes.
-
Why do you think that? Burnley won't sell him. We would have to wait until the final year of his contract. Is that soon?
-
Yesterday I was going to suggest a bid for Demba Ba. Today .... his price will have risen £5M. What a difference a day makes ... So today's cheeky bid suggestion is Javier Hernandez. Now watch him score tonight!

MoPo seems to think it's ONE of Lallana and Ramirez, not both. If that's the case, then in Lallana v Ramirez, Lallana will win every time, and we should sell Ramirez and strenthen other areas. Having said that, there is a big opportunity now for him to play a part in a 4-4-1-1.

Rank our players in order of importance
the saint in winchester replied to norwaysaint's topic in The Saints
Exactly! Boruc top of the list. It is complete disaster if he doesn't play. Others a pity. -
One day at a time. If he goes, we will attract another quality manager. Southampton FC will be a hot employer in close season. Players and managers will want to come here.

Yes, offside. Clear offside, but the lino obviously didn't see the second touch from Dzeko by which point Silva was 4 yards offside. But AL is right - anyone can look up and see the replay on the big screen. The referee can ask for clarification, but they won't. Game changing? Yes, maybe? Jay Rod injury - game changing? Yes definitely. Gazza not claiming the ball for goals 3 and 4 - game changing? Yes, definitely. We move on. Cardiff, 15:07 on Saturday. Really, 15:07?
