It's nothing to do with having rose tinted glasses at all for me, personally. Just because he has somehow managed to mug a living in the PL for the past 3-4 years doesn't make him any good any more. He's be woeful and has lost almost all of his attributes. If you put him up against someone like Nathan Dyer, he would be skinned, almost every time.... 5 years ago, he was the best left-back in England and had everything. These days he's a shadow of a shadow of a shadow of his former self. IMO.

Never did r00t an emo

On current form and form of the last two years, I'd have our left backs every time. Bridge has completely lost most of his best attributes so he'd probably struggle whatever level
-
I would much rather have Dickson and Harding, thanks. Not just because of wages but because, IMO, they're actually better players at this very moment. Bridge is sh1te now, really sh1te. And expensive.

I love stories like this; is there any online link for the article you read?

Was devastated when we turfed out Maik Taylor but Paul Jones turned out to be a superb servant. Like many above me have already said, he had a few minor faults to his game but was definitely a "Premier League Kelvin", saving us far more points than he lost us by an absolute mile. Superb shotstopper, in my opinion, better than Niemi in that respect but Antti was a better all-round goalkeeper. Was never bothered who'd be in goal for us when we had both of them around, though. Top professionals.

"don't rate him. he will end up like walcott. not a good player." Says a Liverpool fan, somewhere in Surrey or Ireland.

England U21's without a player like Lallana
Crab Lungs replied to Crab Lungs's topic in General Sports
That's fair enough. I think we'll see that next year from AL, who has now had 2 L1 campaigns behind him since he was last involved in the NPC. We'll see, I guess! -

I think, if you look beyond whom their opposition for a moment and have a look at them as players, ability-wise. I think Lallana has far more ability than most of those midfielders and could have provided something that none of them will during this tournament; Also, it may seem like over-egging but I think we're truly know how good Lallana is when we've seen him in the Prem. FWIW, I don't think he'll disappoint (obviously!). And we'll also truly understand just how good he is when he's left us and we replaced him with a nurdler -

Noooooooooooooooooo way is Cleverley of the same calibre as Lallana. The thing is, there is not one player in that midfield, defence or attack-minded, that can really turn a game. For example, if you took Lallana out of our Saints side and swap him with any of those in the squad, would we have improved as a side? IMO, absolutely not. Do I think Cleverley has better technique, skill or ability than Lallana? Definitely not. Do I think Lallana could do everything he's done in the PL and MORE? Absolutely yes! It's a shame Lallana and Wilshere aren't both there actually as it would have been great to have seen them link up together, whilst the rest of the nurdlers fart-arse with the ball in their own half going backwards and sideways. I guess it's not their fault their technically not as good, though. At least that's getting resolved now, though it's probably going to take at least another 10-15 years for it to truly bear fruit. Pleased with a draw, but we should have been trounced, such was the gulf in class. -
... as I said previous on another thread a while go and after revisiting a similar conversation with my dad, it's a travesty that Lallana didn't go. I'm sorry, you can put as many £20m-rated water carriers in your midfield as you want, but apart from maybe Lansbury, no-one in that midfield has what Lallana has. Henderson, Rodwell, Mancienne, Rose, Muamba, Cleverley, Cork... are they better players than Lallana? Will they score 10-20 goals a season from midfield, plus assists? Sure they nudge the ball around sideways and backwards and some of them can run quite fast or put in a good shift, but very few, if any of them have anything dynamism or true ability to turn a game... and before anyone says "Oh, but Lallana hasn't done it in the Premier League" - no, he hasn't (yet) but that's irrelevant. We've all seen he has the ability of a Premier League footballer, anyway. So many ten-a-penny nurdlers and nudgers touted as footballing superheroes these days when in reality, they are solid but unspectacular. Pearce absolutely missed a trick. Ah well, at least he's getting a rest instead!

Dambusters dog/code word changed to make it Politically Correct
Crab Lungs replied to dune's topic in The Lounge
All 9,000 visitors? I think when you're marketing a big budget movie like this, it's a bit different. Besides, I'm not actually offended that there is name change. If it was something like "Porky" and it was forcibly changed in case it offended muslims then yes, that would be crazy as "Porky" isn't a derogatory term. The difference is that "******" is. -
This sounds like a match made in heaven for me. I'm **** socially but I'm fairly easy-going, so I hope she's not too bad to live with. Looks like it might be worth my while to make arrangements for a stalk at some point. From what I gather, her and David Mitchell do seem to appear on shows together quite a bit. Pah, I'll displace him. It's clearly obvious that I'm charming; just look at the title I chose for this thread
