Spot on. It is also worth pointing out that he was not in the first team squad pre season, he has made a late entry into the squad. Let us see next season how he progresses having been part of the pre season training squad. If any of you saw the footballers football show with Les Reed you will appreciate how important training with the first team squad is better than going out on loan.

Brisbane Saints
positivepete replied to Kingsbridge Saint's topic in Overseas Saints / Supporters Groups
Well done the Roar. Champions again. Hope you all had a good time. Great to see a full house. Not sure when I will be back again, but hope to catch up again soon -
Perhaps Rovers can join in the action with the relegated PL clubs. These clubs are citing the AFC Wimbledon points deduction this season and comparing it to the lack of points deductions for Sunderland.

55 points, as I predicted at the start of the season! Mind you I will happy to be wrong if we end up on 58 points......
-
Just to back up my point about Brisbane http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2014/may/01/a-league-grand-final-tactical-preview

It of course fails to add that Brisbane who top the possession stats in the A league are also the most successful A league side!

I predicted 55 points at the start of the season getting close now. I have really enjoyed watching the way we play home and away. What a strong season for our second season back in the top flight.

Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 2-0 Everton
positivepete replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Really tough to call motm between Cork and Davis. Both outstanding. Honourable mentions to Clyne and Shaw. Good to see how we imposed our game on Everton today. -
On a scale of 1 to 10, how happy are you with saints at the moment?

9/10, an enjoyable season and a platform to move onwards and upwards -
Whilst the left back is only one member of the defence, defenders are generally underrated when it comes to transfer fees. Remember a clean sheet is worth more points on average than scoring two goals a game. I hope he stays, but if he goes for a lot of money then that does not signal the end for our plan, sometimes it is worth cashing in, especially if it means the manager and the rest of the core players like Morgan, Lovren, Adam, and J rod stay

I agree, I was on the point of giving up my ticket under Strachan. I pray that we do not go back to that attritional style

There is no way Utd will appoint a manager who has not won a top league title somewhere. They will probably do what they should have done last time and gone for the DoF and coach combination.

Saw a quote from Shilton praising Marshall the other day. Be interesting to see what we do in that department in the next window.
-
And in the away game, couldn't believe he was being touted for England by some of the press last week.

A decision review when a goal has been scored, as was the case yesterday, will not slow the game down. If was kept to that, like the goal line technology, is it a goal or not, is a sensible move. The game is about goals, we should at least award them correctly.
-
When the story of this season is written it will have to sum up how we mixed tight defence, all our away wins to date are clean sheets, with the frequent concession of comedy goals. We have conceded more comedy goals this season than I can remember in a single season. But the truth is, on the date I write this we are one of only seven teams with a positive goal difference, so we must be on the way to getting the balance right.

Yeah, but he is a decent coach

That is the problem with the proliferation of electronic media, if they say nothing there is no content. The choice is simple, no content or made up content, so we get made up content.

I agree Corky. We play a very similar style to Bayern with full backs as the wide outlets, and lots of movement up front, and dominating possession. I would rather watch my team with the ball than the display that MU put up at home where they decided not to play, just defend and hope. If they had defended any deeper they would have been in the stands.

Who the f... is laughing now?

Are we just accepting shaw will leave in summer?
positivepete replied to Roger's topic in The Saints
Agree with that except the first sentence. It is not naive to think that if MP signs a new contract the group of players might stay another season. In the past when good players moved on we were not in a position to challenge in the top league, next season with this group plus a couple of additions we could be a force. -
Looks like Allardyce could be looking for a job in the summer. Would suit each other nicely, let's start a rumour on POL! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/west-ham/10727626/Sam-Allardyces-future-at-West-Ham-is-under-threat-even-if-he-saves-club-from-relegation-this-season.html

We should make it a nutjobs day out

Pompey takeover saga

Really shouldn't have been an issue, a small price to pay. Cracking night raised over a grand from the auction. Great contributions from our cup winners Hugh and Jim, and a great job with the auction from Mark Dennis. Thanks to all the players who turned up, great to hear their tales and their love for the club. My first London Saints event, thanks to all that organised it and attended.
