  1. good lad Deano!!
  2. it doesn't matter, Adkins only uses one sub a game anyway.
  3. Some have still got their heads in the sand Adrian. Blindly believing "in Adkins we trust". Wallsall was the day my patience snapped with this lot. How many of this squad can look at themselves and say they have consistantly delivered at the level they are capable of? I cant think of any. Then to hear Adkins just come out and shrug his shoulders and say "it was one of those nights" Make no mistake, today is crucial, if we fail to win and Bournemouth do win, automatic promotion is out of our hands, it will be a disgrace that we are relying on a team with 1/3 of the gates a 1/10th of the budget and lost its manager a two best players this season to f*ck up in order to achieve 2nd, which at the start of the season was the minimum that was considered acceptable by many. Still some keep their head in the sand though, shrug their shoulders "we lost a game it happens" This season we have not been f*cking well good enough, too much talk, too many excuses, its about time some of you lot woke up to it.
  4. we'd be relying on a team which gets crowds the 1/3 of ours, a budget 1/10th of ours and who have lost their manager and their two main strikers this season to f*ck up for us to stand a chance of promotion. We are 90 minutes away from being made to look total mugs.
  5. I agree Jamie, You'd expect all the teams around us to win today, if Bournemouth win and we lose promotion is out of our hands. We cant afford to slip up again this week.
  6. in the late 80's they tried third bottom in the league above played 3rd place team in the league below with the winners either going up or staying up. That was harsh, at least the teams finishing in the play offs in it current format have nothing to lose. A league system would be fairer with each team 3-6 playing each other home and away or once a a neutreal venue and the team finishing top goes up but the extra games would probably mean it'll never happen. I like the play offs anyway, they are exciting and mean that everyone from 5th-12th still have something to play for come the last month of the season. It's great if you win them, horrible if you lose in them, as we well know, but thats football, for every winner there is plenty of losers.
  7. It did hurt, because it emphasised what is wrong with this team. If things dont go our way and we get an early goal and can steamroller a side we panic, resort to long balls and percentage football and lack the fight and guile to impose ourselves on teams that dont roll over for us. A poster on the UI site called us flat track bullies, which is a pretty spot on description. If anyone seriously thinks this team is living up to it's expectations and ability then they are mental. I'm getting bored and sick of the excuses, tuesday wasn't "one of those nights" when we dont get the luck, when we didn't get the early goal the same thing happened, which has happened every time this season. Up until a month or so ago i expected automatic promotion, even expected us to catch Brighton, but tuesday nights performance the reality hit home.

  9. I'm only the messenger but it wouldn't surprise me. Given that Southend, Gilllingham and Coventry were all angry with us for our treatment of them with the bids/transfers of Barnard, Jackson and Ward. Adkins move hit a speed bump because he wouldn't resign etc. Is it just conicidence that the only moves that went through in January were loans, loans become permemnant and one permenant deal for a player S****horpe wanted out? This depsite us apparantly putting in "substancial" bids for players early in the window.
  10. Excatly, you have certain players like Lambert, Gully & Harding who get picked week after week regardless of their performances and the likes Richardson, Dickson and Barnard who come in and have one game where they aren't good, they dont even nessasarily seem to have to play badly and you dont see them for another month. IMO Richardson and Dickson are the best in their position so should play. The defence looks much more solid with them in it.
  11. With Richardson and Dickson the back 4 look much more solid, i'd recall them. Tomorrow i'd play 4-5-1 when defending 4-3-3 when attacking Lambert up front alone with Chaplow or Hammond breaking forward when attacking, Lallana wide left, If Gully & Chamberlain are injured N'Gessen wide right and butterfield if MS is injured as the holding midfield player. The other formation we can look at is 4-2-3-1 with Butterfield and Hammond as the 2 defensive midfielders, Lallana, Chaplow and Dickson (with Harding used at left back) or N'Gessen (assuming Chamberlain and Gully aren't fit) across the middle as attacking/breaking forward midfielders and Lambert upfront. There you go, lets try something different than 4-4-2 for once shall we, which IMO is dated formation, how many top clubs play that way these days?
  12. Top of the World - FC United of Manchester Marching All together - Leeds Follow Follow - Ranger NO one likes us we dont care Millwall
  13. Are you mental? Here is out last few games and my assesment. I was at them all apart from Hartlepool and Tranmere and some very good friends were at them and reported back. Notts County 0-0 - Sh*t Tranmere 0-2 Sh*t Exeter 2-1 Okay a little forunate to win Peterborough 4-4 okay, would have won but for defensive errors, again Carlise 1-0 sh*t Hartlepool 0-0 sh*t Swindon 4-1 sh*t but for the first 15 mins and last 20 when 3-1 up. WAllsall 0-1 Sh*t So we played well for the total of 35 minutes in the last 8 games, taking 12 from a possible 24 points. This is hardly the mark of a team "coming into form" or one which claims it is capable of closing a ten point gap on the league leaders with only 45 left to play for. I dont know why people cannot accept the performances have not been good enough, the players have not been good enough and the management has not been good enough.
