He also fails to mention that it was certain members of the press that made him a favourite, not all supported him, neither did all fans.

Centre midfield for me, has a touch of Alan Ball the way he knows where he is going to pass the ball before he receives it. Very aware of what is around him. It is good that he playing different roles, that will only make him a better player.

The slow build up play (via Wanyama) is the cause of our lack of goalscoring. When we quicken the tempo and introduce Gaston we will be fine. But as I have said before, statistically conceding no goals earns more points than scoring two goals in the history of the EPL.

Agree, the only difference between this and the performance in the last two games was that we out scored the opposition. As you would expect, I see that as a positive! The team spirit, epitomised by the way we defend as a unit is going to take us a long way, all we need is a spark in the final third, bring it on Gaston.

At the end of last season when J-Rod was playing as the left of the 3 in the 4-2-3-1 formation, as soon as Rickie pulled out to the left J-Rod would move to take up the role in the centre. Probably why Merson thinks we play 4-4-2! Earlier in the thread there was a link to a report saying that Osvaldo prefers the same role as J-Rod plays above.
