  1. Stronger team than I expected from Palace. Reed on the bench. IMO all the Europa hunting teams (including us) will win today anyway so we'll finish where we are in 7th. So let's hope we (legally) rough up Palace before their final as we need United to win. It won't happen but sneaking into 5th would be epic!
  2. One of my more accurate predictions so far. Hull looked good today.
  3. I'm thinking this is decent news. Who knows, he may come good soon, he has the technical ability but he just needs to influence games more. Wasn't David Prutton the captain for the England U21's? He went on to have a decent enough career despite his limitations, and JWP has more assets than him IMO.
  4. Forgetting Europa for a second, I'd just be delighted if we finished above Liverpool and Chelsea this season! Much leg pulling and teasing would be dished out by me, to my friends who support either club. (I'll gloat to Chelsea fans after this game has finished to avoid tempting fate.) On a side note, has this site been hacked? Since I went Registered User it's been fine with the adverts, but today there are some pretty aggressive adverts that keep linking me to the App Store and other sites...
  5. I'm £30 richer from last night but gutted to see our Europa chances hanging by a thread. Ladbrokes had 5-1 for both teams to score and a West Ham win. I'll be putting a bit of the winnings on a Liverpool win tonight. I just have a feeling...
  6. United fans on RedCafe are already resigned to losing tonight now. Typical. I got 5-1 for both teams to score and a West Ham win so as long as United out the ball in the back of the net tonight, I'm financially reimbursed for their crudness if they lose.
  7. I've had a read of KUMB and RedCafe and RedCafe is far funnier tonight. Especially the troll with a thumb for a head and no ears.
  8. This. Ignore 5th, just because mathematically we can get it, the probability is we won't as United will get something from either game. 6th is what we should be fighting for and definite Europa spot. Ergo we need United to beat West Ham tonight, preferably convincingly. A draw would do too, providing we can out score them if we both win on Sunday. Liverpool are team I worry about. Yes they have the Europa final to think about but they're in good form and have it in them to beat Chelsea and West Brom leaving them a point clear of us. So we'd finish 7th and hope United win the final. West Ham in 8th, after the decent season they've had, would be funny too. All this is irrelevant if we go all "Saints" and lose to Palace on Sunday! Back to tonight though. Let's hope the good United turn up and spoil the Boleyn party. Head though says West Ham will be romantic and win, so I'm putting a bit of bunce on it...
  9. Or to look at it another way, we're anti-Palace and hoping they lose twice...
  10. I might just have to have some bets on Liverpool and West Ham winning midweek. 'Cos I rarely win anything gambling! If one or both teams loses, it'll be interesting reading RAWK and KUMB next week...
  11. Hate to say it, but after looking at a few permutations I think Liverpool will nick 6th by a point from us, in 7th, leaving West Ham a point behind us in 8th. Then we're resorting to cheering on United in the cup final. Yuck. Whatever happens, even if we finish 8th it has been a remarkable end to the season. (I still want Arsenal to steal a win today though, keeps United keen for West Ham game.)
  12. I'm currently watching the game on Sky + "as live" as I've been at work. Told colleagues not to tell me the score. I've just seen the Spurs goal go in, and I've buckled and looked at the score! Well looking forward to the rest of this game now! (The wife still thinks I don't know the score though, so I'll act dumb. Shouldn't be too hard...)
  13. Everton are god awful. Now a team with a spine of Stones, Barkley and Lukaku can play so badly is beyond me. I can't see them sticking with Martinez for long - and they could well be pillaged in the summer by the bigger clubs if they're not careful. Leicester are deserved champions. Never thought I'd say that. In other results, I'd say that was Newcastle's luck run out - and my missus is strangely apathetic about Norwich's impending relegation. Oh, and great result for us with West Ham getting spanked...
  14. What the frick? 6 fricking years? That is immense news and a hell of a commitment for such a talented player that could easily play for bigger clubs. He'll be our player of the season too. And fully deserved. Delighted.
  15. Is this one of those rumours that in a few years we can put in the filing cabinet alongside Bierhoff, Adebayor etc? I'll give this the same odds as pre-season Leicester winning the league 2015. Mind you... That happened...
  16. Saints half time/City full time is a better bet at 33-1. Damn last post... Use it wisely...COYR!
  17. Decent start by Saints but then our passing went a bit wayward. City's team is pretty decent despite resting key players. I'd be tempted to take the point today. We need Mané and Tadic to play blinders today.
  18. As the wife is a Norwich fan, obviously I want them to stay up. They won't. They've not had the results the other two have. As for the other two, Newcastle have put together the better form and have better players than Sunderland, but after doing a bit of fixture Maths, I think they'll run out of games just at the wrong time. So IMO it's Villa, Norwich and Newcastle for the drop. If I had to pick between the two Northern clubs to stay up, I'd choose Sunderland anyway, as they'd be more beatable next season than a resurgent Newcastle! (Especially if Rafa stayed.) As for going up its so tight for autos, but Brighton will miss out by a point on the last day, and Hull will win the play-offs. So Burnley, Boro and Hull for promotion. As for who I want, Brighton to win the play-offs would be my alteration. South coast derby next season.
  19. Pictured: Jay Rodriguez and Sadio MANE...
  20. Not only as manager, but he's nailed on for a place on the board.
  21. I think Tadic is a good player and I would keep him next season, although I would add another creative midfielder to the ranks to bolster our options in that area. Someone like Ziyech - from the videos I've seen he looks very impressive.
  22. Ladbrokes had Spurs at 12/11 for Kane to score and Spurs to win. Had a bit of that.
  23. ...or a fit Austin...
  24. Pfft, Portsmouth's female fans would yank their penises for a season like ours. This season we've been too inconsistent. Good runs then bad runs then good runs. Plus we've never had a settled side, formation changes, and star players not performing all the time. Still 8th (if that's what we get, no guarantees yet) is pretty decent. Could be better perhaps.
  25. So what is our worst case scenario next season? Building a defence around an ageing Fonte and Yoshida, a midfield of JWP and an ageing Davis, an attack of a crocked JRod and a crocked Austin? Or are things a bit rosier than that? I'm interested in what people think as in previous summers we can nail down the positions we needed to strengthen. Harder to do that this summer coming. As long as recruitment is decent I personally don't think we have much to worry about but I suppose it depends on how many outs we have.