  14. Indeed is true. Although i dont agree with your constant bleating for new signings during every transfer window, i would wager the the total spending of all the teams currently above us since we have been in league one is less than we spent on Lambert and Fonte. Yet we need to spend more some will say, How much more is it going to take? I have defend the team for most of this season as you well know but Wallsall was the time my patience snapped with this side. For some it is not registering how poor this result was, it's not registering that our season is going down the sh*tter because the self titled best side in league one and title challengers dont have the arseh*le to bat down teams that dare to stand up to them. How much more do we need to spend? How many more "i know we were sh*t last night but we'll be better next game" rallying calls from the players do we need? How many more "one of those nights" are we going to have? The title has as good as gone anyone that thinks we will catch Brighton is dreaming, automatic promotion is looking increasingly unlikely and i really dont believe the team has it in them to go up via the play offs, tuesday night was proof of that. The problem is, most of our fans seem to buy the excuses, seem to accept the performance and dismiss it with the usual "we lost a game, it happens" Sorry but losing 4 out of 10 games against teams fighting relegation is totally inexcusable.
  15. a quick wideman? yes. He's played for about 20 minutes since he's been here, been injured for a large part of it, what sort of impact do you expect?
  16. The other one was Joe Lewis apparantly. He also said he lives next door to Joe Lewis, make of that what you will.

  19. That top cougars thread was quality Yeah Pat, was on the "saints will pay dearly for not buying" thread. NIck seems to have it in for Lambert and Harding at the moment, i think Dickson is better than Harding but think Lambert hasn't been as bad he says the last few months and i go to a fair few away games so dont fall into the category of fans he talks about that have a pop at him (NIck) becuse they only see players at home.
  20. Indeed. Below is taken from the UI site, like with most things on the internet i am not 100% sure of its accuracy but the poster is well known and respected and has been involved in proffesional football himself, make of this what you will but might explain a lot. "You have to question the way we negotiate for players, we saw it last season as well. The only success we really had has come via a panel which decides a fair price..ie Richardson / Dickson. These players are disaffected with their clubs and wanted away. We even got a taste of our negotiating tactics when trying to agree compo for Adkins. Atkins was ADVISED if he resigned there would be no compensation to haggle over. Who advised him ????? Certainly not his agent, and certainly not anyone from S****horpe. If you remember Adkins refused to do so out of respect for his old club. So it had to come from someone here at SFC. We also have the example of Matt Philips from Wycombe. After an initial approach Wycombe were infuriated at our "derisory offer". Then an improved offer was tabled, which caused the chairman of Wycombe to refuse to answer the phone to our chairman, and all discussion ended there. Now I am in a position to know exactly what those 2 offers were. £50k, then £54k! The player was sold two weeks later for £254k, plus add ons. Suggests to me whoever is advising NC how to negotiate, and how to talk to other clubs, doesn't have a clue. The only transfers that went through with any kind of smoothness, without the two clubs falling out were lambert and Fonte. Pardew negotiated the Lambert deal in it's entirety. Cortese was involved in the background of the Fonte deal, with Pardew again doing the talking. Since then, all negotiations for players has been the responsibilty of Nicola with Les Reed advising him. In fact Les Reed advised NC ion the appointment of our present manager and also advised him on the level of compo he should offer. We all remember the bitter complaints from Southend over the Barnard deal and the way they were treated. And again Gillingham refusing to speak to us over the aborted Jackson deal. Coventry City and WARD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't think you have to be a rocket scientist to realise what is going on"!
  21. He has been injured since the Carlise game i believe.
  22. Turkish is not happy with being second FFS. He is going to have to try harder FFS. He is going to speak about himself in the third person from now on FFS and end every sentance with FFS, FFS. :x:x:x:x
  23. Harchester Uniteds Danny Sullivan used to go on their fans forum with the login Dragon Slayer and revealed all sorts of internal goings on at the Dragons Layer. This was after he became bitter about his injury forced him to retire. Proof is here 5 seconds in.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1p7UZBeKZho
  24. You can tell me when you go to places like Exeter, Walsall, Hartlepool and Dagenham and play in front of 3-4,000 fans that we belong in league one though, surely?
  25. You wanted L1 cover players, you got L1 cover players. As i said before, i really dont know what sort of players people expected to join a league one side as a cover player. I'm with Hypo, my definition of strengthening the squad is based around quality not quanitity.
