to be honest i agree here. i know i have only seen him in three games but a player that is the focal point of our attack to show so little is a real worry. I felt he had a really poor touch, was immobile and very poor in the air. **** i miss Sir Rickie. Forget the service he received, the ball never stuck when it was played into him and if he did maange to hold it up he seemed unable to pick a pass for the midfield if they did manage to support him. i really hope he grows into the role but as yet i have not seen any signs that he is remotely decent. when osvaldo joined saints at least you could see there was some ability there regardless of whether he delivered or not

Whilst we are selling to clubs with genuine Champions league ambition then you could argue that we are always going to struggle to keep a player once they decide they want to go. What worries me now is that the rest of the squad will be seeing the lack of ambition and it is now only a matter of time before the lower clubs see us as fair game. Once a player moves from saints to a team we consider our equal (midtable clubs) then we can truly see it all imploding. Personally I think the smaller clubs will be sniffing the remains of the carcass for what they can get.

he will absolutely sign the new contract for more money, why would he not? he could double his money right now and stll leave at the end of the season if a big offer comes in. when has a contract ever stopped a player from a small club move to a bigger club when abig bid comes in? certainlly not at saints. the club offering a larger contract are doing so to protect against selling for a reduced fee. jay rod with a 5 year contract is worth 20+ but with 12 months we get maybe 10-12
