If we’ve got the wrong players to suit our chosen formation then it’s the formation that has to change because we can’t change the players.
-
If that’s the solution then you’re saying that everything’s wrong apart from the manager. Unfortunately for that view the players are on long-term contracts so replacing them all is not an option.
-
Three of them! What do you think this is, The Apprentice with Alan Sugar?
-
What didn't happen, a change of footballing style?
-
The first definitely, the other two not a chance. But what's your point? Fraser was a member of our team and our team lost. Why select him for criticism, there were others who made mistakes. Stephens for going walkabout and not marking his man, Bertrand for running offside and confusing the assistant? Overall we weren't quite good enough. But we are wandering way off topic here. If we are going to give Puel any credit for reaching Wembley then he also has to take the blame for wimping out of Europe and the FA Cup. They have to be considered as a whole.

We let in three goals. That will lose you most games and that's why we lost this one.

Wembley was a good day out and we were comfortably beaten even if we made a go of it but I've been there plenty of times before. There are many examples of other clubs who have had similar runs and then gone on to win something. What we did was no great shakes in the grander scheme of things. If you get overexcited about that then you have very low ambitions. But I can't ignore the bad times too. Rolling over in the FA Cup at home to Arsenal was a dismal experience and limping out of Europe was very painful.

Sad news. Taken from us much too soon.
-
Our FA Cup run last year was not that great either.
-
Why this obsession with 8th place? What did we win for coming 8th? We got 46 points - I'll say that again - 46 points, only two points above Stoke in 13th place. As for the cup final, we lost it, end of. That was not a great season by any measure.
-
On the whole I tend to agree with you. We know that Lemina was injured but what happened to Hoedt after Brighton? I don't think that he would have allowed Vokes that header.
-
Steady on there... our players may not be up to much but calling them tools is going a bit far.
-
Nothing wrong with the players, they are playing to the system that they have been coached. Control the game, keep your shape at all costs, guard against counter-attacks at all times. In other words, don't pile everything into attack because you might get caught at the back. Now, the big question is whether this is just down to the manager alone.

I remember it as 'a period of silence' which is imprecise to say the least. Although why anybody should think that clapping was appropriate is beyond me.
-
Yeah, there's something wrong with his feet and he hasn't always been like that. Immediately after the goal yesterday he seemed to be hobbling a bit from one foot to the other. But what to do?
-
No thanks, I remember the bad times too.
-
Because we wouldn't play two up front?
-
It could have been simpler - whistle, then silence ended by the Last Post.
-
I was impressed by the speed with which Tadic left the pitch when substituted. I never knew he had it in him.
-
There is no such thing as a poor rendition. The poignancy and significance of the piece transcends all performances.
-
Bringing anybody on in the last few minutes is always asking a lot. He won't have had time to get the feel of the ball or the pace of the pitch. Having said that, JWP's first touch was to put over a better corner than we had seen all match.
-
I was at the game and when the goal went in I couldn't quite work out what had happened but when I saw it again on MOTD I couldn't really see what more Forster could have done. His initial position was good, he dived at full stretch and the ball went well past the end of his fingers and just inside the post. He wasn't late to the ball, it was just well-placed. What do you think should have happened? He was at fault at Brighton but yesterday was not a blatant error. I haven't found any criticism of him in the media. There is plenty to complain about, how the cross was allowed unopposed, how Yoshida didn't prevent a clean header but more importantly why weren't we already several goals ahead? It's a sorry state of affairs when the keeper is criticised for not saving a goalless draw at home.
-
It seemed to come from over in that corner but there's no need for all the other sheep to follow them. The announcement was clear enough but in my opinion there should be a period of silence followed immediately by the Last Post.

Gabbi was already over at the touch line when his number was held up so he must have known before that he was going to be subbed. Perhaps he had signalled to the bench? The game turned on the substitutions. After Dyche made his swaps we looked lacked direction.
