I’d love someone to ask what was thinking behind the Carillo signing considering we sacked the manager who desperately wanted him not too long after. I can guarantee you won’t get an honest or straight answer to that - or admission of any mistake.

My main concerns are: - RB... are we stepping Valery up? Has Cedric really got the trots? - Prem proven CB. Yoshida basically is that but that’s all we have... Vestergaard is an improvement on Hoedt... but then again, a traffic cone is. Stephens should be a last resort or trialled at DM perhaps - Mane replacement still not solved technically. We struggle for pace going forward sometimes - Carillo cock up not resolved... unless were gonna give Gallagher a fair crack if the whip In the grand scheme of things were a bit unbalanced and there’s still a few areas we need to strengthen but this is a process and we need to be patient about it as we can’t undo it all in one window. We may be hamstrung by what we can do (sell before buy cos we haven’t actually fully shipped off Boufal, Clasie, Carillo etc.. and Forster is still lingering like an unflushable turd)

The problem is with our CBS is that we’ve got no genuine leader. Yoshida is a bit, but not a colossus ass kicker we’ve been fortunate to have in recent years. We’ve got a lot of CBs who are the types who look at each other after conceding a goal, desperately hoping a leader or organiser materialises amongst them. But they never do, and so the farce continues.

We are blatantly in for long season. We’ve still got deadwood to shift or somehow realise they’re useless and drop them (Forster, Hoedt etc) Our most recognised centre half was our 4th choice not too long ago. Too many average, gap filling players (Hojberg, Long etc) This isn’t just a reflection of the past year, it’s a reflection on the recruitment for the past few seasons. It’s literally been a basket case of a club for a couple of years now. Hashtag ‘we march on’ all you want, it really does need a overhaul from top to bottom... this might take some time though. Can’t see us going down, but the actual preseason displays have been woeful.

No doubt all the big issues will be discussed. “I’m Martin from Totton and I’ve been a season ticket holder for 60 years, man and boy, never missed a game. I’m disappointed with the colour of the new turf and the concourse bar doesn’t serve Old Thumper...” Boring ****-waving contest usually. I’ll be keenly watching on though to see what’s said... if it happens.

Armstrong looks like he genuinely has something about him. There was a flash of Lallana in some of his touches. Problem is, he'll get pigeon-holed like Tadic when he doesn't continuously hit giddy heights in every game. McQueen looks terrible on the right and unfit. Bertrand looks skinnier than he ever has. Used to like Long... can't seem to see the point in him now.

He really hasn't been great. He's probably had 5-6 games where he's been decent. A good many of the rest of them have been absolutely terrible.

Nah, far more appeal for Brighton or Plymouth I'd imagine. Bristol too. Seriously, I'd say the only thing going for us is the airport nearby and maybe the port terminal apart from that and even in spite of the redevelopments, its a pretty dour city. That, and we won't even seriously champion our cause anyway.

I think the fun of transfer windows has pretty much evaporated for most, it definitely has for me. Jim White and his yellow tie can fkkk off, as can the hoardes of degenerates on SSN acting like bellends on the last day. I think the last season I truly enjoyed was prob the first Koeman one where players were still going for big sums but they were reasonable in comparison to the last few seasons. £5, 10, 15m etc just seemed so much more reasonable and realistic. Likewise the days of reading the gossip columns in the papers, scanning to see if Southampton were linked with anyone and for how much, normally under £2m. Reading it now is an utter sh1t show. Bournemouth bidding £22.2m for players, Championship clubs spunking £50m, L2 clubs quoting £4m for their players, utter mess. Then you’ve got anyone from the top 6 sides in the European leagues with starting valuations of many of their players being in excess of £40-50m. Sooner the arse falls out of football, the better.

Rewatch those games agian. He barely has to do anything and when he does, sometimes he cocks that up but gets away with it.
