  1. we kicked off with two current internationals up-front?
  2. Nige was appointed with us 22nd in league 1.
  3. A mate of mine claims to have THE ball.
  4. Paul Wotton - the bloke behind us hated him so we always made a bit show of cheering his name, giving him a standing ovation when he was subbed etc.
  5. Barely meets their inflated expectations, especially with their poor league positions and the fact they consider themselves above one of those competitions (as their new manager has said). I know loads of Chelsea fans and none of them is even close to being as pleased as I am at our performance over the last few years.
  6. Are people seriously suggesting man utd or Chelsea's last few years as comparable? I would have both down as some of the most boring periods for a fan.
  7. Didn't lawrie have one after about 6 years?
  8. Interesting question. I had a quick look at a couple of relevant things and they both suggest 12m now is "more". 1 - my season ticket in 2002/03 (closest I could find) cost £451 and this year cost £656 - that's only 3% pa! Bargain. 2 - TV rights for 2001-04 were £1.2bn and 2010-13 were £1.7bn. 4% pa. even if you allow for the new deal of £3bn then 12m is still a bit "more".
  9. Why is everyone ignoring the OP's excellent point? The facts are the Norwich did NOT bid £10m and therefore we have clearly been shafted. Lennon has not commented on this important norfolk-based aspect of the negotiations. Cortese out. What has he ever done for us?
  10. The ref deserves a mention too, for the style with which he brandishes the red card. Fully in-keeping with quality of the foul. Top notch all round.
  11. Think we were top for about three months when KK was here. That will be going some to replicate. Have we been top since - other than very early season c88/89?
  12. Yes - one arrived Friday and the other one on Saturday.
  13. It must be this way round - haven't you read the inlay card on your season ticket?
  14. Not read the whole thread but what tune are you suggesting we ding this one to?
  15. Um, if very few clubs produced five players, we would struggle to have a five-a-side league.
  16. I think the money is a necessary but not sufficient condition. We have Cortese to thank for the money and the rest.
  17. Can someone help me out? I can only name one of these. I lost track of all the names in the wilderness years. From left to right: that pretty good midfielder who went to Doncaster; the full back who thought he was too good for us and jumped ship just before we turned the corner; no idea; Adam Lallana; no idea. Thanks
  18. Plymouth home
  19. I had a similar memory but I thought it was the tour of South America where Barnes scored the great goal (that was almost as good as marsden v Ipswich) and mark Haytley grabbed his spot.
  20. I think the club this should get this up on one of the massive hoardings outside the stadium - so we can see it as we approach the hallowed turf.
  21. They would be in the championship pretty quickly.
  22. In the interests of putting to bed the suggestion that HR was right about something. Other than Sunderland (39) - all the other teams that stayed up finished at least four points clear of 37. I suppose if QPR picked up the extra points against Sunderland it might have just been enough. Sadly QPR took max points off Sunderland in the second half of the season so no scope for them picking up extra point off them.
  23. Not if he was talking about qpr.
