    Lallana

As good as he seems to be, I don't think you could put him in our first team if everyone is fit, unless you play him just behind Lambert as a second striker. Mills and Waigo would take the wings, with Hammond and James in the centre.
  2. If he gets fit enough, we could stick him on the playing staff, and give him squad number 40. Maybe some WD40 would sort Svensson's knees out...
  3. http://www.ex-canaries.co.uk/players/fotheringham.htm Dedication but lack of proof reading. Fotheringham, whom we had on trial before he signed for the Canaries, ends up being called Fotherington in this article....
  4. We can't win. (Literally and non-literally) If our defence plays well, we can't score, if we score, we concede. The defence is looking strong now, even with Murty out injured I thought James would be in there, but Thomas played there for us in the CCC so is competent. Add Jaidi and our defence now looks sorted. In attack, we have Lambert, Saga and to an extent Waigo and Paterson. With creativity from the midfield, I think that'll be enough, although I wouldn't be suprised to see Pardew dip into the loan market for another. Sort out the midfield creativity problem and we'll be marching up the league. Can't wait til Holmes and Mills are fully fit! Overall I'm disappointed but understanding.
  5. I'd take the mick, but I won't in case your gran knit it! Which reminds me, I once got given a box of Fried Chicken that you heat in the oven and which you can buy in Sainsburys called SFC, and with red and white stripes. My mothers gift once again, someone who desperately tries to please with very little positive result.
  6. Davis Thomas Trotman Perry Harding James Hammond Morgan Lallana Waigo Lambert Subs: Bart, Lancashire, Mills, Holmes, Mellis, Paterson, Gillett. Who'm I forgetting?
  7. With a good performance: Heart says 2-0, head says 1-1. With a poor performance: Heart says 0-0, head says 3-1 loss. Incidentally, I think Colchester's loan of John-Joe O'Toole was inspired. Within seconds of Boothroyd joining, his appointment had paid off. One of the League One signings of the summer IMO.
  8. For some reason, my mum thinks anything in red or white is Saints-related. She bought a very expensive and hideously gaudy watch for me once, which was actually coloured red and black, with a hint of white. I pretended to love it, like a good son would, then it lived in a drawer, where it still is, incidentally.
  9. http://www.eatsleepsport.com/southampton/forecast-returns-to-st-marys-941926.html He's back. He'd rather be third choice here than second choice at Grimsby.
  10. All our new players are rubbish, even the ones we haven't seen play yet. Relegation in my opinion. Everyone out. Except Pulis. He can stay.
  11. First choice IMO is: Davis Murty Trotman Jahdi Harding Waigo Hammond Morgan Mills Lallana Lambert with a pretty good second team of Bart James Thomas Perry Molyneaux Mellis Wotton Gillett Holmes Saga Patterson ...and you still have a couple of extras like Gobern and Lancashire and White and Thomson. Looks pretty good - the only changes I'd to the above is trying to stick James and Saga into the first team!
  12. But it wouldn't scan, and it wouldn't rhyme with gay...
  13. Can someone bring back the HCDAJFU fred please? :-D There are lots of freebies out there that CDAJFU. However Pardew IS D'ingAJFU, and I trust him to sign the players he thinks would be good for us. Johansson would be a step back IMO, getting on a bit now.
  14. Who can't be happy! We've strengthened the positions that needed strengthening, with better players than we had. Everything we've asked for as fans we've got, two centre backs, two full backs, a goal scoring striker, midfield grit and a pacy player. One more loan to cover the right back slot and we'll be laughing all the way to midtable.
  15. To the tune of 'If you're happy and you know it...' Papa Waigo N'diaye is really fast, clap clap Papa Waigo N'diaye is really fast, clap clap Papa Waigo N.diaye, unlike Sol he isn't g$y, Papa Waigo N'diaye is really fast. Clap clap
  16. 1- wooT 2- Serie A is very well and good, but Vincent Pericard was at Juve and he was a shower of shyte. 3- is this the same Papa Waigo you could sign on Championship/Football Manager a few seasons ago? If so, he was quite good!
  17. You lot have lost out. She's of to Pompey as they've signed more players than us.
  18. Has Skacel signed yet?
  19. Orn, never had you down as a wum! Lol It's looking like nobody in, nobody out imo. Still loads of frees though so not in a rush!
  20. Is it just me or is the transfer window more exciting when it finishes at midnight? Was expecting a Saints signing or two today. Gutted.
  21. Love it. Thought Extras was forced, though Stephen Merchant made it good.
  22. I miss the obvious things, MOTD, being in the papers, being linked with players way out of our price range, beating teams like Man Utd and making Ferguson pee his pants, not being ridiculed by my mates for having a cruddy little football team, playing teams and not feeling like plop when we get beat etc etc etc etc HOWEVER since we were there, the Premiership has become very segmented. You have your rich clubs that are always top of the table, the clubs with sound financial backing that sign good players, the clubs that punch above their weight every season and the promoted lads, though the latter two may fall into the same bracket. In terms of what I miss, I actually miss the Championship. The coverage was ok, and you're still playing big teams. Oh how I would have loved a trip to Newcastle this season. Sigh, I can wait 2 years...
  23. Wasn't Pahars a deadline day signing? IIRC I hate this transfer window thing anyway. I have ever since it came in. I was watching SSN earlier and some guy was saying it's a stupid system that causes panic buying and inflated prices. He's right too, Man City knew they had until the end of August to sign their players so they splashed out on whoever they could. I remember back in 96 under Souness how much we struggled at the start of the season with a weak defence and little creativity aside from our Matt. We then went out and bought Lundekvam, Ostenstadt and Berkovic which turned our season around. With the transfer window as it is now, we'd have been up poo creek. That said, the transfer window as it is now does benefit the smaller teams. A team like us doesn't get our players raided by Premiership teams that are close to the bottom of the table, well, until just after Christmas that is.
  24. Of the Norwich pair, I'd take Hoolihan but I wouldn't have Doherty. Yes he's still not a bad age, and has experience, and is a centre back of a calibre better than Lancashire, but he's far too error strewn. He does pop up with the odd goal though, but usually scores own goals to counteract it.
  25. I will be miffed if we don't sign anyone, and it will have been a day wasted watching SSN and doing eff all, but that's about it. Most of the footballers listed by people on the HCDAJFU fred are still on free transfers anyway, and can be brought in at any time. Plus the emergency loan window is open and we can start to raid the talented youth teams of the big boys. Or perhaps persuade the only talent Portsmouth have left to rip up their contracts and join us...
