Well we rarely win at home and our defence has been a mess but now ralph is here we've got a team that likes to press Ralph said come on over come and play for me You're my favourite right back Valery Valery You're favourite right back valery

He's certainly on the right lines getting a regular game. Looks like we are keeping our powder dry and waiting for a better deal though.

I never thought it could get worse than hat K*nt and the mars bar on head incident, then last night this happened.

Another dull defensive goalless performance, thought this all ended when Eric Black/Puel/Pellegrino/Les Reed left

remains one of the best ever threads in mongboard history. 2.50am on New Years Day. Whatever happened to Liquidshokk?

:-( that's really sad, that was a great shop back in the day. I bought my first pair of football boots from there, some Patrick ones, got several other pairs, some Asics, Arrow and Quaser which were decent brands back in the 80's and early 90s, plus of course some Puma Kings which were the brand to have in about 91-95. Also got a fair bit of sports gear from there. Legendary Southampton shop and part of our heritage as a city.

I’ve heard this argument used before and whilst it’s a valid point it should also be remembered every other club has to pay these things as well, yet no other club has made such a huge income from transfers in the last 5 years. People that use loyalty bonuses and signing on fees to defend the club seem to forget that we aren’t the only club in the world who pay these things, so do everyone else. My concern is that we have an astronomical wage bill for players who shouldn’t be or aren’t anywhere near the first team. Forster, Stephens, Hoedt, Long, To name 4 are doing near on £250k a week In wages and have cost us more points than they’ve won this season. We are told we are a well run club and our corporate governance has never been better yet we’re probably paying £20m a year in wages to players who shouldn’t be anywhere near a premier league football club.

This will probably make Nordic saints cut his wrists or at least reduce him to teams but the Morroccan Norwegian said saints had been tracking his for 6 years before he signed. Which means only one thing, he was discovered by Paul "Black box" Mitchell. Another disasterous signing of his to add to the list which includes amongst others Forren, Mayuka, Ramirez & Osvaldo.

Great lad and one of those players everyone wants to do well. Met him a couple of times and he is a really decent bloke. Personally I don't think he was up to it as a premier league player which is a shame but that said I think we should have kept him in our first season back, he would have been a decent option to bring on for 15 minutes if we needed a goal and to be blunt he would have contributed an awful lot more than Mayuka did, whose only memorable moment was being brought down to win a penalty in the home game v Villa when we were already 3-1 up, other than that he might as well never have played for us.
-
13 assists I think it was. He was a competent championship player and perfect for our system in the championship which relied on full backs being able to put quality balls into the area. Frazer Richardson also got double figures for assists that season. Incredible that a key player in one of our most memorable seasons is labelled one of the worst defenders of all time. Then again one of them is someone who once accused me of being racist because I didn’t agree with him that Tanadari lee wouldn’t ever be a premier league star, I don’t think he’s ever recovered from that embarrassing moment.

Okay so I’m not a lover of Vlog or all that nonsense but after the grief you go that week decided to watch this all the way through. What I will say is you do talk a bit of sense on your video and see the game is a fair and reasonable manner. I watched it on telly and agree with many of your comment so credit where it’s due. However I really don’t see why anyone would watch it. It all seems totally pointless to watch a lad in his kid twenties video himself giving commentary on a few incidents during the game. Really don’t see what the point of it all is and why people would sit through 10 minutes of that when they can see the goals on other social media outlets. As I say I think you have half a clue about what’s Going on on the pitch which is more than can be said for 80% of the others in the ground but what you’re doing is pointless however if it makes you happy then who are we to judge.

I don’t get why people think we look knackered. You can see what he’s doing, get us to play a solid defensive shape, the problem is Targett and Valery are no good going forward to give us the width we need and Redmond and Ings are getting no change from a very physical and quick back 4 who aren’t being stretched by attacking full backs. We look solid but we don’t have the pace or width going forward for the reasons stated above.

Yep, Reed had heard of Ralphs availability and wanted to speak to him and a couple of others before making the decision but the board felt they owed it to Hughes to give him the deal full time. That was the final straw in the breakdown between Reed and the board and a parting of ways was agreed. Clearly the board have now realised the error of their ways and done what Les wanted to do in the summer and brought Ralph in. Interesting to note many of Reeds signings over the past few seasons have started to deliver too. Still our loss is the FAs gain. Not that any on here would believe it after all the mongboard myth that's peddled out is that everything that went wrong was because of Reed and all that went right was despite of him.

