I certainly hope we are. But I fear Newcastle have the regional advantage - commutable from Hull? -
Should start v Villa !!!
-
I always read your posts with interest in view of your current/previous ITK status. However, we don't have the money to replace such players so they will likely continue on into the championship or contracts expire.
-
Yeah, I saw a report that we had named the price for Forster as £20M. So we need to find a compromise agreement. Someone mentioned getting Celtic players in exchange, which may be a good option.

For those of us who spend too long on Saintsweb
-
It seems the only winner so far has been FF himself. If he was paid £80k a week for 2 years inactivity, that's £8M we have given him. If he puts £5M of that on the table, and Celtic match it, I'm sure we'd take the £10M. I'm not trying to minimise his mental anguish previously, but he is fine now (presumably) and I don't see why we shouldn't get a return on our investment.

A tale of two Cluster***k Windows - Jan 17 & 18

I can't see us getting anyone of quality in to improve the side. If you were a decent player, would you want to come to Southampton and fight relegation most seasons? Ralph is now blinkered on the side he selects too, believing maintaining the same 14 every games improves cohesion. Give me the name of a proven CB, and ask if he would (not should) replace the current incumbents. Ralph wouldn't change his side now. I want to proven wrong, however, and hope the club do decide to spend on quality in Jan and that Ralph uses them. -
This does seem to be the most likely cause of our woes, yes. Even teams with no stand out star players (eg Sheff Utd) play at a level higher than we do. And that is down to identifying your strengths and playing to them. What ARE our strengths? The coaching team needs to identify them and set us up to maximise them. What we are getting game after game is that 'deer in the headlights' passing around the back four then a long ball down the channels. I wish Hojberg had just come out and said his piece a few weeks ago. Half the problem is not acknowledging it. See it, say it, sorted!

Anyone else wonder why RH would take Ings off when we need to get a goal?! #madness
-
Actually, that's a very good idea. Cedric is mentally out of the club, and RH refuses us even put Valery on the bench. Yeah, go Stephens at RB. And bring Yoshi back.
-
Great expression. A number of players do that, and you can't help think that if they went down naturally, they would have more chance of the decision in their favour. Throwing in a pike and twist on the way down justifies the ref shaking his head in disbelief.

Slow down and read what I wrote, Saint86. I said WHERE, not who. I know who they all are, but don't know where they are now.
-
Yes, I agree with you. He has bags of energy for a pressing game, and that is what we need. Long to start games, run for 60 mins, then Boufal to replace him to make things happen.

Sandstorm by Darude ?
-
I still don't know where any of them are.
-
I would think Charlie Austin would pull a face at that. When he was with us, we seemed to expect him to run like Long!

When your bank/utility provider/debt collector phones you up, but then spend the next 5 minutes with "security questions" to confirm you are the person they called. Questions like "and you the only King Rameses III at your home?" Yeah, obviously. If you don't believe you got the right number, then maybe don't call me! -

"Get the De-Lorean started, Marty, we're going Back to the Future! 88 gigowatts!" We could do with going back to 2000 and started all over again! https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/2019-11-26/southampton-football-club-announcement-matt-crocker-director-of-football-operations Finally on the OS. My, he looks so young, he must be like 23??!! -
It does seem strange for a club side to be taking on an entire country!
-
Wow. He and his buddy Wotte were really the instigators of our possession football. I have memories of our team passing the ball around, retaining possession, without looking to score!
