He did well, but poor lad was blowing out of his proverbial by half time. Not surprising, that is a big role against a quality defence for a debut.

SwissToni? You may know me better by my other name AlpineSaint!

Yes, I think profit and loss is calculated on a rolling three year basis starting this year.

If he gets the job then that means we can claim we have a fan on the board, like the bestest down the road!

Wasn't Andy Oldknow the first CEO of the Leibherr era? Perhaps he is in the frame again.

Mauricio Pochettino staying as Southampton manager - Official
positivepete replied to Ashley Grute's topic in The Saints
And if you look at the "corresponding fixtures" method of scoring we are 9 points ahead of where we were for the equivalent fixtures, so on course for a 50 point season. I am still backing my original assertion that we will finish on 55 points this season. -
Aisle seat is a good tip. I took my two grandsons to the Burnley game, sat in the Kingsland centre. Also went into the club with them. No phones to play games on, they were fine. I am repeating the trick for the Yeovil game.

There is more patience amongst most football supporters who go matches than there is among football supporters who spend their time trolling on football message boards!

Puncheon to Palace - Perm Signing (Confirmed)
positivepete replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
So has Punch gone to Palace? Just asking -
No chance of that, the only way to progress is to buy first team players, "improve your weakness", and our recent purchases suggest that is the way we operate now.

Jordan Rhodes did not start against Man City today because his manager says he cannot play a lone striker role, he is not mobile enough. So no chance of him coming here unless you are looking for another player to bait. Back on topic, pleased to see Danny play today, used to see him play as a youngster, he was decent then but never thought he would make a pro at championship level. Hats off to him, he has worked hard and made the most of his chances. Hope is becomes an inspiration for other kids playing in the Tyro League.

Terry Paine went through the lower leagues and onto a World Cup winners medal with Southampton. If Rickie emulates that he will certainly be a modern day hero! Great post Adriansfc!

Post Match Reaction: Newcastle United 1-1 SAINTS
positivepete replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Wenger on the defeat to Man City.... Wenger said. "I do not want to look for excuses after a defeat like that; we made too many mistakes running after the score and should not have conceded six goals, but the game on Wednesday did not help. The situation was not ideal, but what hurts me most is that we missed the chance to go nine points ahead of City. They were not unbeatable. They are one of the teams with a chance, of course, but I would not say they are the best team we have played this season. Everton were as good as Man City, and so were Southampton. -
Except that in a recent interview he said he would not go to a big club just to go missing like many his age, he wants to learn by getting the chance to play first team football. Who better than us? Does Sam Gallagher play in the same Scottish age group? Maybe he could have a word?

I missed the match so my son took his nephew, my 8 year old Grandson. My grandson went in a glory hunting City fan and came out a Saints fan. Great performance. COYR. -
Le Tissier on the introduction of sin-bins
positivepete replied to Giamlarrahan's topic in The Saints
Blue cards aka sin bins are approved by the FA and used in five a side. It often helps the referee in controlling a game that is threatening to boil over. It does at least mean that the punishment is applied in the match the offence is committed. -
He should have tried Newcastle, they seem to pay a high proportion of fees!
-
The table would look even better if the number of deals and the value of those deals were alongside the agent spend, I suspect our ratio of agent spend to transfer fees would be pretty good.