“Do we really have the worst/most mong fans in the country?” Yes
-
Another Les Reed signing doing well. Vestergaard coming good as well, Ings scoring for fun, Bednarek looking a class act, Armstrong looking good, Hojbjerg and Lemina becoming the one of the best central midfield pairings outside the top 6. It’s no wonder the FA have snapped him up.

Everton v Spurs 2-6 Same as Grobelaar Game scoreline
Turkish replied to spyinthesky's topic in The Saints
I always thought Grobbelar was a strange signing, he was getting on a bit, late 30s when we signed him IIRC and we already had Dave Besant on the books who was a perfectly adequate keeper. I cant remember who started the season as first choice but Grobbelaar certainly was during the season. As for that game I remember being quite optimistic, we were playing well and we had beaten them in the league earlier that season at White Hart Lane and then drawing up there bring them back to the Dell you thought we had a good chance of going through. first half we battered them 2-0 up and you're thinking job done, then it all went wrong, 2-2 at full time and fell apart in extra time. In fairness there was some quality in that Spurs team, Sheringham and Klinsmann up front but still disappointing to lose like that. We played them a few weeks later at the Dell in the league and beat them 4-3 in what was a great game. -
He really is an utter *****. He’s become known at Hat C*nt by most I know. I was told at Cardiff there were are fairly large group of our fans in swimming caps? Why? I remember at Bournemouth away a few seasons ago getting on the train at parkway and seeing a group of young lads in rara skirts and Hawaii shirts. I assumed it was a bunch of students on a day out. Imagine my despair when later that day I saw them in our end. Where do we find them?

Two particularly cringeworthy examples of embarrassing fans behaviour
-
"Dixon and Speedie will score more than Alan Shearer this season" Wasn't David Lee one of his signings too? A bit like a Lancastrian Steve De Ridder, pace so when fans first saw him they were excited but after a couple of games everyone realised he was absolutely sh*te. We had another winger called Micheal Gilkes who was equally as bad. Perry Groves was another one in that era who was a total waste of money too. The Shearer money was a bit like the Van Dijk money or it's era, used it to buy crap like Dixon, Speedie and Perry Groves, although we did get Ken Monkou who was great player. Strange era, went from having a great young team under Nicholl where despite finishing mainly midtable the fans were complaining that weren't doing well enough to bringing in Branfoot, losing everyone except MLT, wasting all the money that came in and playing some of the worst football you've ever seen in the space 18 months or so.

I’m not often wrong pal and there is a reason for that, just saying.

Even if there isn't a get out clause then transfer fees are spread over the duration of the contract, loans have a loan fee attached and we had to structure the deal so that it was loan first to comply with FFP. I would suggest that the "loan fee" is the simply first instalment of the transfer fee for year one at which point Ings will transfer his full registration to us on a permanent deal and the other instalments are paid over the rest of his contract. We wont just hand Liverpool £20m like some people seem to believe. Had we signed him as a permanent signing in August everyone would have been delighted, because it's got a loan attached to it first some people are bleating about it. Still a good signing and if he gets 12 goals or more he'd have been worth every penny. Even if we have to sign him permanently ago go down we'll have one of the best strikers in the championship to help us get back up.

Saints 3 - Arsenal 2 - I should start threads more often
Turkish replied to Secret Site Agent's topic in The Saints
Really impressed today. The desire and aggression was something we’ve not seen for a long time. I noticed with about ten minutes to go arsenal broke and 8 players were busting a gut to get back to defend, not seen that for a long time. Still lots to do, both goals conceded were sloppy but already a huge improvement. -
There are also a large number of people who drive to games, I am concerned that this is going to encourage people to drink and drive, no doubt the police will be laying in wait to catch people in a rush to issue a football related drink drive ban and push for the most severe penalties for the vile scum who use football as an excuse to leap behind the wheel after downing pints of lager.

Cortese could have done this when he promised everyone a free pint at Plymouth away. More bullsh*t from the chancer chairman. SHUT UP AND SING HIS NAME
