There, current avatar sorted. Up yours Lawro.

One minute this deal looked on, then it looked dead, then it looked on, then it looked dead. It really depends on when people were voting. I voted "NO" when the negativeness crept in regarding the Bologna president asking for more money.

Billy Sharp - Joins Notts Forest on Season Long Loan
SNSUN replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
As it turns out, Forecast has always been played in the wrong position and is actually a cracking left back. He just never thought to tell anyone. -
Sad to see both Deano and Billy go, but dare I say it, if the worst does happen this season and we get relegated, at least we'd still have these two on the books to steady the ship in the Championship, especially as the crown jewels would be pilfered. That said I believe we have the quality now to stay up and surprise people, in which case they can be sold next summer. Good signing for Brighton, a few of their signings have caught the eye. That league would be hell to get out of this season...

I get the feeling Mayuka will prove to be the bargain of that little lot, but it was obvious we needed to strengthen and we spent a good amount to do so. It's only half a season we have to go through until the next window anyway - we can spend a bit more then. Most importantly, 4 or 5 of those are, or will eventually be, in our first XI. Adkins philosophy was to strengthen the squad with better than what we had, and he's done that.
-
2 keepers technically. I'm chuffed to bits with our transfers. I still think we're one LB and one CB short of a complete squad but we've got enough in the tank with Yoshida on board to last us until January. From what I've seen of Clyne so far, he's my favourite signing of the window. (and that includes Ramirez.)

I'll love and support Penarol (as my Uruguayan team) forever if they sign off on him. Bologna, however, can do one.

I voted "NO", but my avatar will tell you all you need to know about that.

Billy Sharp - Joins Notts Forest on Season Long Loan
SNSUN replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
I hope Billy Sharp doesn't leave. This is the league where the size of your squad makes a lot of difference, and even if he won't be regularly starting, he'll have his part to play. A good goal scorer is worth a fortune, and while Billy may have some failings, he's far better than some in this league. He wants to play in the Premier League, he has his chance now. Selling him back to the Championship would be harsh on him. (Although looking through Cortese's financial glasses, lightening the load on the wage bill and getting a transfer fee would be a plus.) -
WOT NO RAMIREZ? I wish I had balls of steel.
-
I reckon it's our club sticking us on a wind up. They'll announce Ramirez at 11:01 tonight. (Or they'll annoy me solely by announcing it the second I get to work, and have no immediate way to post my "Yay"s.)
-
Surely that's beneath him. The newspapers would go radio rental if he dropped down that far.
-
Sam Allardyce: "Signing Andy Carroll is a massive coup for a promoted club." Yes, but you wait 'til you see what Saints have up their sleeves. FFS, SSN gave us one line about the deal. This blows. I'm off to work.
-
Hopefully we'll get to spank him with the Ramirez deal anyway.
-
I still can't get my head around Richard Wright's transfer to Man City. Multi-billionaire club Man City signing has-been keeper, that earlier in the summer told Preston he was homesick for East Anglia. He who says that money doesn't talk is a liar.
-
Welcome on board Cody. I take it that's our keeper quota fulfilled for this window.
-
I predict when his signing is announced, someone will start a new thread about it on the main board, and the thread will be swiftly locked by a super-mod. I am ITK on this subject.
-
I'm weighing up the "he'll sign" posts with the "he won't sign" posts to see who's ITK. As we don't know whether he's signed or not, I can't complete my investigations with any definite certainty.
-
The lack of a wobbly faced, media-friendly football manager with certain wheeler-dealing intentions on transfer deadline day is strangely unnerving. Surely he'll pop up eventually on SSN?
-
Bit rude IMO.
-
Says he signed up at 21:30. Sounds like this is in the bag. The greatest signing of our time. I was alive when we signed Keegan, but only just and I certainly wasn't a Saints fan back then! I'm going to bed now, excited like it's Christmas Eve and I'm going to wake up to a lovely present.

Have we given up on fonte and hoos on this forum

I could be that our whole first choice back four from last season becomes our second choice back four this season, but we'll see. I still don't think we'll see another left back in, and we'll put our faith in Shaw instead. Another centre back is a possibility though, but time is running out. Any club will fight to keep their players today because getting replacements in will be tough. (Though for lower league clubs, they do have the loan window and free transfers.) With Yoshida on board, I'm happier than I was with our defensive situation. If all we sign today is Ramirez, I'll be happy. Fingers crossed for more though! -
"After long negotiation seems to have got the white smoke." Are we getting Bologna stoned in order to push this transfer through?

Well Adkins likes his RCB's to be right footed and his LCB's to be left footed so I assume Yoshida will be to replace/stand in for Fonte. Whether that means he sees Seaborne as Jos's shadow remains to be seen.
