  1. Mrs LS and I went to the last one at SMS in the wind and rain. Recommend it to all that can get there. We are definately going again. We have been to loads of these over the years at SMS and Marchwood, a good cheapish night out, if you bring your own eats.
  2. As has already been stated, how long would it take you to sort out all your affairs to move to a country halfway round the planet. Why do some of you see problems in every little thing. I for one am eager to see Tandori (as my kids called him) play for us. No problem, no conspiracy, just sorting out personal affairs and paperwork.
  3. Totally agree. Mrs LS and I went. Don't think it will be quite so wet and windy this time though.
  4. The Beatles.
  5. Led Zep Mountain Supertramp Bob Marley Jeff Healey Sabbath Tull Etc.
  6. Irony of the CSI/WRC statement is their use of NOS to describe CSI's WRC rights company. NOS is also used for nitrous oxide or 'laughing gas'.
  7. I have work colleague who is a Plymouth supporter. He would rather be playing badly and top of his league at New Year. Rather than playing well and bottom. So would I. Despite having a poor December we are just still top. We are virtually gauranteed now not to get relegated. And even if we return Decembers points tally for the remaining months of the season we are likely to be around the playoffs. I get as frustrated as the next man/woman when we don't get results, but just a modest improvement in form should see us promoted this season.
  8. SFC are like any other company, they can with the right leadership, ambition, investment etc. and an element of luck grow and expand into a world leader. There are many ifs and buts in this. Hate to say this but, look at Spurs, they are riding high in the PL and not one of the big 3, it is possible. But money, the right man/woman at the helm, ambition and a dollop of luck could see any club see success.
  9. Done a bit of googling, it was actually1974, and I was 14. Strange how your mind gets things wrong. Still didn't forget how good they were.
  10. Just reacquainting myself with Mountain. Mrs LS brought me set of their first 5 albums for chrimbo. Forgot how good they were. Leslie Wests guitar playing absolutely superb. Nantucket Sleighride, Swampboy, Mississippi Queen et al. Remember listening to my older brothers 'Mountain Avalanche' album when I was about 11 or 12, about 40 years ago now.
  11. Just had a quick look at that league manager thingey for last year. Fergie top, Adkins second (by only 1 point). Does that make therefore, Adkins as second best manager in English Football? There is a point for discussion over a few pints down the Ferret and Firkin.
  12. Sorry have to disagree with you. Lallana was no worse with his passing than any Saints player today, and far better than most Palace players. Yes of late he hasn't been his sharp self, and there may be a little lack of confidence that he is overcoming, but the last couple of games he has seen a marked improvement back to his old self. His join up play quick and incisive. Yes sometimes it didn't come off, but so sometimes didn't Lamberts, Guly's, Fox's or Fonte's.
  13. Sorry child of hot fords of the sixties. Aquaplane, Allard, etc. Overfinch new to me. But surely even they must have baulked at the idea, unless their work was done before that paint/vinyl wrap job. Pure unadulterated chav. It's so ugly driver probably waits till dark to drove it so not to be seen.
  14. Could have been worse. Could have rearranged letters of Range Rover. Oh!!!!
  15. Just got back. Weather horrendous, swirling wind and torrential rain. SFC were a class above Blades. No Saint had poor match. Good team effort, could tell used to playing together regularily. Ward-Prowse generalled midfield, and was probably my MOTM. His goal was also cracking shot from about 25 yards. All in all good performance.
  16. Anyway as Wes T has said. If NC has already started very early informal questions of Southampton Planners, he must believe there is a reason we will need a bigger stadium, and there is a sound financial case for at least investigating the possibility. No one but NC and ML 's family know what if any financial legacy SFC was granted or has subsequently been promised, so none of us know under what terms any money will be borrowed / raised/ or even donated.
  17. Attendences at any club depend on three main things:- 1. Geographical area/Available fanbase. Teams like Saints have only one major club in the city and surrounding area so have a wider available fanbase than say Brentford who are just one club in many in a large city. 2. Proximity of PL or 'Glamour' club. Brentford again have Chelsea, Arsenal, and even QPR within relatively close proximity. Tranmere have Liverpool/Everton. 3. How well team performing. The growth of a football club is not in its present fans, but in attracting new predominantly young supporters. Saints have no other major club within many miles so their potential fanbase although often covering more rural areas is still quite large. Saints have numerous seasonticket holders from Salisbury, Andover/Winchester/Poole/ Fareham already. We also have no Glamour clubs to which new fans/kids can easily go. My nephew for instance as a young kid perported to be a Manure fan, but after taking him to St Marys he is now a Saints fan. In the dark days of our close demise and shortly after our crowds dipped to closer to 15,000 than 20,000, but now with success we are getting 10,000 more than that. When we again reach the PL we have the potential of 40,000 with the right development of new supporters.
  18. Night of our famous 6-3 win over Manure it was Honiton carnival. I wore my Saints shirt with obvious pride, and besides some supportive comments was pelted with Beer bottles (empty).
  19. Premier League Football is shown on TV's right across the planet, so it is not really surprising that those footy mad people where ever you go have some knowledge of present and past PL clubs. I've watched PL matches live on tv in Aswam (Egypt), where you will also see Manure, Chelski, etc shirts. The PL is a huge potential advertising space for your Clubs merchandising operation. Which is another reason why NC wants us there asap.
  20. Not an injury as such, but many years ago watching Saints on tv at my mothers, Saints scored, I jumped up an punched the air, putting my fist through her glass lampshade. Stupid thing is a while later I did exactly the same thing in my own home. Muppet.
  21. Had confirmation today that I need minor surgery on my knee following being injured 'watching' Saints. I was stood in Northam when Saints scored. Some drunken person about 4 rows behind fell over starting avalanche of supporters. I ended up trapped between seat and fallen fans, twisting my knee and tearing my meniscus. Anyone else sustained injuries watching Saints.
  22. I have had a brief trawl through other fans websites, and have found numerous threads on the ineptness of Walton. Besides us and obviously Brighton, they included fans of Manure, Man city, West Ham, Northpton, Liverpool, Leeds, to name but a few. Walton must be consistently bad to geneate this amount of wordage, why is nothing done about him.
  23. Is there anything the fans can do when a ref is this bad. Even on the Football League show they highlighted his wrong decisions. The Brighton fans are as annoyed/frustrated about his poor display as we are. Who do we e-mail or contact to complain. Is it the refs association? Or the FA? or both? This clown repeatedly gives performances like this, perhaps we should all complain, and I mean both sets of fans, perhaps eventually they may take some notice/action (but I wouldn't hold my breath).
  24. Mrs LS says 'Hot'.
