Soup would probably be your best bet, I would have thought. And if you can manage it, fruit.

The difference? Money? Better players? Better opposition? A more realistic chance of being able to win one of the Cup competitions? The possibility of Europe, perhaps, not every year, but at least an infrequent possibility. That's enough reason for me. Yes, I've enjoyed our 'ride' outside the top division but the novelty has worn off now. We might not ever become one of the top four but I sure as hell enjoyed watching Saints play the best clubs in the country on a regular basis. Anyway, who is to say that we'll settle for just obscurity?
-
This. FWIW, we cannot afford to hang around in this division and 'establish' ourselves. If we go with that intention, or that we're happy with that, then you can bet that Lallana, Oxo, Fonte and all of our best players will be gone before long. We need to go up this season to retain them as beyond the end of next season, I cannot help but think we'll have quality players with very, very itchy feet. And who will we replace them with? Cloggers most likely, and then we'll likely end up stagnating like Coventry, Palace etc. We cannot afford to do that. We have an opportunity NOW. We have the momentum of last season, a settled and happy squad and with a few sensible additions, we can challenge. We must challenge. This is probably the best shot we'll get at promotion since we were relegated in 04/05. Let's not waste it. Worst case scenario if we get promoted is relegation - but relegation with an extra £60m in our back pocket. That's the time when we can afford to lose Lallana, Oxo, Fonte.

The mind boggles as to how they can write such crap. Yet more "woe is me but haven't we coped magnificently well" rubbish from their local rag. Like you mentioned, it can only be to create some sort of siege mentality among the braindead. Seriously, what a load of rubbish.

Oh no, don't ruin this thread with brainless bimbos! MOAR KARREN BRADY!

Who was responsible for the seating plan at the banquet tonight? He's only rocked up next to First Lady Obama! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13534368 Unless he's just keeping the seat warm for the President?
-
In the original article about unresolved contracts, it said it would be on the clubs terms...

I don't remember saying I wanted Puncheon to stay? Anyway, disagree - yes, their situations are different but Connolly said he's quite happy to work hard to get a chance in the first team if not selected; whereas Puncheon seemingly thought it was a birthright and got all sulky when he was benched.
-
Great news and what a fantastic, genuine and positive interview from DC. Take note of Connolly's attitude, Punch....
-
Not inextricably linked, but I do have a bit of a thing for Louise Bagshawe.
-
I stand corrected. Ok.. revised; On the pitch he's a shop steward sh1tehawk.
-
A rather detestable one, too.
-
I would love to see England in it and it'd definitely have more of a competitive edge than some of the meaningless friendlies we seem to have. (as you've said)... and if we done it over a period of, say, 2 years, it would be quite easy to space out the games home/away.
-
In a way, it's superb for a testimonial but for such a 'legend' surely he'd warrant more of a turnout? That said, I suppose Sky showing the game has probably put pay to any possibility of getting anywhere near capacity
-
Jesus, can Sky get any more up their arses? If the horrifying puke-worthy coverage all season isn't enough, they now see it fit to show Gary Neville's testimonial. Honestly, really... please tell me no-one is watching that crap? And in other news...: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13521267.stm I hope his son gets his arse kicked by 'Udders on Sunday, too. Now I remember why we enjoyed beating them so much!
-
Davenport wasn't great whilst he was here, but Jakobsson should shoulder far more of the blame - he played 3-4 times more games than CD, I believe - and was equally atrocious (yet for some reason, he seems to slip under the radar of a lot of supporters)
-
Who would you like to soap up the most? I bet it's Forecast!
-
Yeah, I've just realised I called someone a massive c0(k as well. Uh oh.
-
Possibly 'Arry's fault as well, (as per Turkish comments on the JR thread) if the squad thinks like that! Shocking nonetheless. I think the worst bit was that we actually went out without a whimper... United not even in 2nd gear and us huffing and puffing and getting nowhere

Barack Obama is Irish? Oh ****ing hell, what next!

Looks like we've just sneaked it. Amazing the amount of irish ancestry though... then again, their population is actually lower than it was in the 19th century........... -
No, but please tell! Now he is genuinely a massive ****.
-
I wonder if Zenden could play a more withdrawn role? Or will we just have an older Schneiderlin on our hands?
-
I idolised big Ken Monkou!

..and have a massive laugh to boot!
