  1. Well according to that Sheringham was much better than MLT. Or might Sheringham's 'success' actually be the success of the teams he played for?
  2. Guan posted yesterday after the game at about 11.34. Said the special attendee was owlface Hodgson.
  3. Apparently the problems with Caulker are that he makes bad decisions (e.g. passes to someone in his own area rather than hoofs it out to safety) and loses concentration occasionally (so his attacker gets away and gets a chance on goal). As I see it, Yoshida is no different (possibly worse - I do remember Caulker being good with the ball at his feet) but I agree he has improved. I don't consider him good enough to be anything other than 4th/5th, however, if Saints are a team with aspirations. It was apparent that Vitesse did seem to want to attack the Targett/Yoshida partnership as they saw it as the weak area and I think that was the case. Possibly the knew of Yoshida because of his time in Holland, but either way I think he's now the equivalent of Jos and should drop down the pecking order. It was interesting to note how many times Clasie showed for the ball and didn't receive it from others, especially the centre backs which was another annoying thing: just going to the wings and not mixing it up enough. It was an ok performance at best but in the fury of the PL isn't likely to be good enough to achieve anything other than mid-table obscurity. So in summary: Yoshida's not good enough and the team have played well in very little spells only so far.
  4. Yes. It's why he didn't train properly for a while when he joined.
  5. 10-14 depending on progress in EL.
  6. Nice to see who's bottom of that list. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/11632491/Premier-League-Manager-of-the-Season-as-voted-for-by-YOU.html?frame=3319163
  7. Didn't realise they were formed from a team kicked out of the league for being unsporting: http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Portsmouth/Portsmouth.htm
  8. Al-Habsi's been released by Wigan. Might be an ok stop-gap.
  9. Good read about the Greg Dyke fantasy: let's hope he gets a job elsewhere as soon as. On an aside, it's fascinating to see how quickly (and well) you've anglicised yourself Mr Redslo. I assume it's now so natural others haven't noticed.
  10. Nah. Far too sensible and structured. Haven't you read the posters on here? They wouldn't have a clue. And, as was said above, it would take a lot of tech...sorry, tenners.
  11. Agree with LLP. Blackburn were functional but didn't look as though they had anything more to add to their game but when it opened up it looked as though we did. The first hour or so was very even though. Thought the number 4, Gape, actually looked pretty good and Hesketh still looks like a 12 year old. Mugabi looked ok at defending but doesn't offer any threat in an attacking sense and if Will Wood puts on more weight and learns to kick a ball cleaner and better ( a lot of sliced kicks from our lot) he does look very capable. Was interesting to see how they marked the man and we marked the space/ball and how Seager found it so difficult because he always had too much attention from their defenders although as it opened up and he came deep he got better. McQueen and Gallagher should have offered a lot more I thought.
  12. Just seen that. Would increase Matic's ban to 10 games for excessive over-reaction. Barnes just lost the ball and lunged for it, doubt he even knew about anything else.
  13. I'm simple in my approach: Pay what the bloke's worth. The offers made sound pitiful tbh. Would have been better to promise big add ons and if he proved a success as is likely then Feyenood (the best academy in Holland) profit very well.
  14. Have you told the club? Sounds like they might accommodate you if you make it known officially.
  15. Quote: "I'm sure that you mean well Redslo but I have to confess that after reading about 10% of what you have written I lost the will to live Perhaps if you were to keep your points a bit more concise they would have more of an impact ? " I disagree. You don't get insightful, critical analysis without depth and it's not as though he writes in a fashion that is beyond comprehension of the average reader. Maybe you should just stick to Twitter?
  16. Actually what would be interesting would be the area where Saints could set up a franchise to start a double-pronged attack on the US market and look to get their hands on all the talent coming through in the future. Football talent for those of a bear's persuasion, that is.
  17. I like those ones where you peer into the English game from the outside and do a bit of research. Slightly off-topic but your researching and commenting on the Glazers' use of the Mancs would be interesting. Other than that, the different cultural view and research-based views you take (I prefer quality over quantity, although your predictions aren't bad).

    Hesketh

The word has a broader meaning than that given in wiki, so WC is right (cause he used it to mean "showing a form of parochial, biased, support for a cause/belief/idea" e.g. the bestest.

    Hesketh

Agree on the first point; hadn't thought of the 2nd as a possibility.
  20. Lovren it.
  21. I agree with keeping a winning team. I don't agree with Mayuka.
  22. Good points. Wondered about the Hesketh substitution too: physically he looked just far too lightweight and didn't really get involved enough (i.e. he could have done a bit more). Did get a bit cramped in the middle at times though.
  23. If you can't beat a fu( ing pub team you deserve jack $it. We turned it on for about 3 1 minute spells, were better than them when we were crap and still lose. Mayuka, Mane and Yoshida all look poor (to complete dog-turd) and it was like we were back to having good ol' Jos in defence. Had to leave the pub early: the plastics were f(g annoying too.
  24. Shoulda voted for Karl then :/ ...
