[seasonal retort] Ho ho ho, that's a cracker....! Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

If we go behind in this one it could very well be game over. They will park the bus, and let's face it, our finishing is tepid at best. I still worry that when we need a goal, VvD often looks to be our best bet of getting back into a game. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

Totally agree. Last season I used to think that we had a chance in any of the games we played - even the so called big clubs. This season, I have no confidence whatsoever going into games against the top sides, or those in and around us to be honest. Tonight we were the home team and trying to hang on from about the 25 minute mark - we were never going to win, and Vic was pretty damn good for them tonight as well. WBA next - and personally I wouldn't be surprised if we got nothing from that either. That said, I can see us finishing 10 - 14, shouldn't really be any worse than that.
-
When he made the substitutions I actually thought - well done, that's a positive reaction - so I can't really blame Puel too much on that one. But, you're right - to a man, they offered nothing. Talk about having players on the bench who can make an impact - my old mans 83 and he could've made a bigger impact than all three of them...! Has Shane scored this season yet? He really doesn't look like he has a clue of where the goal is, let alone how to get the ball there. Long hard season for some of our lot I think.
-
Because he could, because he was live on Sky, because he doesn't have to explain the reasoning to anybody at the end of the game..... I despair with some referees, I really do. If you actually look at the foul - it occurred well outside of the box. He's right to allow play to go on, but nothing happened inside the box. I just feel that it's really easy for referees to always go in favour of the 'bigger' team - which tonight, was Spurs.
-
They were much better than us, bar the first fifteen. Shouldn't of been a pen or a red card, the cautionable offence occurred 15 yards outside of the box, but that said - I still think they would've won. I predicted them scoring a hatful at half time - and they duly obliged. Guess it's one to 'draw a line under and move on'. My concerns are that we don't really look like scoring goals against most teams. When we need inspiration - it always seems to come from VvD, he and Fonte look most likely to score in games like that. Where are our so called creative / flair players when the going gets tough? Foster didn't instill any confidence in the players in front of him with his kicking tonight and seriously needs to work on the basics when the ball is on the ground. Strangely, even after having a new one ripped by Spurs, I don't feel too deflated tonight - perhaps I was expecting it all along. Moving on - WBA next and that won't be easy - need a serious reaction after tonight though.

It's not gold dust you fool, it's a true statement. I have nothing against any of the players, or managers, they have left for better sides than us. Quite simply true. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

You can see why all of the players that have left over the last 3 or 4 years have left. They have gone to much better teams than us. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

Strangely, I can feel a right hammering coming up but I actually feel quite relaxed about it. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

We need to take Fraser out of the equation when moving it around the back, just don't give it to him. His distribution off the floor is shocking. Even when he has time and space his technique is poor, last man in the back four, just hoof it for him. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

Poor first half from us, we look like the away side. Hope Puel has got a plan B because we won't last very long in the second half if nothing changes. Spurs are all over us and will get a hatful unless something changes. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

This... 'n this as well. It really is quite tiresome going on and on about how they should somehow feel grateful towards us. Makes us look stupid, and besides, those people who raise it, probably put f'all in the bucket anyway. Decent club, who have done very well to get into the top league - hope they stay up for many more years.

Great performance today, looked solid at the back, won the ball in midfield and carried a threat up top as well. Got to hand it to Puel as well - he made good substitutions today - got it spot on. Thought Bertrand and VvD (as usual) were very strong, and have to give a special mention to PEH as well. He was woeful in the 1st half, but you could see that he was trying - when he blazed that shot in the first half that nearly went over the stand - I knew that he would be ok, he obviously still had the confidence to take the shot. Came out in the 2nd half and played really well - sign of a good pro. Jay is Jay, we all know it's in there - we just need to get it out. Ran the channels, held it up, bullied their back line and scored two - the second one, really cracking finish, very please for him. The match thread was as funny as ever. Yeah - I know, I'm not allowed to play the poster - but really - when they scored there was still about 90 minutes of the match to play, 90 minutes. Yet the usual suspects were there in force, it's just unbelievable how quickly some posters are to give up on the team - it's weird. I guess I shouldn't be surprised really - but I'm glad that I never have to actually go to a match with them - not a lot of optimism methinks. If that's a 'banning comment' - sobeit.... Merry Christmas everybody.

Yep, we can call it a drought. Next? Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

As somebody who only followed the game on the match thread (and the last 15 mins on Sky), got to thank the usual suspects for the entertainment. If you actually go back and read the thread from the beginning, most were waxing lyrical about how well we were playing. Once the sending off happened it all changed - we were total sh yte apparently. But I suspect the truth is that Stoke decided to revert to plan B, and not lose the game - and it worked. Yes, I can understand people getting frustrated about that, but in reality Stoke are a difficult team to break down these days anyway. I would have snapped your arm off for a point here before the game and so, yeah I'm a little disappointed, but hey ho, anything away from home is welcome. I guess it's all about expectations really, and mine were that we would not exceed last years points total, wouldn't win any cups, but would be about mid table - so we'er on track for that. And, for anybody who thinks that these are low expectations, then we can't be expected to better league position year upon year - it just isn't viable. (Leicester is a one off, a once in every 50 year happening). Do we need a striker - yep we do. Getting one in January though, is a whole new ball game. Nobody is going to sell you their proven '20 premier league goals a season' man, and we won't be the only club that is looking for that man. Anyway - as I said - it's about expectations really, in perspective, we are one point better off than we were yesterday. I'm fully behind Les, think he's done a great job over the course of his tenure, and I'm all for giving Claud Puel at least to the end of the season. If he takes us down (which he won't) then I wouldn't be surprised to see him go - but otherwise - give the guy some time. Anyway, once again - many thanks to the wristslitters that made the match thread so enjoyable - stay well away from the itchen bridge tonight lads - tomorrows another game. Onwards and upwards.

We won there last season, would like to think we can get something this year as well, will be a tough game though, they're no mugs and have some good players now. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

The match thread is quite frankly embarrassing. Very, very funny, but quite embarrassing as well. (Although I very much doubt any fans from other teams would read it anyway, so I won't lose any sleep over it). Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

Lots and lots of positives to take out of that. We are short of confidence, not playing at individual best levels, but have still dug in and won ugly, produced a moment of class to win the game and kept a clean sheet. Once confidence returns and individual players form improves, we'll be fine. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

Probably not, or if so, probably very tenuously, but as usual we as fans will take it literally, and then use it as a birch to constantly beat the player. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

Most of the posts on this thread have me rolling around the floor clutching my sides, why shouldn't I be able to post stupid comments as well? Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk
