  1. I knew a thread like this would pop up even before Gillett stepped onto the pitch. No matter how well or how badly he may or may not have played, I imagine the OP's eyes lit up when he saw Gillett come on as his chance had come to "prove all us Gillett fans wrong". The fact is, mush, that Gillett didn't give the ball away every time he got the ball, in fact I can remember a few times he spread the ball nicely out wide to a rapturous applause and made a couple of decent challenges on Lee Carsley. His vision on the ball is something we've been hugely lacking. He gave the ball away a few times, yes, as did other players but let's remember that this was Gilletts first appearance this season so he was hardly going to be match fit was he? Considering he probably had no sharpness at all he actually did well, what with being thrown in at the deep end against Premiership opposition. Pardew doesn't rate him, that's obvious, so well done J Bizzle you will get your way and SG won't be in the team, but all those fans who can see past his lack of height and realise that he's actually a good player, will be disappointed at Pardews judgement.
  2. 6,000 last night. A hugely funny, dodgy takeover. PFC are bringing us so much joy and laughter through difficult times. Thank you Portsmouth Football Club, for being more of a laughing stock than us!
  3. The one thing I was really impressed with last night was the fact that despite letting in two goals the atmosphere didn't lull and the fans stayed behind the team right until the final whistle, and then at full time the teams got a great applause. I'm really confused at how the OP saw this to be negative? :S
  4. Haha fantastic, I find it quite amusing that this clown has taken control of them. Very dodgy chap indeed.
  5. Lol at people who go on 18-30 holidays http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iWOMo8GtXw
  6. Yeah the Echo seem to think he was just there as a 'guest', but then go on to admit they have no idea why he was there. You'd have thought one of the reporters would have been told that a snapper had spotted Jaidi and then asked Alan Pardew after the game about it? Or is that too much to ask for an Echo journalist?!
  7. There was one good thing about the referee tonight though and that was the fact that he allowed players to jump with the goalkeeper and attempt to win the ball. Most refs blow up as soon as a player gets within 5 feet of the keeper. Apart from that, useless, useless, useless ref. How he didn't spot that foul on Mellis for our first penalty shout was unbelievable.
  8. I can't add much really apart from that I agree that James and Wotton played well tonight.
  9. LOL. I'm really starting to love Portsmouth. They're bringing me so much joy and laughter in difficult times for Saints. Why do we hate them again? Funny little club.
  10. Are you saying he was a fault for todays loss? Nothing to do with the fact that for the first goal Wayne Thomas gave the ball away in a very dangerous area, and for the second goal the ball came from the left hand side of the pitch? Lloyd had a great game today in midfield, was forced to play right back towards the end and did ok. Nothing special, but he did alright. To blame him to losing is crazy IMO and he was not at fault for either of the goals.
  11. Well, that's great Really great news if we can get him. The reason I looked this up is just because if true this signing would really make a difference, so wanted to confirm what you had said. Fingers crossed for good news then.
  12. I was very surprised at how strong a team Birmingham put out... wasn't it mostly their first team out there tonight?
  13. Where did you hear that he played for them? He didn't play in Tunisia's last game against the Ivory Coast which was the 12th August. He wasn't even in the squad. http://www.cafonline.com/competition/african-cup-of-nations-angola_2010/news/3160-tunisia-squad-for-ivory-coast-friendly.html
  14. James at RB wasn't the reason we conceded the goals. Look no further than a certain Wayne Thomas for that. Fingers crossed Murty's injury isn't as bad as it looked.
  15. Glad there are mostly positives on here tonight. One idiot behind me booed at the final whistle at the players. :rolleyessmileything: We played really well and we probably deserved better than that tonight. Yes I agree with the fella who said Wotton played well, and Lallana was my man of the match. Some of his turns tonight were fantastic to watch. Super Kelv made some outstanding saves yet again, and Dan Harding is proving to be a quality signing. Terrible for Murty and for Saints that he picked up an injury which looks very serious. He was doing brilliantly until he got hurt, we look quite calm with him at the back. If it wasn't for Thomas tonight being completely at fault for the first goal and possibly the second too, we might have won the game. He was the only poor performer tonight, well possibly Mellis too who showed tiny glimpses of promise but never delivered anything (unlucky not to have scored though, to be fair). Best Saints performance I've seen for a long time. Oh and how the F**K did we not get at least one penalty down the Northam end??? The first shout was bloody obvious!
  16. You should post more often. You speak sense.
  17. That's Drogba.
  18. None of those people look at the girl straight after it's said. There's no play on words. Good try though.
  19. Very reasonable prices. I'd go, and probably bring a few family members who've never been before if it only costs £5.
  20. Don't get all uppety with me young man. This was the first thing you wrote on this thread which is about ticket sales not score prediction, which suggested that you weren't going for this reason and it seemed you were being slightly critical of those who were going and those who were being ever so slightly optimistic. But I'm glad that I have obviously read it wrong and you weren't doing this at all.
  21. I don't understand yours or TDD's point. Are you saying we all shouldn't go to the match because it's likely we'll lose?
  22. Agree. I'm not interested in him at all, and certainly won't be booing as we all know it'll come back to bite us in the arse.
  23. You get this in all walks of life though, don't you? People disagreeing with what you say is not exclusive to this forum, nor is it to Southampton fans. I often tell people things I know to be true yet they still don't believe me, tell me I'm talking bo*****s or punch me in the face, but I don't think that it's just the people in the pub I go to that do this sort of thing! People all over the world will sometimes disagree with or just not be that interested in what you have to say. PS. I'm not having a go at FF here, or anyone else, just simply pointing out that this sort of thing happens everywhere, everyday. It's not rare!
  24. It'll be at least 7,004 in about 30 minutes.
  25. You're not serious? Every city with a football club in this country has a number of fans who only turn up when there is something to play for or if they feel what they'll go to watch will be good "value for money" - we're no different. Look at Newcastle, just by going down they've lost 15,000 or so from their gate and that's because a large amount of 'football fans' in this country only want to see Premiership football. If Liverpool or Arsenal got relegated, it'd be exactly the same. Remember when we were in the Prem? We were getting 30k most weeks and that's because 10,000 fans were there not to support Saints as such, but to watch good players and big names. Every single club has these fans who turn up for the big matches. You'd be stupid to think otherwise. Anyone can see that for the third tier of English football 19k is a brilliant attendance and those who say otherwise are probably either trolling or just enjoy winding people up. Not that I'm suggesting you've ever done either of those things 19.
