If Walker Peters is that good, I would have expected him to be capped by England already, as he has made the pre-requisite 6 starts for Spurs !
-
Brilliant to a man, again. Fantastic through ball from Che for the winner. Well chuffed
-
He is quality, I have seen him a few times, once with a mate who has a UEFa B license, and we both thought he was the best player on the pitch, playing behind Malcom. He plays on the right, but has played left back at the World Cup. Seems to be out of favour at Bordeaux as Sousa prefers wing backs.

Yet another great team performance. MOM to Jack Stephens for me, but they were all great. Ings goal was worthy of Le Tiss !
-
Great performance again, Adams may not have scored, but he has a lot of other attributes to his game. MOM's for me Armstrong and Redmond , especially in the 2nd half. Kings of the South Coast again !
-
I agree , they won't be in our price range, but given the limited number of decent CB's that are likely to be available, it would spike the price on anything else half decent. Particularly in a short window like January.
-
New CB that can manage the defence? Arsenal need one, Man City need one, Chelsea are rumored to be looking for one, as are Spurs so that would take 4 good options of off our wish list. I doubt very much that we can get an upgrade, even on our limited CB's .

Aston Villa 1 - 3 Saints - FT - Reactions and Christmas Cheer!

Played well to a man, but that Long miss from a yard out ! !!! Thought both full backs were great, especially in the first half. Brilliant run from Bertrand to win the corner for the 2nd goal. Well done to Jack Stephens. He may not be Toby, or Fonte, but he is one of the best 2 we have at the moment. We should have won the last 3 away games and be mid table, but is looking a bit more hopeful . -
Just watched Kone ( ex sunderland) have a great game for Strasbourg against Bordeaux, mind you Bordeaux were worse than us yesterday. KDAJ

Another first half when we didn't turn up. Got better when Romeu came on, but as others have said Armstrong should have come on earlier. Long should play at Centre back with his pace, jump and ability to clear the ball when the goal is gaping ! How the **** can he miss from that distance ? Ings was unlucky with the disallowed goal and also the one that hit the post when he was flagged offside. Wish he had tapped in the rebound, as Creswell had played him on and it could have stood on a Var review.
-
How they are where they are in the table is beyond me. Gutted we didn't get something, but maybe we should have gone for it more at 1 nil. Mc Carthy was unlucky with the deflection on the winner.

Stream problems tonight , so missed a few bits in the buffer zone. ****e first half, better second when we tried to be a bit braver. Long is more **** in the box than those dog-****s in the box you used to be able to send to your enemies in the Private Eye ads. Delighted with the win, lets hope the monkey is off our backs at home. Only 4 points behind Bournemouth, so anyone in the bottom half could be dragged into it. PS Ings is class !

Like a lot of people , I think that was our best performance for some time, brave quick passing, and a return of the pressing game. There were still a few bad decisions at times, JWP shooting from the half way line, PEH not passing to Redmond at the end and Long and Cedric's overhit crosses could have made it more comfortable. Normally Saints would pack our box for the last 20 minutes, hoping to block everything. This time we took the game to Arsenal, so much so that the equalised from one of their only breaks. Even then we nearly won it at the death through Boufal. I would have liked to see it again, but unfortunately MOTD didn't show it. I would keep that team for the next few games now, swapping Obafemi/Boufal/Djenepo depending on the opposition. Since the Leicester game, I have been numb about Saints but yesterday has given me hope.
-
I think the best we can hope for is that Cedric and Long agree to rip up their contracts and leave of a free, giving us some wage wiggle. Forster and Ely are doing well enough to get a move at the end of the season, but I can't see anyone biting our hand off in January.
-
That figure is boosted by the fact the you get called up for England once you have made your tenth appearance for Spurs, eg Dire , Winks, Caulker !
-
That would do it for me , for home games, but would bring in a cb for Boufal away from home, where 3 at the back works ok
-
If the bin dippers win today, the title is theirs. The rest of the top four are miles ahead of the rest. The rest of the season would then be about the Europa league places, and who goes down with us and Norwich. All be the start of November. Best League in the world? My arse !
-
Only worth watching for Boufal, Ings and Djenepo . Decent spell for 15 minutes of the 2nd half , but once we weren't given that penalty for the push, that was is . Feels like the las time we went down, only then the squad was full of £2 million no hopers, this time they cost £16M. Tip to our defenders, if we don't have the ball, try standing close to anyone whose shirt is not the same colour as yours!
-
Awful . Usual lack of marking results in a 2 on 1 for the goal. After that, we are just playing to preserve goal difference. Why is Valery not at RB ? Valery on at HT instead of Vestigaard, put Armstrong back in midfield and try to PRESS !
-
Agree with this. People forget how City like to win the ball back early. When our midfield tried an extra touch to find a forward option, the ball was nicked off them. Given that Everton's MO at the moment is to use pace to get in behind, I would not be upset to see the same 11 start next week. Maybe Boufal or Djenepo in for a CB, but defend deep to deny any space in behind.

It was always going to be damage limitation after Friday, so I am not to disappointed in how it went, considering Silva, Aguero, Jesus and Mahrez were all playing. The marking for the first goal was awful, Silva in 10 yards of space on the edge of the box. The 2nd was a great move, although someone left PEH 2 on 1 for the cross. The 3rd was just great reaction from Aguero. As for our team. McCarthy, made some good saves. Vallary - Good recovery from his Friday mare. PEH - Filled in well at LB, but would prefer a more attacking option against Everton. Bednarek- A couple of great blocks Stephens - Scored, and didn't make any howlers. Danso - Looked good, apart from just pointing at Aguero for the 2nd JWP- Took a couple of corners, but otherwise nothing, no marking, tackling or passing Romeu - Solid , but needs to sort out his matking at set pieces. Armstrong- Better than JWP Boufal - Good run and shot when we got the ball , needs more games Long, won a throw in, Otherwise he was offside, or not winning headers. Should only ever play if Adams, Ings, Obafemi and N'dulu are all injured.
-
****e to the power of X We were rubbish until the 9th minute, then we had the goal and sending off . No positives what so ever. With JWP we are playing with 10 men at the moment . Don't think I will watch the next 2 games. I honestly don't know where we go from here .
-
I don't remember us winning a televised Friday night Home game since 1984, so I am far from optimistic . Also 6 music played Shady Lane by Pavement this morning, and every time they have played it on a matchday, we have lost !
-
First half we created some chances, Redmond hit the side netting and Ings had one cleared off the line, but after the Kante shot deflected into the top corner, we were ****e. Gunn needs to be rested, and we need to pick a shape were the 2 central midfield both protect the defense. Yet again you could drive a bus down our right hand side for their 3rd goal. Vallery was out of position for that, but he was left 2 one 1 so often in the match. Where the **** was mr 2 good free kicks a season JWP ? It is going to be another hard slog.
