  1. Let's not confuse the European Union with European Law. If we left the Union we would still be subject to many European Laws.
  2. Isn't that just for the first tie drawn? If so, shouldn't it be half of that?
  3. Man City have got to play somebody, and there are 63 possibilities for the other team, each with an equal probability of being chosen. (If not the draw would be biased).
  4. There are 32 games and team A could be any one of those. The team A could be either Man C or Man U so that doubles the chances so divide your figure by 64
  5. That would suit me.
  6. I make it 1 in 63. All outcomes are equally probable. As far as Man City (for example) are concerned there are 63 other teams they could meet, all equally likely. I'm still thinking about it.
  7. The away team doesn't get any of the gate money in a league game. All we could do is take the tickets from them and then deduct the £35k from any money that is taken from our fans in payment for them.
  8. They won't be British jobs, I'm afraid.
  9. I think your ancestors probably did. Britain has changed beyond all recognition and our descendants will be living in a country that neither of us would recognise.
  10. I agree totally. I also agree. Somebody please explain to me how having a bubble would have prevented any of these awful tragedies.
  11. Quite right Sue, we have the luxury of a variable exchange rate which only goes to highlight how much the pound has been devalued over the last few years. It does make my exports more attractive but unfortunately it also pushes up the price of my imported components. Believe me, we don't want the Euro to fail.
  12. Demands for rates must have been sent out previously. Do you know where they have been sent? Otherwise, demands are usually addressed to 'the Occupier' and are delivered to the property. I don't believe that small business rate relief is automatically applied. You, or whoever is entitled to this, might have to appply for it.
  13. Some people don't do irony.
  14. In the current circumstances I would expect them to ask for money up front. We wouldn't want the taxpayers to be subsidising them again, would we?
  15. Oh Gawd, now your all at it.
  16. And more: 'Lou Macari and Brian Hillier found guilty of placing bets on an FA cup tie in 1988'
  17. From Wikipedia: 'they admitted 36 breaches of League rules—35 of which are related to illegal payments.'
  18. 10th September: West Ham 4 Portsmouth 3
  19. Is this feasible? I mean, are they in a situation to be able to do this without the support of the parent company?
  20. How many times? These are only cuts in projected increases.
  21. There were many causes. It is still not completely understood.
  22. Blame the banks if you like, but they didn't cause the problems. It was too much borrowing, and part of that borrowing went to employing too many public sector workers. Now the rest of us are having to pick up the bill.
  23. We're not complaining about our situation. We're complaining about having to pay for the bloated public sector as well as ourselves.
  24. Let's wait for the final figures, shall we.
