Been to a few old grounds but the only old\new comparison is Reading. I'd say the new stadium was much better but the location was terrible. Old - or old style - ground list is: Arsenal Reading Saints Man Unt (with the open section) Coventry Spurs old layout Chelsea (dog track layout) Bournemouth Norwich (old style away end) Colchester Overall whilst the new grounds are definitely more comfortable I do feel that it has been at the cost of atmosphere, the baby got thrown out with the bathwater IMO.

For me, Rickie jostles with Case, Killer, Deano and Niemi as one of our best signings of the last 30 years.

Not football but.......when egg chaser Wayne Shelford ripped his ball sack (leaving his testicle hanging out) during a NZ - France game he simply went over to the touch line and stitched up his scrotum. He also lost 4 teeth at the same time (probably didn't even notice). He then ran back on to the pitch to play the rest of the match (till he got knocked out in a head collision). Legendary stuff Link.

That's not good, with McClaren in charge they were hobbled but with someone decent they might just provide strong competition. How McClaren has managed to get the jobs he has amazes me, he is absolute pants.

I'd be more concerned about injuries to key players than the state of pitches esp Rickie who we don't really have a direct replacement for. Still, I guess the same applies to all our rivals too.
-
Decent away point to a dangerous team that probably has designs on a top 6 place themselves. Good to see MS get a goal too.

I want to win this league but I'm not in the slightest bit bothered about the prem. It's an uncompetitive, plastic, greedy, removed from reality, kick off at lord knows when, totally overhyped, lose most weekends, dysfunctional circus of a league. If Man U\C, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool were to bugger off to a European league then the premm would become much more competitive but at the moment it's an annual procession. Where's the fun in that?

Arse away please, just a quick trip for me plus I'd like to see the Emirates. May even be able to nick it looking at the way they are playing at the moment.

How about just enjoying the ride and quit fretting over things that you have absolutely no control over.....

Amazing and we got those points playing Leeds, Barnsley, Ipswich, Millwall, Leicester, Forest and Birmingham - hardly mug teams & all of which (with the exception of Barnsley and poss Millwall) would have fancied their chances of top 6 at the start of the season. Deffo the best start we've had in my lifetime and fingers crossed we can keep the momentum going.

The late John Batchelor. When he bought York City he changed their name to 'York City Soccer Club' in order to appeal to 'US markets'. He also altered their crest + first team kit. When York City went into administration (Batchelor made a tidy £300k profit), he tried to buy Mansfield Town and change their name to Harchester United (after the imaginary team in Sky's TV's 'Dream team'). Just to complete the hat trick he also tried to buy Accrington Stanley with the aim of renaming them 'Lancashire United'. He was also involved in bids for Chester City and Saints (for £12.5M) in Jul 2009 (lucky escape). Died in 2010 of liver problems caused by his alcoholism. Quite possibly the most clueless chairman around - and clearly one of the worst.

I've heard that Alex Chamberlain is quite good.......

If it is, as it does seem, a head injury then they won't know if he's in the clear for at least a couple of days due to internal brain swelling. At the moment he'll still be in the 'wait and see' phase of the injury. Hope he turns out OK.

Not sure why so many have a downer on him, anyone who has played for the clubs he has must have a bit of quality about him. Looking forward to seeing what he can do for us.
-
Best of luck to the lad but he's gone, time to move on. Besides which, Arsenal aren't the only team that will get their ass royally kicked by Man Unt this season.

Exactly, I never disliked Harry, thought the ship was holed below the water when he came and when you read stuff like this you could understand why he probably felt demotivated. I've always maintained that the team Harry assembled in our 1st season in the champ was 1 good striker short of being top 2 and after asset stripping the 1st team what did L**e give him to spend?? Something like 90K on Fuller?? ............and all the time whilst Clifford\Woodward were on circa 500k per year. No wonder a top manager like Harry walked, L**e was running this club like a circus. I would have walked too. A pile of mad decisions + 2 relegations make him the worst chairman in our history by a country mile IMO, not even the slimey Askham managed to scale the heights of lunacy that he did.

I worked with his brother for a brief period a few years ago - he was a ref too.

Ipswich 2 - 5 Southampton - post match fapping session
Cabrone replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
Superb performance, 5 goals away to a team that has aspirations of at least a play off place is no mean feat. Looks like Lallana, Lambert and Cork put in huge performances. Special mention to MS with those last 2 assists. I've been critical of the lad but if he keeps that up and I'll gladly eat my words on here. Well done to all the supporters who made it up there and I hope there aren't too many nosebleeds after our first 3 wins. -
Just dug up what I wrote last Sep before he came...... "I'll look forward to Adkins if he does finally turn up. He has a track record of getting out of this league with scant resources and comes across as a decent, intelligent and honorable guy. I really like the sound of him. To those of you who question whether he is prem material may I remind you that we are in league 1 and will never get to the prem if we don't get out of league 1. One step at at time please folks." Yup, still agree with that.

Good to keep him on as he's young and still has potential to develop but definitely needs to show more ambition on the pitch. Currently behind Cork\Hammond\Chaplow.
-
Looking at that excellent goal he looks more like a winger than a left back. Maybe an alternative position for him? If we can get a quality CB + ST then I think I'll be upgrading my end of season prediction from 6-8th to top 4.
-
Hammond? Yes. Schneiderlin? No - least not until he gets out of his comfort zone, stops playing square balls in non threatening positions and makes much more effort to link up with the forwards. Can you imagine the reaction on here if MS had scored that goal yesterday? Geez, we'd have 'he's the greatest payer that ever lived' comments on here. LOL. For me Hammond\Cork\Chaplow are our best CMs, MS could be in that group but he's got to get braver first. Superb performance from Hammond BTW.

6th-8th so a 2.5 for me.
