I suspect the £10M offered by Arsenal would have been £5M up front and the rest add ons. Still a huge amount of money, but less than we want (or need!) for a player so highly rated. It does feel awfully good to be in such a position of financial power.

Read the OP £15M isn't what has been offered for him, it's what we were apparently asking for him. No one has been prepared to match that (yet).

Someone said in the last couple of pages that they'd been pushed back by the judge's previous case taking longer than expected, so that could be the reason.

Never mind Saints, I've won the champions league with Eastleigh (admittedly on FM10... still working on FM11) In any case, we have owners and management that want us in the Champions League, and have already turned several years of decline into an awesome positive feeling around the club. Given the financial backing we have, I'm certainly not going to say it's impossible for us to reach the Champions League. I admit I don't know exactly how we're going to do it. It might be that plans have to change based on whether financial fair play proves successful or not. No doubt Cortese will make mistakes, as he already has, but he's shown that he learns incredibly quickly, and has thrown himself headlong into trying to make Saints one of the biggest clubs in the country. For now, sat in the Championship, still happy about an awesome promotion season, I'm going to sit here and enjoy the ride, and be content with the possibility that he just might succeed.

I'm pretty sure he'll still be here next season, because he's still got two years left on his contract. Whether we'll be able to tempt him to stay longer will depend on whether we're anywhere near the Prem after next season.

The way I see it, there is one way in which we are ALREADY one of the biggest clubs in the country. The Academy. Think of the team we might have had if we'd had the money we have now a few years ago. If we're going to have any chance at all, that'll be the way, and the owners obviously think the same, by the way they're investing so much in the facilities, as well as (so far) keeping hold of the best players we've recently produced.

By far the worst Saints kit ever (also the first one I bought shirt/shorts/socks home and away), and more an ugly Pony tick with a load of half stripes. On the bright side, that design is now banned by FA / Prem and FL advertising regulations. Even so we still got off lightly compared to some even more hideous efforts of the 1994 era. There's a pink / yellow / green Umbro keeper's shirt once worn by Neville Southall and based on a Jorge Campos design that I still have burned into my retina. Is it just me that really liked that kit? I think DRS could be improved by having it automatically close once a car gets level with the car in front, to allow wheel to wheel racing to happen, but not to aid the actual passing of the car. That said, I think overall it's a good thing. After all, this has all the hallmarks of being a really boring season, with one driver waaay out in front and the title practically already decided, but the racing has still been really good to watch.

For Killer to have Claus beside him in front of Niemi in a current season goalkeeper shirt... Oh wait!

Looking at the complete stats, I'm impressed with the number of games we've put to bed and won by two goals or more...

Maybe it's a delay to make sure they have a water tight case. After all, they could well impose a points deduction with no right of appeal, like they did with us.
