It looks like he was flying with rudder and elevator only, if so looking at the over controlling I thought he had to crash on landing. It was a magnificent landing.

Does that mean that the away supporters are only in the corner and behind the goal is now home fans.

Football League Paper: Player rumours - Howard and Bolasie
derry replied to Tac-tics's topic in The Saints
We have been talking to Brian Howard or more likely his agent since last summer. Pardew was after him but he signed a new three year contract at Reading. Although he wants to play for Saints I can't see it happening. As for Barnsley, not for the contract he has at Reading for another two years plus his wife from Totton and a new house at Bartley, he doesn't need to move anywhere at this time. -

Adkins has a 66.66% win ratio - 26 league wins in 39 matches. Win on Saturday it could be 67.5% for the season. - 29 inc cup wins in 43 matches 67.44% again win on Saturday could be 68.18%. I believe that is an all time record for any manager albeit in the third tier and really only a comparison with last year or pre 1960. Since Christmas 19 wins in 26 games - 73.07%, win on Saturday 74.07% which is unbelievably good. 61 points in 26 games - 2.35 points average win on Saturday 2.37. Started in 22 place with a defeat and a draw and improved from there. The big difference with Huddersfield was the 19 wins against 15 since Christmas. A Brilliant start.

It looks like Adkins has done a bit more than just manage us to promotion. Although Davis has made one or two crass errors, positional or near post, it looks like Adkins is getting him to do a lot more than he was doing earlier in the season. He throws the odd one out of play but is now passing short to his defenders, he is also relieving pressure by catching some crosses, that together with his excellent shotstopping and accurate long kicking he is a much better keeper than earlier in the season. It is likely that Adkins has been proactive, identifying the weaknesses and getting the coaches to work on improvement rather than trying to bring in a replacement. Having said that I wouldn't be surprised to see Joe Murphy at SMS next season as I think he could be out of contract in the summer.

To avoid acrimony in July when I presume that the season tickets will be on sale as last year it would be sensible for those that created last year,( that said that they would have saved the money given notice ), to anticipate the possibility that there won't be an instalment plan. That way if there is an instalment plan, they arrange a personal instalment plan their savings wouldn't be needed but if there is no plan at least they will be in a position to purchase the season ticket.

Bournemouth have had a couple of gutsy seasons and achieved miracles on a very small budget. If they win the playoffs I'll take my hat off to them. Huddersfield are the best team in it, if they don't win, it will be because somebody else was better on the day.

Well done, 58 points in the last 25 games, promotion as good as done. Joined us with only four points after six games in 22nd place pulled us together and after Christmas really did the business.

Last 25 games, on 28th December, Saints beat Huddersfield including that game Saints 18w 4d 3l, 58 points. Huddersfield 15w 9d 1l 54 points. What an important win that game was!.

Early 1950's Eric Day on the right wing received a ball over his left shoulder from behind and brought it down on his right instep, fantastic skill. Christie, Wilkins,Traynor, McLaughlin, Parker, Elliott, Flood, Reeves, Day, Mulgrew, Hoskins. Kiernan, Page, McGowan, Walker played in that era. Tony Godrey was the youth team goalkeeper v Man Utd I'm not certain but I think Brian Flood also played in that team in goal. Bob Charles first played for Saintsfirst team as an 18 year old in 1959/60 the promotion year.

Tony Bliar, Gordon (I'd like to run the IMF) Brown, David ( I've changed my mind) Cameron, Nick (who?) Clegg, Boris (I fancy that) Johnson, etc, etc. No thanks. The Royal family may be an anachronism but they are our anachronism, spare us from the self serving crooked type of people that put themselves forward as Presidents and God forbid they could be anything but a figurehead.

Faded out on me between Dorchester and Honiton. A bit patchy on 96.1 at low points on route. I don't know about AM 999 Khz which appeared to be out of range, but FM 91.6 MHz is VHF and line of sight.

I was Bill, I was on crutches after broken leg, Plymouth let me sit on the seats right on the touchline under the stand wall. Also LO.

I've just had a look at some of the stuff, what schizophrenic rubbish. One thread yesterday was assuring the Huddersfield supporter that this was their must win game, no let up, undefeated at home and wanted 100 points. Today they lose, didn't need to win, game meant nothing etc, etc. What a bunch of knobs, with joined up thinking like that it would be better not to put their thoughts down in writing.
-
We had a poor start, only 5 points from the first 7 games, then the settling in of the new manager. It wasn't until after Christmas that we really got going. We have matched them since then. In 23 matches we have taken 52 points. In the first 19 games we had taken only 28 points. By my reckoning over the season at the latter rate we would have amassed 104 points to put Brighton in perspective. In Adkins 36 games we have amassed 76 points.

The goals weren't hoofball. Last ten minutes, need to win one goal down, Butterfield gets down the touchline and crosses to the penalty spot, Lambert nods down to Connolly who spins left and shoots into the right hand corner of the goal. Two minutes to go and we have a free kick five yards into our half on the left touchline, Davis hits a deep cross to the back of the box, Fonte attacked the ball and nodded over the goalkeeper into the net with Lambert following the ball into the net. I've seen plenty of similar Brighton goals like this on tv this year and more than their share of scruffy goals like their first today. What did he expect Saints to do in the last ten minutes needing a win. The simple fact, his defence didn't cope with the pressure and folded. The man is a knob, following in the footsteps of many one eyed managers without the good grace to give credit where it is due.

£80m to £90m on stadium.
-
The Brighton fans, management, publicity people really set themselves up for this with their petulant behaviour. All I can say after their arrogant transparent behaviour, is 'have some of that'. A more graceless bunch especially after their brilliant season it would be difficult to conceive. It is a terrific way to put their season to bed, end their unbeaten run, end their unbeaten record at home and now leave them facing possibly another defeat next week. A brilliant result, back in the driving seat, forget this one and Brighton move on to Monday and take it from there.
-
Give them their guard of honour before the game if that's what they need to make their chip on the shoulder feel better. Psychologically it will really annoy our players, wind them up and get them tearing into Brighton to prove a point.
-
This is not specifically aimed at Brighton, it's good that they have built a nice new stadium costing something like £80m - £90m however it would be well to remember that the majority of clubs that have built new stadiums including ourselves have gone into administration or suffer financial meltdown at best.

Saints 1 V 0 Bristol Rovers, post match sighs of relief..

Stephens wasn't very quick either. As I said previously we need a couple of strong leaders in midfield which we just don't have. -

What a pathetic attitude. If you had any real football knowledge you would be able to join in discussions instead of regularly resorting to sarcasm. -
Davis, Fonte, Jaidi, Dickson, Lallana, Hammond, Guly, Lambert, Connolly

Brighton have been promoted and won the league, this is just the week that the euphoria plus the after the Lord Mayor's show could end up creating a blip for them. It is a cup final for us and I have a sneaking suspicion it's the sort of game we will win. Play the best team available.
