http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fialka He's a RUSSIAN machine! I like his background. So he can print banknotes. Woo hoo! -
It's a landslide in your favour. Seems to be all about word symantics and principle with TL and Pinnacle. They want to appeal simply because they have been told they can't. Let it go. Do a cost/benefit analysis. What's the cost of this appeal not only in financial terms but also in lost morale and team preparation terms? And what's the benefit? We may get our 10 point penalty overturned. Or we may lose the appeal anyway. I'd rather we swallowed it, allowed ourselves to be wronged, took the moral high ground and got on with the transfer of ownership, management choices, player contracts and training. We have bigger fish to fry than arguing about 10 lousy points.

Update from Tony Lynam 1:45pm Monday 22/06/09
the saint in winchester replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
No, not today. It'll be FRIDAY!!!! Everything is resolved on a Friday!! -
That's pretty much where I am too. Why are we trying to win everything on the table rather than compromising, accepting the 10 point penalty and preparing for the new season? Come on, 10 points will make it harder, but not impossible. If we end up with a more severe penalty, we will shoot ourselves in the foot.
-
I'd rather this went into extra time (into next week) and be successfully resolved than it be thrown out and a new party have to go through the whole 500k down and 21 days to complete timeline. We don't have time for a wipe clean and start all over again. Pre-season training starts next week, fixtures are released. We are already a little behind other sides in terms of preparation, and for me we need everything resolved within next 14 days. New owners, new manager, players signed up or released, new targets identified. We can't do all that in July and August. So, stick with Pinnacle and let's hope they can complete soon, even if not this week.

I agree. It was an odd comment. I think he's trying to align himself with the incoming parties, as in, "I'd like to be your friend" which is double-talk for "please keep me on when you get into your kingdom". :-)

I didn't even know Radio Hampshire had gone off the air. Sure enough, having hit pre-set button 5 on my radio, it's dead air static. Mind you, not much worse than before. :-) So, having clicked the playradio link, anyone know which of the plethora of stations we will get - please, no heavy metal. (cringe)

Any chance of a serious answer from anyone without an agenda? -

Which are family-friendly ones to take my lad to? Ans which 'have trouble written all over them' that we should avoid? -
And they have been taken off the Championship clubs who have their own text page. Oracle page 574 is no longer Southampton, it's S****horpe! No special page for our boys now. We are dust.

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_5340290,00.html Dan Harding, who was on loan at Reading to the end of the season, has been released by Ispwich. Looks a good LB. -
Reading release several players
the saint in winchester replied to Redondo Saint's topic in The Saints
They're struggling to fill the stadium. I work in the shade of the Madejski stadium, and they send e-mail alerts across the business park here encouraging us to come to the games. He's likely minimising costs across the summer months as revenue will be zilch (apart from the rugger). A new manager will likely want to bring in his own players. -
Give him a break. I was grateful for JohnB's update. I can't sit on the Echo website all day, so appreciate a heads-up that there is an alert.

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_5325734,00.html Blast, you beat me to it. Hahnemann, if only I could spell his name - best keeper still left in the Championship! Get him in. And Lita - yes please. If only we had a club to convince them to join. -
Meanwhile .... I see the whole village of Linkenholt has been sold for £25M, inc houses and the like. What price for SFC then? Who would pay that sort of money? And do they have any left over?

Fry fiddles (not in the corrupt sense) while Rome burns
the saint in winchester replied to OldNick's topic in The Saints
Good post, Nickh, and I agree with you. In my simple mind, he is an estate agent trying to sell your house. Offers don't stay on the market for long and need to be accepted or swiftly re-negotiated in the hope of a slightly higher offer. Like you, I'm concerned those who have made an offer will withdraw their interest. I still feel this should like an ebay auction - with a definite offer period, best offer on the table at deadline wins. Not sure if we/he is moving forward on this. Some talk today that there will be an announcement in the next 24 hours. Certainly a statement of where he is with this would help us all to get back onside. -
LOL. When you put it like that ....

This is where our money has gone. Too many mouths to feed! I'll be happy with a squad of 23 players, on League 1 wages, but keen to prove themselves.

Disgusting.....our players that is!!!
the saint in winchester replied to Gingeletiss's topic in The Saints
Mark Dennis is apoplectic about almost anything! No wonder they're shutting the show down. Last night is tonight, I think. It's good to be passionate, but he acts like he's in the pub with his mates, and has a strong (right-wing) opinion on everything and anything. -
What is killing this club...

As I only get 3 posts a day, I'm still waiting for someone to open a thread of Sky Sports website SSN that Svensson has officially hung up his boots.! Come on someone. -
Tessem: 'We've got to be brave and tough in League 1'
the saint in winchester replied to eelpie's topic in The Saints
It's a matter of public record that about 6 months ago he came on Radio Hampshire to remind the club that he was back in the area, fully fit and desperate to play for Saints again. The presenter pointed out that the club was skint so probably couldn't afford him/anyone. He said "hey' I'm on unemployment benefit here; any wage in excess of that secures me." I wrote on here that I felt the club should take him up on his offer. I'm disappointed they didn't and even now, I would bring him in a player/coach. Superb player in his day. -
OH no! This is the first time I have agreed with Alpine. Bring on next season. We're going for automatic promotion!
