Debate needed on veils in some public places, says minister
Whitey Grandad replied to holepuncture's topic in The Lounge
The wearing of a niqab is not compulsory in Islam so it is not a matter of respecting somebody's religious beliefs. No-one is objecting to the other manifestations of the religion such as headscarves. I am insulted by a woman who completely covers her face because the implication is that I might have lustful or unworthy feelings towards her. I am offended because she feels the need to appear in public incognito. Whatever you might feel about UKIP this behaviour is not part of British culture and tradition. -
Yes, I really think it would have. I also believe that it would disappear more quickly if the question of race or skin colour were allowed to die a natural death. Every time that it's pointed out that somebody is a different colour, or the first black person to do this, that or the other the differences between us are being emphasised. I have heard interviews on BBC Radio 4 where the subject's skin colour has been mentioned and discussed when the listener would otherwise have been totally unaware. Every time that we are asked to complete a form stating our ethnic origin we are perpetuating the divisions that used to exist in our society. I hope that I live long enough to see the day when somebody's skin colour, or ethnic origin or private sexual life is no more important than the colour of their hair or the colour of their eyes. For that reason I am against wearing rainbow shoelaces or any other public display which will only serve to prolong prejudices, perceived or otherwise.

Well done! Now you mention it, I think that's what I did

The whole operation in a two minute time lapse: http://www.francetvinfo.fr/faits-divers ... 13515.html Edit: I've just noticed the video on The Mail web page.

You all seem to be remarkably flippant about the deaths of twelve people.

The text editor is the box at the bottom of the screen where you enter you contribution to the debate. I had the same problem as you for a while but as you can see it's working now. All I know is that I cleared out all my browsing history a couple of weeks ago. We need an expert on this forum software.

You're looking for problems where none exist.

Why not wait a couple of days and then you won't have to wait?

Problem? What problem?

How would I know they were students? I would feel the same is students came in dressed as Muslim women. -
Me too.

I had that for a while. It's something to do with the text editor. I normally use Tapatalk so I'm not sure if its still doing it. Clear cache & cookies?

I was there for the 3-2. Sat next to me in the Saints end was someone who had been a Liverpool fan since a little boy but was now living in Southampton and had brought his girlfriend with him. He was telling her how his dad used to bring him and pointing out to her where he stood in the Kop. When our third goal went in he stood up and said to her "Right, we're off". As they left she whispered to me "Actually, I was rather enjoying it".

As I said, I don't care about anybody's sexuality. What I don't like are the constant references to it in the media. So your gay, so what? I don't go around telling everybody my sexual preferences but being gay seems to be a dominant topic amongst the chattering classes.
-
I hardly noticed him in either of the two home games, which is a good sign. I think.

Exactly. I really don't care about anybody's sexuality but I wish they'd keep it to themselves and not try to ram it down my throat.
-
I think it was the swipe commands that really got him interested.

Debate needed on veils in some public places, says minister

I am offended that somebody wants to be able to see my face without me being able to see theirs. I don't care what religion, creed or colour they are. The major part of communication is non verbal. -
You don't have to sign up to a campaign in order to be in favour of it. You certainly can't infer that not signing up means you're against.

Both his free kicks yesterday were overhit, as was his first corner.

Not at all. If I were a shopkeeper and somebody came in wearing a balaclava or a Zorro mask I would assume that they wanted to conceal their identity. The same would apply to anybody working behind a reception desk or in any position requiring regular contact with the public. There is a big difference between covering your hair with a scarf and completely obscuring your face. -

I find it deeply offensive that anybody should cover their face in public and in my presence. Facial contact is an important part if our culture and communications. -
I've bought a reconditioned 32Gb one on EBay for £119 (up to £135 now) from Tesco_outlet. It arrived this morning and looks pretty useful. This is the previous model with 1290x800 screen. I might buy the latest from Currys at £239.99 inc VAT and pass this one on. There's a 5% discount offer on this for home delivery.

Post Match Reaction: SAINTS 0-0 West Ham
Whitey Grandad replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
It matters not that the penalty was debatable. What about the debatable ones that weren't given? -
It takes several games for new players to settle into the team. My view is that we are a better team than this time last season and definitely more solid. First build a solid defence and then work on scoring more goals.
