He's 6 months younger than me! And I'm not old, am I?

Can Pulis be "Go Directly To Jail"
-
If he costs fook all, then what's the harm? Look at Pericard - a 6 month contract gives you the opportunity to put yourself in the shop window. Pericard did that, and now clubs want him, who is to say Mifsud won't give 100% to the cause too? Up front we currently only have Lambert and Connolly. Saga and Paterson are out of favour seemingly, Waigo and Lallana are generally being used in a midfield capacity. I don;t think this would be the end of our search for a new striker, be it Barnard, Jackson, Pericard or whoever. EDIT: Although it begs the question, if we're interested now, I'm suprised we weren't interested in August...

Exactly what I was thinking! Where would we be without our weekly portion of neighbourly hilarity! Although free tickets is the only way I'd want to see them play, and even then I'd probably just stay at home and watch BBC News 24.

I'm getting that feeling too. From the sounds of it, he wasn't the most popular player for them, despite how well he plays. Perhaps the comparison in out team is Morgan, a player with obvious talent but because of his tendancy to drift out of games or just do the simple things well, is criticised on messageboards such as this. We can only judge this player from seeing him with our own eyes. He's tall, and thus should solidify us during set pieces, and with regards to the hoofing, we have just signed a CB that is happy to play the ball, so I'm not too concerned with that side of his game either. They're happy with the rumoured amount of money sent to St James Park, and I think it's a snip. We can throw money around left, right and centre at players this window, but Seaborne has been a relatively cheap acquision, and I'm confident we'll be seeing him playing well, and making the transfer fee worthwhile.

Fonte is the silky ball winner, I'm starting to get the feeling the two new boys would compliment each other perfectly.
-
It's on the left I reckon that we need strengthening. As good as Lallana has been this season, he's not a left sided player, and I'd rather see us bring one in to strengthen that side, after all, Harding could use the help. Yes this presents a probem as to where to put Lallana, but you could either use him in a central role and slightly more advanced, almost as the second striker, or even on the right to replace Antonio. We have Gobern and Holmes, but neither seem in favour with Pardew, and it also looks light because James is stuck at right back.
-
I wouldn't play both Seaborne and Fonte on Saturday together, two centre backs making debuts doesn't sit well in my mind. Davis James Fonte Perry Harding Antonio Morgan Hammond Lallana Waigo Lambert Subs: Bart, Seaborne, Connolly, Wotton, Paterson, Danns, Messi

Pulis signed a 4 year contract extension.

Sky Sports were being horribly cruel. Must've been a Skate trying to wind us up. :-)

I already feel sorry for the lad - Saints seemingly being linked with League One marquee signings (I mean players too good for this league) and then along comes Seaborne. I hope he proves the knockers wrong and becomes a solid signing for us. He's only 22, so while he's not young young, he's still got ages left in his career to improve. I did go to the Exeter game, but didn't have him on my radar so I don't know what he's like. Good cover if nothing else. Welcome Dan.

It was tongue in cheek. I'm still awake. :-D
-
I'm off to bed. The sooner I sleep, the sooner I wake up in the morning to find out he's signed.

Ward just scored for Sheffield United. :-D :EvilArgumentativeSmiley:

Loan them Forecast and let them play him against us. :-D

Nice quip on Radio 5live earlier, talking about the Forest/Brum game, the reporter said "It's hard to know which is the Premier League team here". Cut back to the Cov/Pimply game, they said "It's hard to know who's the Championship side here". Made me chortle anyway. Got overexcited about the Ward deal. Must never believe anything until it's be written in stone, and a chant has been made up about that players name.

Excellent News if true. The Pardew link must've been a factor?
-
Tis already a build up thread... :-D

Laws is the latest favourite. No compo involved either, which will probably sway Burnley. Either way, I think we'll find out about a couple of new transfers by Friday, not that I'm ITK, just a whim. The lads will be back from Spain and then Pardew will have more time.
-
Won't need a new player profile photo, just paste over the Exeter badge. Tis the recession.
-
I'd rather have him at right back playing, than not playing at all, growing disillusioned and being shipped out. James is a player we don't want to be losing, a real asset to the team. Every team needs a utility player, and James seems to be ours.

Meh. I don't think Newcastle would've wanted the hassle of taking Lambert on loan. If they want a League One player that's not Beckford, I always though Holt at Norwich would've been the better option. Class player there...
-
We've come on a long way since the 1-1 on the first day of the season. I remember thinking after Patterson's strike that we had a little gem of a player. How wrong I was! (Granted he's got time on his side and we've made signings since then...) This will still be a tough game, Millwall are doing well and won't lie down, but with our new strengthened defence with Fonte willing to make an impression on his new boss/fans, we could win this. I'm going with heart here and say we'll scrape a 1-0 win, though any further player signings this week could make me change my mind...

I think all managers that take jobs elsewhere should have a clause in their contracts stating that they cannot take players from their old clubs for at least six months. (I expect smart clubs do this already.) Having never seen Stock play, I can only say what others say on here, and it has got me excited. If he's Donny's best player, then dropping a League makes me salivate. Fonte was one of Palaces best players, and while they're financially screwed, it shows we have the persuasion to entice players to SOuthampton. We have to hope that the new manager of Donny if also as much as a fan of Gillett as O'Driscoll was, but I figure that any new manager will want to keep his best players, which, unless the deal is already nearly done, spells bad news for us.
