  1. Signing Guly ahead of Serie A interest, signing Lalana ahead of Prem interest, keeping hold of Oxo ahead of HUGE big 4 interest... Dare I say we're just starting to become a big club again?
  2. I'd laugh if Torres' deal fell through now...
  3. Oxo remains ours... Woot!
  4. Huge result if we have managed to hold on to him. How many times were the papers reporting all but a done deal?
  5. That'll teach me to get a coffee while I'm typing a reply At least it backs up what I wrote...
  6. OK, so we've established that none of us know for certain what Charlie Austin is thinking, and the speculation and personal opinions have started to go in circles. Yes it is unlikely we'll get Austin, Ipswich have had an offer accepted and it would seem he's going there. However, we have a recent history of attracting players above our level, Fonte from the league above, keeping hold of Lallana from Prem offers, and attracting Guly from Serie A offers, so it's only natural to think we might be able to attract a good player from a team below us in the same league, who's from this area, even in the face of bigger offers. Now please try and keep the personal insults out of the debate.
  7. We can get more than the sell on fee we lost by using this to attract top talent to our acadamy. This is proof that our acadamy is a valid route to the very very top.
  8. While it would have been nice... I get the feeling we're not in desperate need of that money any more...
  9. See that Le God is 25-1 to get Gray's job. (But the favourite in the papers seems to be Gary Neville >_ Jeff Stelling would be a good shout to replace Keys I reckon.
  10. We don't want him backing us anyway... all the time he tipped us for relegation we always escaped lol
  11. http://www.blackpoolfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10432~2278250,00.html Took into consideration the team against us and his comments... Bet he isn't 'Having a laugh' right now
  12. I guess we were interested in him after all then. We might just about have a small chance if he wants to stay in the South.
  13. Anyway, back on topic, I still don't think he's going. I reckon the reported Man Utd interest is just so the media can talk about it in relation to the cup game, I haven't seen any quotes that actually confirm they're interested.
  14. I'm guessing he saw the episode of QI that said about it...
  15. So the only quotes we have are Wenger saying it probably won't happen. The Man U talk smacks of a media wanting to use the cup match as a talking point. There's been no quotes from Man U to suggest they're considering an approach.
  16. Not official yet and there's already a thread about Oxo.
  17. Easy people... The thread is about Charlie Austin remember.

  19. I think he's peaked because last season was something special. Something that probably won't be matched by anyone for a long time to come in this league. He's still capable of being by far the best striker in this league though, even without hitting those dizzy heights again.
  20. You lot do realise that this long term deal, as Adkins puts it, is exactly the same amount of time we have left on The OC's contract? I reckon the only thing that can put an end to the speculation is 1st February...
  21. Of course they do. Transfers sell newspapers, and speculation about transfers can turn both players' and teams' heads. It's no different to what an agent does to get commission. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2266521,00.html There's this article which basically says ignore what the papers are saying. They're never going to issue an outright denial because it's never absolutely certain, look at Eddie Howe for example, but I think we can take from that that The OC is not 'for sale' as such. I'm not sure what more people want?
  22. Ahahaha I think he's staying. The newspapers just can't comprehend that a League One club might be able to keep hold of a player, that a player might want to stay here despite all the media pressure, they're used to creating their own transfer stories by getting players to move through media pressure. 'They've turned away so many clubs, but they're a tiny league one club so he must be leaving, so let's link him with the next one that shows an interest.' Fulham are favourites to sign him now? I'm a heck of a lot more confident of keeping hold of him if that's true, I believe we're destined to be above Fulham in the next few seasons and the ethos at the club at the moment shows the players believe that too.
  23. They're not in administration any more, so normal rules apply. Anyone they owe more than £750 to, that they then miss a repayment to, can issue a winding up order. The CVA repayment terms are to put it bluntly, terrible for the creditors. Pompey don't have to repay anything until 2012 now to creditors in the CVA if the reports linked to here are to be believed. They still have to meet day to day running costs though, if they miss any of those, I doubt they'll be allowed to go into administration again, it'll be liquidation straight away.
  24. Another shout for Benali here.
  25. I thought that I have to admit... 'I bet Pompey are involved in this somehow...'
